Sunday morning Zed!
Good God….. you can’t throw a rat and not hit a repug this Sunday……
Morning Elliott and thanks. I see that Pat Buchanon will be on WJ this AM. He has been on a major rant about Sotomayor being a racist. Hope someone will ask him about Marcus Epstein, his protege who runs his organization, The American Cause. Epstein will be sentenced July 8 for a hate crime against a black woman to which he plead guilty.

Good morning, pups. Life is good. MoDo and The Moustache of Wisdom are off today, so it’s just Kristof and Rich. Mr. Kristof, in “Cum Laude in Evading Bandits,” says when encouraging students’ wanderlust, questions invariably arise. Here are 15 tips for traveling to even the roughest of countries — and back. He says something profoundly stupid at the end. Mr. Rich asks “Who Is to Blame for the Next Attack?” He says Republicans in Congress have no plausible economic, health care or energy policies to counter the president’s. The only card left to play is 9/11.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got chocolate croissants that I picked up at the bakery yesterday doing errands. (There has to be an up side to errands…!) We’re going to be eating a lot of salads for the next few days because it’s time to pull up the lettuce before it bolts. I’m drowning in work, so I’m off to start bashing away at it. Have a great day.
Well, to be fair, they’re not all Pukes– there’s Sen. Arlen Specter (D-PA) on Fox.
He’s just a demi-puke…
Morning, folks – for anyone living between about Michigan, Ohio, central PA and points north and east, you’ll need to cover your gardens up tonight; they are talking freeze warnings (not frost, folks FREEZE) in those areas. In my area (south central NY) they are predicting 30 degrees, which means at Chez Siberia, we can count on it being 20. Anything like peppers, tomatoes, etc. will be destroyed in that sort of temperature; cabbages, lettuces, onions, potatoes will suffer leaf harm but will limp back after a bit. So I cover everything. Wall-o-waters, anyone? http://www.gardenharvestsupply…..tor-3-pack
ABC could be interesting: what will Krugman school Will on this morning?
Good morning, Toby. Where’s global warming when you need it?
Good morning everyone. A thought’s been swirling around in my head about empathy and viewing things from one’s life experiences. I haven’t got it organized in my mind yet but I keep thinking of the lack of empathy shown by some men regarding rape. McCain’s gorilla joke comes to mind and the person who said ‘lie back and enjoy it’. I think these are two examples of a lack of empathy being a big problem, an issue where a woman’s point of view would be helpful. Then there’s O’Reilly’s opinion where kidnapped/abused children like not going to school. But it’s a hard thing to google and I can’t think of enough examples. Anyone think of anymore?
Solai – I think that if you can find John Dean’s articles at Findlaw.com about his book on conservatives, he talks about this issue; his contention is that conservatives don’t come with the ‘empathy’ gene – theirs is for ‘authoritarianism’ – that’s why they are Rethugs..
Thanks.
Just a drive by….maybe the Reagans’, Nancy, Just say No, or his, about the homeless..they like it, I think. Her song about “2nd hand clothes”..Or, the lil W on WMDs….now that’s funny! What a way to start my morning….
I really was outraged over McCain’s rapist joke. There’s a man who just doesn’t get it.
good morning
what a pleasure to wake up to, Pat Buchanan whining about poor oppressed white man being shut out of justice by that whore-bitch
lol. Their goal is to shrink their numbers to single digits.
Thanks for your work, Elliott. Another Sunday free from TV. Mass media is objective journalism??? ha! (/s).
Does anyone know if TVs go bad from non-use?
Buchanan is an insufferable ass! He has already worked the poor tearful Mrs. Alito crying from the oh, so cruel, Dems beating up on her hubby into the conversation. He thinks he is a laugh riot. How despicable!
He certainly suffers from no lack of self-esteem. Count the number of times he says I.
Did he tell the gorilla one again, or is this a new one?
(oops – sorry I missed your earlier comment)
Morning, pups. I see the RNC’s a little pissed that the Obamas went to NYC for the evening.
