Rep. Rajul Grijalva (D-AZ) has signed on to cosponsor H.R. 1207, the Federal Reserve Transparency Act. Rep. Alan Grayson sent a letter to his Democratic colleagues this morning asking them to join him cosponsoring the bill which gives the GAO the authority to audit the Federal Reserve.
Bernie Sanders has a similar bill in the Senate, but has no cosponsors.
Rep. Grijalva brings the total of Democratic cosponsors to 30. There are 136 Republican House members already cosponsoring the bill, and 218 votes are needed in the House for passage.

Very telling that Senator Sanders hasn’t gotten any co-sponsors; Where are you Sen.Harkin, champion of EFCA? Where are you Senator Feingold? Where are you Senator Boxer? Where are you Senator Leahy?
I do like it when folks like Rep Grijalva (and Grayson) recognize that there are issues where Progressives can make some small common cause with folks like Ron Paul.
Grijalva is a good guy on health care too; was one of the HR 676 co-sponsors who joined activists in a meeting with Steny Hoyer last week.
Hi Jane……. Grijalva is one of the good guys….. very progressive
Where they differ with Ron Paul (the bill’s author) is Paul would have us return to specie backed currency.
Auditing the Fed is worthwhile and post partisan.
Thank Jane.
Looks like Obama’s people have the unions and the black caucus running scared.
Thanks for the explanation. I didn’t know the arguments on returning to the gold standard.
100% agreement that auditing the FED is a must.
Effing Jamie Dimond is a Director for the NY Fe4.
How many ways can you spell fox guarding the hen house?
Ron Paul is a gold standard guy from way back. He’d abolish the Fed entirely and has said so many times.
.
I dunno. Pope Ron-Paul is in favor of this. But, I guess that if you put enough libertarians at typewriters for long enough, and even something THEY type makes sense. Audit the Fed.
.
Didn’t they off JFK for what he was trying to do to the Fed?
“Pope Ron-Paul is in favor of this. But, I guess that if you put enough libertarians at typewriters for long enough, and even something THEY type makes sense. “
Libertarians don’t make sense?
I guess that letting people control their lives as long as they don’t hurt anybody else doesn’t make sense? Letting the average person start a business without paying expensive regulatory fees to the government doesn’t make sense? Letting the average person do work on their house without paying bribe money AKA permit fees to the local government doesn’t make sense? Letting people keep the money they earn doesn’t make sense? Letting people earn a living without being punished by spending a lot of time filling out forms and giving personal information to the IRS doesn’t make sense? Stopping the war on drugs doesn’t make sense?
What does make sense?
Did you see the good doctor yesterday suggest that it would be a good idea to fold the Department of Agriculture and the FDA and the CDC? I guess diseased peanuts (and all manner of
taintedBusiness-friendly products) are a gift from the Gods, and the ‘Mer’kan people are deservin’.Yeeeeee-haw!
