Up late. Or early, I can’t tell.
Could events FORCE anyone to discuss torture, the implications and consequences?
I see that FOX is pushing the Catholic/ND issue hard, but that they are the only ones doing it. Anyone have a guess why?
Why do conservative Republicans and Right thinkers oppose common decency?
How in the hell do these phony people get away with calling themselves “pro-life”? You can’t call yourself “pro-life” if you support the death penalty and preemptive wars.
These people are all about marketing.
Wow, Good Morning, This is when I can usually catch Chris Matthews….most of the 1st segment on torture, with a sum up about Cheney’s omnipresence….THEN, compares Cheney to Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction…..You can’t just forget about me….. Fun.
that’s a big mistake in marketing for them, we WANT to investigate nancy, first, it will prove the accuracy of her statements or it will prove she’s a liar
second, along with her investigation goes the republican party’s
Will the Nancygasm climax today?
Mornin’, gang -
Melanie Sloan from CREW is gonna be the only political thing for me today……have just had it up to the last hair on my head (and it’s very short hair) with the crap being dropped by the so-called MSM this past week. Just can. not. take. it any more…..looks like a good day for yard work if the weather continues to cooperate.
Nawwww….it’s the new v! @ gr @ for the talking/writing pundits. :-((((
Good morning.
Cheney’s gonna give a torture speech at AEI on May 21.
getting hot for him, I wonder how he’s going to address the fact that he tortured to get information he knew as a fact was false
DFHs: More and better Democrats.
AEIs: More and better torture.
I think that’s what he’s most proud of. After all, Saddam Hussein is gone.
I think he was most proud of putting him in office in the first place too
fickle fellow that dick
Have absolutely NO doubt that he has a tape of *that* ending to run whenever he needs to get his jollies off. :-(
Who was it who said that more dangerous than being the U.S. foe is being the U.S. ally? Kissinger?
We live in a world of information manipulation where marketing drives all decisions and creates some sort of consensus. Nothing is as it appears, unless you look deeply and peel back the layers of lies, spin, distortion and get to the hidden agendas.
Many of those hidden agendas are about money and power, making it, staying in it and doing on the backs of others on one level or another. This is what it’s all about and what we see is some sort of meta level confusing, distorted and never the real story.
There are some many who play this game that it’s very hard for the average person to have a clue, or be educated as to what is going down. The media of course is basically in the game and part of the problem and rarely part of the solution. But there are some who do manage to reveal some truth and get it into print. But few and they are marginalized and ridiculed.
We do have or did have some laws which could be used to hold people accountable. They rarely are and the justice system is neither blind nor free of corruption. And in the case of “enemy combatants” they don’t get a trial in a real justice system – but one made up just for them. How quaint!
There is a very stacked deck out there as far as truth justice and equity is concerned. Schmucks are getting away with murder, mayhem, torture, robbery, perjury, and lots of money.
A blast from the past. April, 2003, to be exact:
Pentagon Chafes at Failure to Find Banned Iraqi Arms
Total idiots, especially those suits they carted in against chem weapons.
Morning! Pleasantly chilly outside here.
Cheney surely has his tapes, prolly couldn’t bring himself to destroy them
There’s a smug torture apologist on WJ, Gizzi. Turns out he’s the one with the loud cell phone that even WH briefings can’t silence.
What a jerk.
Investigate ALL involved in torture and let the chips fall where they may.
John Gizzi (rabid conservative on cspan) sez U.S. has to keep torture techniques secret. Guess he hasn’t noticed that horse is out of the barn.
Morning all,
John Gizzi reminds me of Mr. McGoo
Barney Frank’s brother.
P.S. How rude of me – thank you Elliott
Thanks. I was trying to figure that out. Never seen anyone with eyebrows so far above his eyeglasses.

That’s not rude! It would be rude to call him a pompous, arrogant fuckhead.
You’re welcome! Hope Spring is in full flower out there in the foothills.
There’s been too much rain to take out my big tractor. It makes ruts in soft ground. And it’s cold & dreary outside. It’s a reading day. Gonna finish Galbraith’s Crash of 1929.