I don’t remember the RNC pissing about trips to Crawford, but it must just be my memory.
I’ve thought it might be genetic too- some recessive gene left over from when we mixed with the Neanderthals. But I think it more likely has to do with upbringing.
Psychologists say that if a child doesn’t learn to speak by about age 12 he or she will never be able to speak or understand sentences– only a handful of words. I think empathy is similar– if you don’t learn it by about age 12 you can never learn to put yourself in someone else’s shoes.
Remember when you were a kid and you stepped on a bug and your Mom or Dad said “How would you like if it a big giant came along and stepped on you”? Well, in conservative families the parent says “Look– you squished ‘im. Wadn’t that fun? Let’s step on some mo’ of ‘em!”.
Elliot, you do the best Sunday morning line-up on the internets!
lol!
Fox News reads Sen. Arlen Spector (PA). Is he not a DEM officially or does Fox have too much pride to change it?
Thanks LooHoo!
How’s retirement suiting you?
oops, I guess my fingers just couldn’t type that in…
Yeah Elliot. It’s ok. I might need a few more months to remember Specter has jumped ship.
Nixon being forced to resign was tantamount to a Coup D’etat says Pat! What an ass, this Buchanan is. Hell yes we were hostile, I personally was already extremely hostile because he ran in 68 claiming he would end the war and then escalated it instead.
During the 1972 campaign, my Mom told me where she worked they claimed his unofficial campaign slogan was; “Why change Dicks in the middle of a screw? Reelect Nixon in 72!” Good Riddance, indeed!
Obviously, Pat is somewhat less insufferable in smaller doses…
Yeah, I was thinkin’ about all those Crawford weekends we never heard ‘em give a peep about, too.
RNC and Rethugs’ big prob is they can’t get a date with anybody but their pissy own selves.
Every time I look at the tv, there is Uncle Pat. Does he ever sleep? MSNBC must comp him a bedroom at the studio.
well, if he’d gone golfing or hunting, np.
No wonder they’re so cranky….at least one word I hear about Laura is cold; most about Barb are, well, unprintable.
Still hasn’t registered.
Mornin all.
This morning they’ve put the “beautiful” back in The City Beautiful.
Our Magic won last night!!!! Go fishin’ LaBron James! We’re going to the NBA finals!!!! Look out Lakers!! Do ya believe in Magic?? Huh?? Do ya? Not yet? 4 more games an’ ya will.
*sigh*
Poor white man part two: Lindsey Graham on Fox News
Questioning that he’d get a fair shake in front of this “Latina woman”
lack of empathy is the major indicator of a SOCIOPATH,PSYCHOPATH…somebody capable of murder,or MASS MURDER
Oh yeah. And Groundhog Day is finally over. No rain yesterday or today. But it’s going up near or above 90. Better than rain. 76 and clear in The City Beautiful
Lindasay=Douchebag
good mornin, didja say ya appeared before Sotomayor and you NO likey?
Good Morning Ellie and Pups. Daunting, somewhat intriguing lineup this week, for a change. This self-appointed task of yours is becoming quite an effort. You spoil us shamelessly, for which we are grateful.
Thank You!
Graham on Sotomayer:
“Does she really understand what America is all about?”
Does Graham?
Morning Adie, thank you.
Spector on his Senate race:
“It’s a free society” Sestak can run if he wants.
LOL, is that meant to be a tempting challenge? Yer ON! *SPLAT!*
Next?
Wait. What am I thinking?! Why pick on the rats. Lets throw one repubblehead at another. Word has it they’re cannibals when it suits their fancy.
Is that Lindsay G.? Not enough caffeine in the world….
And Spector being so teddibly gracious to Sestak. My my. Did you happen to notice if he tossed a plastic bone made in chynah? I hope Sestak steals his freelunch bucket.
mmm what does Graham think ‘America is all about’? Huh?
Hey, Spector didn’t ask for the field to be cleared, that wasn’t part of any discussion.
