I agree that 37% is too high for Darth… I coulda swore he was in the teens…!
Reading my local dead tree edition, I learn that Morley Safer thinks the blogosphere and “citizen journalists” are a danger to the universe and the cosy good ol’ boy way of doin’ Teh Journalism. [my paraphrase]
Semi-retired Morley really ought to have one of his grandchildren fire up a laptop and show him what’s actually going on in the blogosphere these days.
He seems to have plenty of 18th Century time on his hands.
So what persuaded a sizable majority of the House and Senate to vote for a bill lauding the “the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens?”
jhfc. Should I just assume that these “citizens” are all members of a Well Regulated Militia?
The Second Goddamned Amendment simply doesn’t say what these stupid fucks pretend that it says.
I should probably know this, but who actually wrote that Amendment? I just wanna send a thank-you card to the descendants for the countless American lives lost because of bad writing and poor punctuation.
Obama speaking at 10:00, Cheney at 10:45. Strategically speaking, I wish that were reversed.
When I first saw the Beck piece yesterday what stood out was his saying, “I’m a commentator. I commentate on issues.” Commentate? Beck. Just another fuckin’ moron paid big bucks to be a moron.
That Glenn beck clip was awesome, but the full clip is even better. He was just taken apart by the view ladies. Nice to see what happens when people actually get called out on their BS.
Mebbe the prez will be delayed 45 minutes or so for some inexplicable reason.
One does not want to get on the bad side of the Whoopster.
Heh, Whoopi called a spade, a spade…! How novel…! ;-)
Imagine that. Dick is speaking today and Liz will be on AM Joe tomorrow. Who would have thought.
she opened a can of whoop-ass
NBC showing the Cheney favorables at 18%. Wasn’t there some discussion earlier?
The Rethugs not wanting the prisoners of Gitmo transferred to prisons here may actually be a good thing for the prisoners. Who’s to say that the prison guards here, not generally known for their understanding, wouldn’t allow other inmates to prey upon the prisoners from Gitmo.
they’d get those colonoscopy’s!
Another rich, pampered, celebrity “journalist” who has benefited from the status quo and fears change.
What blew my mind about Rushbo’s rant against MSNBC, was the notion that he called Joe a liberal…! On what planet could one possibly consider him(or Mika) a liberal…?
On NBC Nicole Wallace defending Crazy Dick and saying Dems play politics with national security…what a twit.
Only on planet Limpdick, where Oxy is the sun and Viagra is the moon.
Thats exactly what i want to happen! Take those cowards, who bomb innocent people and then hide in caves, and put them in with some real americans. Put them in with those aryan nation guys and those black muslim militants, who are actually in jail for real violent face to face crimes, and let those terrorists get a real welcome to america. Although i do know some are most likely innocent, but we could atleast do that to some of those guys.
With that comment consider my back turned to you in disgust.
They would surely be segregated from the general prison population.
It’s not like we have all the room in the world for them.
may i stand with you?
People not charged with a crime are not normally put in state or federal prisons.
BT, the link at “Obama’s Catholic problem” goes to the Swampland article about Cheney.
I’d be honoured.
You still hanging around, eh? Don’t you find it a tad ironic we have the highest incarceration rate…? Btw, 240 more is a drop in the bucket…
Left me manners in the other room. Mornin’, CT. How’s tricks?
Working atop the mtn… Waiting for my lot to clear escrow so I can start building my home…! 8-)
Mornin’ Blue Texan and Firedogs,

Save Our Prisons From The Terrorists !
fyi – these are long time friends of the Lake, Schecter and Greenwald
Is anyone else sick unto death of “Let’s call in our own Richard Wolffe” on Countdown, night after night? Why should we care what he thinks? And for that matter, although I detest Limbaugh, I could sure use a break from him on Countdown every night, with that “bouncing” CPAC clip. A 30-day moratorium would be a welcome relief (for different reasons than Limbaugh’s).
I’d think MSNBC would have enough video clips in their library that they could run something other than that same waterboarding clip, the same clips of Cheney in the wheelchair, with his big hat, etc., over and over. Surely their video library is better than that, so is it just laziness?