Nancy brought her problems upon herself. On behalf of her client, Israel, Nancy and Harry Reid conspired with the Republican leadership to obstruct justice with her illegal meme: “impeachment is off the table.”
She was a co-conspirator, enabling of the Cheney Administration to to pull off a successful coup on behalf of his Shadow Government compatriots in league with Israel and the NWO. Israel subsequently used its Mossad wiretaps to facilitate blackmail – as evidence of the Administration’s complicity in 9/11 was used to blackmail the Shadow Government and its co-conspirators (Congress).
Israel double-crossed the Administration, then the Administration double-crossed Pelosi after having carried water for them throughout the entire 8 years to keep impeachment “off the table.”
Eat shit, Nancy. You’re no less a traitor than the rest of the co-conspirators who placed Israel’s desire to create “Eretz Israel,” above the desires of the American people. You are in every sense of the word, a traitor.
Obstruction Of Justice is the biggest problem that we all face right now. If the system were allowed to work, all these bastards would be in prison already. Obama either needs to let the system work, or hang with the rest of the co-conspirators for obstructing justice.
Viguery likes all the R govs like Palin & Jindal. Good on him.
I see Michael Steele will be on MTP. I wonder if he is going to retract previous statements or make new statements that he will need to retract tomorrow.
that’s great!!! rofl…
to have a standard, you have to have something to base it on..
like an opinion to start with…to compare it to. and to have an opinion, usually some knowledge and experience is used on which to base that opinion..you hope anyway.
example, using a food example cuz i’m hungry..
i like grilled cheese, so, i have an opinion on grilled cheese. i then have a standard on which i base whether it is a good one or a bad one, whether it is up to par or not..or, like some, i may have no standards or opinions and will eat any grilled cheese put in front of me…
i think maybe david gregory is an ‘anything on the menu’ kinda guy.

Gregory’s doing wonders for MTP ratings:
David Gregory’s “Meet The Press” Ratings Hit New Low — The Sunday Morning Horse Race Is On
Viguery thinks he’ll win on the issues. I say, bring it on.
David Gregory is a vapid idiot. Why anyone would pick him for an important show is a mystery to me.
Good Sunday Morning to Youse Guys.
Hey, D. I like grilled cheese too. And, it seems like an apt metaphor for the talking heads thread. But, it seems too few cheeses are grilled. They just make their talking point du jour and that’s pretty much it. Know what I mean?
Viguery hearts him all the rabid right talk show hosts, esp Limpballs. Guess he has been asleep since he invented direct mail.

he has very nice manners.

yep….i tried to choose a non-partisan food. not too spicy, not too bland. can be adapted in a variety of ways to fit many tastes. but i bet most have an opinion on how they like it. and have a standard on whether they would order it again from a restaurant or whether they would let someone else make it or make it themselves, like eggs.same thing for eggs…except maybe david. bet he says, just ‘feed me’. ‘feed me, seymour’, like little shop of horrors.
Don’t feel bad if you don’t get to my Q. Someday, somewhere there will be a time when it gets answered. But thanks for keeping it in mind.

Good morning all.
Oh please Vigurie, Left wing media bias? you can’t be serious.
it’s not a cage bird unless you insist on putting it in a cage.
Since we’re finding out today that U.S. soldiers are still torturing and abusing prisoners down at GITMO, I would like to know what the right wing minority party of today is going to do about it? Will they stand against torture or will they still maintain it’s the only way to keep our nation safe? And if they do either, according to them, the MINORITY PARTY IS ALWAYS TO BLAME (just like they blame Nancy for the torture under George Bush)!
If the right wingers stand AGAINST TORTURE, then we can call them “spleeny Democrats who don’t want to keep America safe”…
and,
If they come out swinging for torture, then Americans will see how barbaric the right wingers truly are and we can blame them as the minority party for not doing anything to stop it!
Should be fun to see how this all plays out.
heh. mebbe i WILL listen in.
Happy Birthday MM!
party cupcakes all around…
Sweet. I think he’s coming back from NY tonight. I talk with my sissy everyday. I’ll give him a few to settle in and then email it to her.
Thanks Elliot, gotta love the cupcakes.
For some reason I get his emails to my White Noise Insanity account. He must have come by my blog one day and thought I should see things his way. LOL
Happy Birthday to Millinery Man!
Put another candle on your birthday cake. Make a wish! And, many happy returns.
Things settling down for you a bit?
no kidding!
I’d pay to see you take him on *g*
-um-, satisfying, gratifying, justifiable, but “fun”???! literally, OUCH!
apologies… i woke up on the scold side of the bed & the kitties had stolen all the covers.

