Luke Doucet ‘The Day Rick Danko Died"
Megan Mullins "Just Someone You Used To Know"Luke Doucet caught my attention solely due to the name of his song. I kept coming back because it’s so good. I don’t know how I stumbled across Megan Mullins, but she sounds like a young Bonnie Raitt in this acoustic setting.
What’s on your mind tonight?

Doucet. Got a twinge.
I really think that the lack of response here is technical…
He’s alright… for a Canadian. /s
Hey Everyone!
The one-hit-wonder Jerry Doucette, from Quebec, popped into my head.
Dude’s stuff never made it to CD I believe.
Hi CE, What do you mean?
hi chris
Nothing, just the time response is so lacking. Hey, Hi!
newt, pal.
How are you?
hot!
there’s bay to the east about 100 yards, and the Pacific Ocean about 30 miles west. it is 85 right now.
test
Evening Pups… I was lurking today in Peterr post “team-obama-caught-bringing-a-football-to-a-basketball-game” and POOF it was gone!! I think it was pulled because someone was predicting/postulating a “Revolution” by the people of the US. Was interesting while it lasted….
Cold! We had frost warnings last night. My poor tomato plants have been living on and off under plastic.
That’s what I mean, ummm, test?
Dam Newt it is in the 60’s here… Talk about micro climates!!!
I experienced a hiccup of some sort.
It’s back up now. Hi nahant.
it’s earthquake hot. muggy and still. and 85
Hi Chris!
John Fogerty played Halifax, NS Monday night. No special guests.
Better? Hi nahant.
Prescient one you are..)
Hey Margot! How are you?
I’m fine, just wish I already had tomato plants.
I read somewhere in the last couple of days… a new Credence album is on it’s way. Wonder if it includes Fogerty?
Thanks love!
Have a lecture about Tiffany and the Wade Chapel tomorrow.
Sounds exquisite.
If you’ve not seen it, I recommend this Salon article by Marcy: “The Thirteen People Who Made Torture Possible.”
Every time I read about the likely course health care “reform” is likely to take this year… I just have a one wrd response. No.
The fine art bubble has burst, according to this.
Crayola… the new black. /s

unbelievable… shrubco’s pentagon briefings quoted the Bible at all briefings. We actually were a theocracy for eight years, and our armed forcs were literally crusaders waging a war for their gods.
Yep. Rachel beat Rumsfeld like a drum about this tonight.
She named the segment, “Donald, Duck.”
Thanks for the link, wigwam.
I’m going to be writing about torture all week at my place. Only two of us are covering it seriously up here. Shannyn Moore is the other one.
Hey ET – Shannyn has been on MSNBC a few times recently, usually about she-who-is-not-worth-two-shits-Governor.
Nice db image!
heading over to read it now.
So much is up in the air right now that it leaves me feeling odd. I think maybe we need that “new foundation” to get grounded, supported and back to Reality. Every time something, like the torture stuff, from the Bush era comes back into the press it’s very depressing (used to be surreal, but that’s gone).
We really need to nail down the past and put it away. And, at the same time, we need to keep all the new initiatives moving along.
Meanwhile, in Pakistan a lot of the Taliban (perhaps younger less committed members) have been slipping away by shaving off beards and mingling with refugees as they escape southward and some Afghan Taliban are escaping over/through mountains into Afghanistan. We need an endgame there. I’m beginning to wonder if there is really any Al Qaeda in that group. Where in the world is Waldo bin Laden and his pet mad-dog Zawahiri?
Juan Cole on Moyers last week, made a strong case suggesting the number of actual taliban is very low. A few thousand.
But the current military pursuit of the “few thousand” has displaced nearly two million Pakistan citizens.
“Where in the world is Waldo bin Laden and his pet mad-dog Zawahiri?”
Probably hanging out on Second Life with Waldo Cheney and his pet mad-dog Scooter.
Hi Eureka Springs…dude
Right on that was a good segment on moyers COlonel Ricks says said on his book salon here yesterday he reads Cole everyday…still wnts us to occupy the ME “Endless war”
Me I was out on the Bay about 6:30PM getting all aerobic and detoxing those free radicals, Strong Black and green tea (gunpowder)
Hope you all are staying alkaline
My duplex neighbor that keeps me sleep deprived with his boom boom base is wearing the court ankle bracelet as he is a three time DUI and just out of college. Sounds like the court is bending over backward to work with him. He does not cut slack but sure takes a lot…mine is about used up. Almost lost it lasy night 36 hours of booming so low it vibrates the framing.
Knock Knock..who’s there?
I just initiated PA’s “Our Government Tortured Lots of People to Death” Week with Part One.
good tunes, ES. nice jaunty-bluesy guitar work in the first
Hi bb, I missed Ricks.. Kind of glad I did since he’s still for that needless war.
Find his breaker box. /s
Thanks punaise.I think I will keep an ear on Doucet for sure.
In the garage I have a aircompressor that is LOUD S)
Hmmmm.
Brazil and China eye plan to axe dollar
By Jonathan Wheatley in São Paulo
Published: May 18 2009 18:24 | Last updated: May 18 2009 23:31
Brazil and China will work towards using their own currencies in trade transactions rather than the US dollar, according to Brazil’s central bank and aides to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Brazil’s president.
The move follows recent Chinese challenges to the status of the dollar as the world’s leading international currency.
Mr Lula da Silva, who is visiting Beijing this week, and Hu Jintao, China’s president, first discussed the idea of replacing the dollar with the renminbi and the real as trade currencies when they met at the G20 summit in London last month.
There is a bunch of very good stuff on the torture issue on the recommended list over at Daily Kos. This one is particularly good: http://dailykos.com/story/2009…..ng-stopped
Wow, a young Bonnie Raitt. IOW, same guitar solo, uh, actually, same song.