For my money, Rachel has a far better show these days, with more interesting guests. I’ve begun fast forwarding the TiVo past some of Countdown.
/rant
I just sent my weekly complaint email to AM Joe:
Heh. I heard that. Almost had to send Beck a bill for a stack of perfectly good dishes. Dweeb? Does that epithet date me? whatever.
Good mornin’ BT, Dragon and Pups.
oh my. are we blessed with the presence of a presence this morn? is it early to rise, or late to retire? could someone else tease it for me, please? haven’t had my coffee. bbsoon.
the full clip IS better, especially the part where Beck and EH try to invoke the gop dodge “but what about PELOSI!!” :)
Funny thing is, many of those same Rethugs are doing all they can to keep themselves out of our prison-industrial complex.
No irony. As with the war industry, there are huge profits to be made warehousing people.
Yeah, that one dropped my jaw as well. May be scar should take limpballs to task for deformation of character.
Is anyone else sick unto death of “Let’s call in our own Richard Wolffe” on Countdown, night after night?
Yes – very.
Off to save the world. later on, all.
agreed. yesterday was especially bad somehow. After reading Marci and the other critically important stuff at the Lake, I turned on the telly, expecting…. um, something entirely different than what was spewing from all the shows. as if they’re operating in a parallel universe. Got so fed up, I didn’t even manage to wait for Rachel. Ugh!
i like him
It looks like a lot of Republicans connected with the Bush administration did just that, though not with guns and face-masks.
Yeah, Adie, I agree. I am gonna send e-mail to Countdown and Rachel (especially) suggesting they have Marcy on. Goodness knows, Marcy would be orders of magnitude better than that airhead Ana Marie Cox that Rachel keeps having on.
I always watch Countdown and Rachel. She was especially good last night. More of her gentle sarcasm (she played clips with that “scary music” — Oh Fortuna, and laughed and laughed at the Dems being frightened). She is just excellent.
Wolffe is not as bad as that Newsweek sleazeball they have on with Nora or Andrea all the time… Can’t think of his name right know… it’s a quarter of three in the am… please forgive my transgression…! ;-)
then you missed her lead story: Newsweek’s Issikoff reporting on ’secret’ WH meeting w/ Human Rights Groups yesterday. have your BP meds handy
That segment last night when Keef talked to the guy from Montana who wants some of the gitmo prisoners for their empty prison had some rather strange undercurrents. Like what lawmaker(s) inserted an earmark to bring that little jewel to his/her state? Like how many millions were spent building it so it could sit empty? Like how many other facilities (for whatever intended purposes) are there in other states?
Seems like that’s an investigation looking for a place to happen.
Yeah, if I’m looking for some escapism, I’d rather not find it chez Keith. That’s why I broke down and watched a little American Idol. With my laptop tuned to Marcy & crew. :)
*Ding* Issikoff…! Mahalo, cbl2!
I used to like him, too. I’m just tired of it night after night. I actually like Fineman and Alter a bit better, perhaps because we don’t have to see them every night.
from BT’s boston globe link:
i’m starting to think that the only really important goal is to keep single payer off the table. nothing else i can see about the health care reform policy descriptions i’ve seen makes any sense to me. i’m so confused.
has anyone read the various proposals (such as they are) and understand in depth any aspect of this? i’d love an explanation.
I’d like to see Miz Hamsher too, not just Marcy…! ;-)
I’ve heard this ‘n that about Isikoff, but his piece on Rachel was really fascinating. NOTHING could drive me to American Idol. I’ve never watched it and probably never will.
I can see how Richard Wolfe’s on air persona may be annoying to some, but in paying attention to what he says – he never goes in for Villager framing, eg – he has yet to put torture and other crimes in a Right vs Left, Dem vs Rep context
Well, yes, but we DO get to see Jane occasionally. Marcy would be a special treat, especially now with her torture reporting.