Oh, be still, my heart. Thanks for the warning.
Luckily I still carry my Captain Caveman Troll Basher club with me wherever I go! LOL Poor Richard. He wouldn’t know what hit him. ;-)
Good one! G’morning, fhm.
“Fun” refers to the right wingers trying to figure out how to approach the current torture situation down at GITMO. If they’re against Nancy for “ordering it” under George Bush, then they have to be against torture today. But since they’re for torture today and were back then, then it will be fun to see how they formulate a strategy to make themselves not look like ’spleeny Democrats who don’t want to keep America safe’ by being against torture, Nancy, and President Obama.
Okay, maybe it will be fun for me to watch this! LOL
Yeah, well, Grumpy’s here! *g*
Hey, Barbara. How’s my favorite swede doing? Haven’t talked to you in a while.
G’morning Barbara
Happy birthday MM! Hope it’s a great one.
Happy Birthday, Millineryman! Hope you have a great day. ;-)
It’s quite fun actually. Things are ok, dealing with dental problems and no insurance right now.
That’s ok, as long as there icing I’m fine.
Mornin’, Elliott, pups
I heard a portion of an interview with Van Jones on my community radio station this morning. The last thing he talked about was the 3 fallacies driving both political parties for the last 30 years:
An economy driven by consumers vice production was sustainable indefinitely.
An economy driven by credit vice savings and thrift was sustainable indefinitely.
An economy driven by environmental destruction vice conservation and innovation was sustainable indefinitely.
I’ve emailed the host of Critical Times for a link to the whole interview.
Hey, girl! I’m chugging along. Moving in two weeks. So much stuff, so little time. How’re things in your constellation?
Thanks eCahn
Here MM. A gift for your day. It’s bittersweet, but at least the bird wasn’t stuck in a cage. Lyrebirds don’t lie.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuFyqzerHS8
Thanks Kay.
You didn’t get some kind of cobra plan with the lay off? One of the down sides of aging is the toothy issues.
Van Jones is an awesome speaker, thinker but I hear tell he’s one of those waaaaay scary community organizers. /s We met him at Take Back America (now renamed, but I can’t remember the new moniker) last year.
gotcha and agreed. it just fries my socks though that the wingers seem so comfy with such a multifaceted bag full of “values”. how do they sleep at night?!
I can’t remember (even given your screen name) if you’re up in the cooler clime or down closer to the hot stuff. Not yet baking the body season?
I don’t envy you. That’s a lot of work. Best of luck in your new place, tho, new opportunities await.
Just catching up with the thread. HB, MM!!! It’s a good thing.
they keep surrounding my icing with cake and stuff. oh well, I guess the only polite thing to do…
just closing down a 3-week cake binge. The last one I bought, the girl said “you know, we can put a message on this for free”.
I thought about “Happy Trash Day, Jay!” – but decided to just let it go.
Oh, I’m chugging along too. Dealing with the death of a good friend. Her funeral was yesterday. I thought of you, btw, when the choir sang. We sang words that included …I hold you in my heart. I thought of the time I sent you that ee cummings poem.
But enough of that. I’ve missed hearing the skinny on your move. Dish it girlfriend. Where are you going? Sold the house? What up?
(((Elliott))) Howdy. And thanks for your optimistic take on this. I suspect you’re right, but at the moment, I can’t see the future for the mountain of boxes and achy bones. All y’all are welcome to come by for a six-pack packathon! *g*
That’s a rather serious case of the munchies.
Morning Barbara! You’re better organized than we, by far. I’m jealous. I just found myself asking my sweetie just to “leave those things for me” as he tipped over the same pile of plastic dishes for the 3rd day in a row. A protest? We play the roles. You decide. I could put them in boxes and seal them up, but then we’d be eating off of paper. hmmmmmm.
You crack me up, Jayt. Thanks for the smile.

