Man of Aran
(1934) NR
Director Robert Flaherty’s first sound film is a brilliant dramatized documentary about the Herculean struggles of a community living on the remote island of Aran, off the Irish coast. The island is so barren that the soil has to be collected from rock crevices and mixed with seaweed before crops can be grown. Flaherty also wrote the screenplay, and the film was named Best Picture of the Year (1934) by the National Board of Review.
Hi everyone……. I feel proud of myself….. I drove today….. drove around the neighborhood and it was like I had never stopped driving. So went down to Target and then to Trader Joe’s…. Able to park without an issue…..
Elmore is going back to work and someone gave me my freedom…
I’m off the steroids…. not going to take the Lasix tomorrow (water pill) and see how it goes…… One of my wigs arrived, found a salon who will trim it near Trader Joes for free for cancer patients…..
Very tired…. when on steroids probably slept around 1-3 hours in 24hrs….. Now I am in hibernation mode…. will fall asleep at the drop of a hat….. just eyes rolled back and next thing I know asleep.
Agreed, tastes spectacular. Bloody shame it blows out my bp.
Currently hooked on peace of mind chamomile – scent is knock-out and the tea itself is lovely. Also, trying to figure out a good spearmint mixture – haven’t gotten far.
Best yet (and most powerful) is Puer-eh, can resteep the leaves dozens of times. Gratifying and rich as fine coffee.
Enjoy sleep when you fall into it. I’ve found that as I age, I don’t need so much sleep…..and sometimes it would be just fun to snuggle in for a good long snooze.
I love the word in both espanol and english, manzanilla / camomile. Whenever I drive to mexico I load up my car with bunches of fresh manzanilla. The aroma lasts for months.
Rowing evryday lately…see how long the bid will stand it. Less food needed to. A lady stopped me in her white esclade and remarled with long hair and skinnier she did not recognisw me. Clothes are getting looser. Feelin pretty good.
How is it going…the wing more mobile?
It’s been a very rainy humid week… really slows down the recovery in weather like this. But things get a little better most every day. Funny you mentioned drivers license. I haven’t been behind the wheel in months since my pickup is a stick shift, one good arm won’t do. I expect I will be lucky if the arm has enough strength and agility for driving in 6 more weeks-ish.
Congrats on the weight loss… first time in my life I need to think about it myself.
Thanks. Didn’t know about manzanilla. Intro (brief) to MX was fairly recent – fell in love with Taxco. Spectacular architecture – all that silver money.
(Screwed up spelling of pu-erh and exaggerated about dozens. Meant lots.)
Wow. Phenomenal video, ES, appreciate the Man of Aran piece. Very gritty, moving; makes for phenomenal cultural comparisons.
Amazing when one looks at all the effort invested that they spent so much time and effort harvesting seaweed for plant culture instead of on actually turning seaweed itself into food. Pretty common theme across human history and cultures, though.
ES!
Hi neuro..)
Wow, these are hard to watch…

Lose your glasses? /s

Night everyone,
I just now ran across this very thoughful and details analysis of the kind of legal shit Cheney is in over his torture program: http://www.dailykos.com/storyo…..re-Defense
It’s a long and tedious read, but delightful nevertheless.