Aww, now Mitt’s whining about those blood sucking unions and the government takeover at GM. But, hey, gotta love them shareholders.
I’m not sure, but I don’t think the founding fathers would recognize his version.
Whuuut’s it all about,
Al-feeeeeeeeeeeelindsayyyyyyyyyyy?bad thing to do to a perfectly good tune. unfair to Michael Caine.
lindsayyyyyy ain’t gotta clue. cant-stannd-hizz huckster-snakeoil routine.
good morning and a quick hello. i’m off to revdeb’s church for the marriage equity service, then i’m going to catch up with the rev a couple hours later.
Good Morning everyone……. still not sleeping all night but getting close… also been reading again…..
and the media still cannot figure out that there has been a change of party and we of that party DO NOT what to all those sour pickle, pasty white folks……. on our TV
Why is Chris Dodd in trouble? What has he done (or not done) that pisses off the voters?
perception of him being beholden to the banks??? I dunno, 1st hand. Thot I heard. But then, I set a personal record for switching Prez. candidates as the camplain wound its tortuous path.
I count on YOU to enlighten ME on such topics, hon.
Hope you’re having a lovely Sunday. My tv’s off, so I’m cheating. that delicious feeling of playing hookey and hoping the teach won’t notice. Guess I just blew my cover. oops.
Mornin’, Elliott, pups with rats to throw

Banksters is my guess too, but I don’t know for sure. I’ll ask mui1 sometime when she’s online.
I boxed myself in today. It’s a gorgeous day, but chilly. So I decided to do some mending repairs while waiting for it to warm up enough to wear shorts on a long bicycle ride. But it turns out that Pelican Brief is on TV, so now I have to watch it until it’s over. It’s one of my guilty pleasures. *g*
Terrifically important milestones! Congrats!
We’re so happy to have you back running along the threads with the pack. ;->
Isn’t that peculiar? To me, her story makes her the Poster Child for what America is all about.
definitely a reason to turn on the telly. good movie and, ahem, acting. ;->
What the hell?
i really dispise BIG DAWG for pimping his brother CHIMPIE
Saw that. Obama never seems to pass up an opportunity to disappoint.
more evidence graham’s an ignoramous wearing a shower curtain and thinking the world won’t notice. all that perfectly good training and experience, wasted on such a twisted soul. rotting from the inside out. look carefully and u can see the flies buzzing about his self-anointed crown. Ick.
but that’s just me….
they don’t seem to understand that she is not an immigrant, a foreigner……or they pretend. I want someone to stand up and yell that she does not need a green card.
what can one say?!
From NYT
Industry Fears US May Quit New Car Habit
Why not? When the value of a new car drops by thousands of dollars as soon as you drive it off the lot why bother.

GM’s New Deal
Indeed. Now u make me jealous. I HAD a horse, light years ago. OMG she was a dear thing. Miss her and always will. *sniffle*
I’m off also, gotta clear more surfaces, pack more stuff and, my personal most hated job: scrubbing everything down like new. Getting too old for this. That’s why we gotta do it, like, NOW(!)
See ya later. Pat the equines for us. thanks ;->
Hey Demi. How you doin’ today! Hope you’re having a good one.
Here, hot outta the pan. *passes muffins thru the toobz*
Scared to death for some very close friends, GM retirees: of course they’re given no voice in anything, as all this deal-making wobbles around putting dings in the furniture. Arrgghhhh!!!
Hey Dragon. I wish u could see our lil’ tigers. The day’s crisp, but broke sunny and bright. They’re curled up tight as little stuffed pillows, in patches of full sun. Ahhhhhhh. 3 hummingbirds fighting over one feeder just outside the window, as kitties snooze, oblivious…
I slept in so tigers got fed late. Not that they didn’t try to get me up at zero dark thirty as usual. They’re now spread out in all the windows but the windows are on the west side so no rays until this afternoon. ‘Cept little Maste, who just wants his head rubbed, 24/7.