Good Morning everyone…. I think I turned a major corner sometime during the night…… woke up around 1am and I was just overjoyed……. could not tell you why but was.
Well I’m bald as a Q-ball… actually have a Cupie Doll look……. My father has more hair than I do…….
my lawyer advises me to not admit a goddamned thing.
that guy’s a pain.
It’s all screwed up, the insurance company had the wrong address and some paperwork never got to me, yadda, yadda, yadda.
Thanks barbara.
((((katymine))))
;->
Good Morning katymine, so nice to see you — hair or no hair –
Oh, demi, so sorry about your friend. Good friends are supposed to be with us to the end of time, eh? But we never get to vote on that. Yup, sorry.
Found a townhome (one-story, part of a quad) not far away. On a little pond (think Waldenette) with trees all over the place. Will be limited to patio gardening, which is more my speed than the 20+ gardens I will forever miss. The house will revert to the feral foursome. It is what it is. But it’s time.
katymine !
good, good, good. that oh so adorable Elmore said you looked hot
Mornin’ Firedogs
you’re right, as usual. i wonder what would happen if we sent him to a tanning salon…. *turns on sunlamp*
I glanced at the tv screen yesterday & saw this scrawl on cnn: “Is the recession over?”. I didn’t watch the program..just another cable news episode of stupid answers to stupid questions.
I listened to NPR Planet Money Adam Davidson’s recent 74 min interview with Elizabeth Warren. According to Davidson a healthy banking system is the urgent issue. American families in financial crisis is Warren’s ‘pet issue’. Davidson can’t find any economist to talk to that thinks the banking crisis and household debt crisis are equally acute. He was scornful of Warren’s view that the two crises do not exist independently, that she is not in the “main stream” & called the american family crisis “your issue”. Warren said, “It’s not my issue. It’s America’s issue!”. It was heated. I was very impressed with Warren. Davidson has been in the financial bubblehead club too long.
Great to see you here!
Wow! You “sound” terrific, girl! Think Magic 8-ball. That way, whatever you say is deemed wise and instructive!! Oh, wait. That’s how it was with hair. Never mind, then! (((katymine)))
I hate Kaine
Oh Katymine! You’re beautiful! We’ve missed you. Welcome back! ;->
Thanks Ellie. She was only 77. Massive heart attack. My other really good girlfriend is 90. I’m only 57, btw. My sister told me last week it looks like I need to make some younger girlfriends. Yup.
Elizabeth Warren is Paul Revere
here she is w/ Maher on friday night:

Ya know, this could make a great party game. Let’s dream up our own crawl Q’s. Answers optional and need not reflect facts.
Reporting for duty. will 67 pass muster? *salutes*
I hate when that happens. But, whoever screwed up the address still has a paying job, right?
(((katymine))) If one wakes up alive everything on top of that is gravy, or for some folks icing.
In the 80s I had a gurlfren who suffered from a condition that resulted in a permanent totally hairless body. Didn’t affect who she was 1 whit. She said the best thing about it was never having to shave her legs again. *g*
OMG I love the Chainsaw Bird! LOL
Sure is funny how warm your own hair is….. Going to breakdown and buy a wig since at 1/2 inch/month…… It will be fall before something would look like real hair.
You’re gorgeous, Katymine! ;-)
Nancy brought on her own problems, hmmmm. Yes very true, it’s the Rovian fascist tried and true tactic…play up Dem weakness. It always works.
True ’nuff. Northerners are told to wear hats, scarves, whatever since some huge percent of body heat is lost via the head. That’s about Democrats. Republicans lose brain cells, apparently. Moral: Never, ever trust a bald Republican!
I hate to leave, but I’m needed to tend other stacks of stuff around here, or we’ll never move. Yes. I still have the saddle I used decades ago. Why do you ask? Memories should suffice without clutter to bolster them, I know, I know. bbl.
Nice to see you Katymine.
Oh, hell, yes! Wish we lived close enough to share a cup of tea together. I’d help with your packing too. Wish I could help Barbara too.
Maybe, maybe not I don’t know. NJ has charity care for people without insurance so I’m applying for that. There’s a clinic the next town over, it’s just a matter of getting an appointment. I have some pain and this is kind of an emergency so hopefully they can do something for me.
Have fun, Adie! Moving stinks, but as with everything, we can always find ways to make it fun using lots of sarcastic humor. You’ll need it. ;-)
That would be a lot more fun if we got the paychecks that the writers on cable news get. OTH, the writers of the crawls on Keith Olbermann’s Countdown deserve every penny. Hilarious stuff.
Hey, Adie, when are you moving?
See, that means I’d have to watch teevee. Actually need to make a decision about cable placement in the new digs. Would closet be a weird choice? I may have to start watching MSNBC when I emerge from this moving thingie.
“This just in: Did George W. Bush run off with Jimmy Hoffa?”
Oh and now I can taste coffee now…… weeks without coffee….
Oh, katymine, I totally get the significance of this. I am so happy for you. Welcome back!!!
For the past 2 weeks or so, we have had a robin obsessed with trying to get into our house. First he has been concentrating on the south & east windows, continually thumping into the windows. Yesterday it was the north windows. This am he has tried the west windows. This is one strange robin. Also extremely annoying, esp when we get woken up by the thumps.
The house will revert to the feral foursome.
grrrr…..
hope you made ‘em pay for your life estate.
Try some sort of decals on your windows. I don’t know what would keep a robin away, but there must be something. Also, there must be a kind of decal that sticks to glass via static electricity so you can move it when the bird picks another window.
I have a robin trying to build a nest on my back porch and a phoebe on my front porch. I’ve knocked both nests down about a dozen times each. Can’t think of anything else to do. They make a huge mess.
Try some sort of decals on your windows.
do they make Limbaugh decals?
never mind – that would cover all the window space.
How about a dick cheney sneery-face?
Tried that. Didn’t faze him a bit. I’ve even stood right in front of the window when he flew directly at my face & veered off just before he hit the pane when he saw me. 30 seconds later he was at it again. Something not right with this bird.
The phoebe just sits on the railing with nest making muck in her mouth, kind of a sneer, waiting for me to leave. Only if I get up and fling something at her does she leave. I resorted to the hose. The robin, otoh, waits until I’m gone and then hurries up to finish the nest before I get back.
Rush decals, lol. Better yet would be a video of black suited Rush bouncing up & down. I know that scares the daylights out of me every time I see it.
Every time his head hits the glass his problem probably worsens. The bird must be a republican.*g*