A blind pig will find chesnuts now and then…! ;-)
It is not his persona (although it does bother me a bit), it is simply the repetition. Along with the repetitious video clips, it smacks of laziness to me.
Particularly when states are beginning to look at the money they’re spending on locking up large segments of the population. Even FL is beginning to wake up to the problem of feeding the ever hungry prison industry.
LOL. True.
Now off to do some of what they’re paying me for…bbl
lil Jizzicoff can be annoying and mistaken as sh*, (see Impeachment: 1999) but he has proven handy in getting more sunlight for some stories in the recent past.
Rush’s fatassery will never end. If one doesn’t bend to his spin, he’ll trot out the word librul…
Oxycontin rots the brain.
You’re worlds more chipper and coherent than I would be at 3 in the a.m.! *g*
Say there! You watch Ms Greenspan so I don’t have to! Thanks!
I am sorry I missed Rachel. She’s a gem. Thanks for reminding me why I did. It was Issa-ptooey. He came on and the tv just clicked off. strange.
i must be getting too short-tempered in my dotage. but at least the BP meds are unnecessary because of the long-armed clicker-offer-reach-around.
i owe Rachel a visit to re-run-ville, or somethin’.
Re: Cheney. Yeah 37% is high. But more important, he is showing us now who really was prez for those 8 years. FU W is what he’s saying; I’m the power, and you were a snot nosed little kid.
Interestingly, tying into your comment @45, Hawaii had such an overcrowding of prisons they were forced to ship off large numbers to the mainland(by federal court order) and it actually spawned a building boom for CCA at various locales… Now, the State is reeling from the hefty price tag… Ironically, much of the cause for it was because each Isle adamantly said NIMBY…!
my trubble was that i read every last word from Marci, in horror and fascination at her determination and expertise, then all the good comments her piece generated. I was so wrought-up, and then encountered the stale coconut-cream-pies on the telly. just didn’t have the patience. Bah!
Oxycontin rots the brain.
couldn’t help but notice the shirt/collar pulling tic in the vids – jes sayin’
I find it stunning that after all that obsessing about secrecy, he’s coming out, almost frantic with his self-serving spin. It’s as if there’s a real person in there after all, albeit a hideously grotesque, warped and dangerous one. I never kick a deadly snake, even a faltering one, but there’s a strange fascination in watching it writhe in its terminal agony.
i can dream. it used to be a free country, according to some.
Speaking of which the intrepid EW has a brand spanking new post up…!
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
Namaste
Dang! My sweetie just announced we’re out the door on yet another junket to get rid of our excess junk. sigh. I’ll have to catch her later.
Something to look forward to. Thanks for the headsup!
Stay safe, pups. bbl.
mebbe his’n bra strap was twisted. I hate that. *g*
More FBI financed terror threats..hoping it would end with Bush/Chaney.
It’s always seemed to me to be impossible to prevent all future acts of terrorism in this country. Sooner or later, one is very likely and Cheney et. al. will get to say “I told you.” It’s a pretty cheap investment in demagogery. I’ve always thought the population should be told that the government will do it’s best, but basically we need to suck it up and quit whimpering.
lets make sure to ignore the Obama DOJ’s ruling against Valerie Plame Wilson, who cares about her now that there is a Democrat in power?
Obama admin. opposes Joe and Valerie Wilson’s request for Supreme Court appeal in suit against Cheney, Rove, Libby and Armitage
http://www.citizensforethics.org/node/39740
reams and reams of writing went up at FDL about all aspects of the Plame case, but now she and her husband can get pitched under the bus by the Obama DOJ, and its down the memory hole. remarkable.
Color me curious. Cheney’s acting so strange lately. The angst is palpable as he gasps his way through recent interviews.
Do you think he’s desperate to see some concrete validation of his fear-mongering?
Do you think he’s dissembling? Or is he so far ’round the bend he prays for mayhem every night in his little bunion-footed pj’s?
Would he desire, would he even be likely to aid and abet such a dreadful thing?
I don’t trust him. Sick or sober, nuts or bolting, he makes my skin crawl.
how ’bout mending yer own tent? D’OH!
