Picking up today’s MSNBC Liz Cheney appearance where Marcy left off, I thought I would give BabyDick’s take on same sex marriage the same treatment that Marcy gave Liz’s views on PapaDick’s torture regime (because it is hard to argue with success).

BabyDick says:

  • “Freedom means freedom for everybody”—so the states have to decide freedom to marry for themselves.
  • “I would not like to see a constitutional amendment banning [same sex marriage].”
  • However, Liz Cheney is not willing to say she is a “clear-cut supporter” of same-sex marriage.
  • “I applaud the State Department decision to extend benefits to same sex partners. . . it is wrong to discriminate in those relationships based on somebody’s sexual preference.”

Yeah, those words inside the quotes? Real quotes. (Marcy & bmaz were in New York making me party, too—so, can you sort it out for us?)

One more thing: The attempt to conjure some sort of controversy about Sonia Sotomayor’s “empathy” out of the frame of the question, is, dare I say, a little thin, Lizzie.