That must be it!
My husband is laughing at the Limbaugh decal & republican remarks.
Didn’t Frank Sinatra have a song about a ram with a similar derangement?
well, one good thing is, you won’t have to test your food anymore when they serve it to you…and your life will have way less stress without them in the middle of every waking moment.
being happy really is the best thing. when you know how to do that, you will always learn and grow and have a safe place to call your own, the rest doesn’t really matter. they don’t know how to do that one, so won’t be, but it won’t be in your ‘yard’ anymore.
I have no idea. Never been a Sinatra fan.
I’m late, but had to answer the question on who Gizzi is. He has to be Tom Bosley’s evil twin.
Otherwise, I listened to Mario Cuomo this morning can avoid the others today.
my mom’s neighbor had a neurotic robin constantly banging on his dining room window..was a mess.we tried every remedy we could find. drove him nuts.none worked, until he hung a sheet on the outside of the window. then taped brown paper up when it worked. he was that desperate to end it. poor bird, don’t know how it lived through it. came back two years in a row.
another friend had two cardinals doing it..they just stopped one day.
a lot of times it’s your shiny clean windows, they see their reflection and are being territorial.
decals work sometimes.
lol
Once, sitting in a van having a discussion with Sioux elders and medicine men, a golden eagle swept by with the feathers on his wing grazing the windsheild as he looked in at us. Everyone considered it a spiritual message.
Another way to keep unwanted birds off your property is to put up some fake owls on it. Works like a charm in most instances.
Actually I have to watch that. My sweetie lost his sense of humor when the same dang stack of plastic dishes I have no trubble with tipped over for him the 4th time in a row. I finally suggested he leave that specific project to me. Now how do I tactfully keep him off the trapeze?
And as for all you human trespassers onto birdieland, what’s the dang fuss?!
You make or usurp the conditions, and they react. Bah dah boom!
Put some slope shaped thingie, i.e., tilted, like me, in the way of the robin’s fave spot.
Be thankful for the phoebes, for they will keep thou from turning the air blue over your “mosquito problem” later on, if you just leave them be. If you just cannot abide the dear birdies, look for an overhang on a shed or barn or whatever, in neutral territory outside your personal war zone. Affix there-upon a little ledge just under said overhang, clean up thy language and point to it next time you see Ms. Phoebe, NICELY. Oh, and if you just MUST keep your lives totally apart, put a barrier up denying the poor phoebe access to proper nesting platform.
egad. some of my best friends are phoebes.
Robins and windows. Wait a bit, and the testosterone level will ease up when he’s got babes to feed. Like most good dads, Mr. Robin’s a bit over-the-top during sporting season. Or hang draperies on the outside surface of all the windows in your house. Or close your shutters and live in the dark, like Dick.
or you smelled like carrion. Long trip?
forgive me for this one. outta bounds. i’ve lost my mind. *smacks self upside head*
I’m going. I’m GOING! Honest! pardon. please return to your regular programming.
