Poodles!
good evening, ES.
Good evening.
evenin’
howdy ES & Pups!
Neuro, did you have storms today.. A front just moved into ES area. Looks like it came from your direction.
Hi SunnyN and ndfg..)
Wow! Almost 91k on the thermometer for Emptywheel!
we had heavy thunderstorms for much of the day, were in a tornado watch as well as a flood warning for a while. looking at the TV, however, it was my impression that our weather was moving from southwest to northeast…not saying the same front could not have affected you as well, it seemed to extend pretty far south.
Hi Nuero
Hi ES
Hi world of the late nite “Zombies on Broadway” (Bud Abbott and Lou Costello comedy)
Them banks is hanted I do believe…I went into B of A branch and greeted them warmly with hi Zombie bankers followed by you don’t look like Zombies. She said her stock went down 2 dollars this week…was 12.
So how in the world are you all?
The match of $5000 the other night drew a lot of us to open our wallets. Hope they’ll see if they can get another match to encourage us to do it again……or several more and bigger matches.
hey bb I’m fine, how are you?
thanks to a front that just moved thru, we got rain here and there, but the aftermath is temperatures flirting with freezing for the next few nights. Just doesn’t pay to put tomatoes etc out too early. Not that i did knowing what weather can do in the upper midwest.
Hi Dearie, I do too.
You made me think of Laurel and Hardy meets Santana. They must have been dancing outside of a B of A. /s
Hi everyone….
My God the world is funked up these days….. who knows… it is a mad mad world
Wow, hi katymine!
hi katy how are you doing?
Hi Katymine — so good to see you. Hope you are recovering according to predictions. Care to share your prognosis with us? Yeh, we’re (I’m) nosy. But more, much more, than that, we (I) really care about you and always send you best wishes and lots of hugs.
Improving every day…It was the decadron that messed me up and I’m about 80-85% recovered. Nothing like expressive aphasia to do that……
Let me get some pills and then I will explain ……
Here in New England tomatoes go in the ground after Memorial Day
I still haven’t even run the tiller in my patch it’s still too early to plant .Prolly do it this weekend!
april 15 here. But it can bite you on the, uh… seedling, as late as mid May.
We have tomatoes on the vine and some of the vines are already over 3.5 ft long.
This guy is broadcasting fireworks from wikiki now.
The prognosis is terminal….Of course we are considered all terminal…
But working to become stable ….. Arrest the growth of tumors….. I have lung, just recovering from whole brain radiation which zapped the tumors. I’m on IV chemo weekly (my insurance does not pay for FDA approved drugs for 6 months). The newest drug Afinitor was approved 3/30 so can’t start it until Oct 1st. This drug is a pill that is taken everyday.
Had a wonderful exchange with the planet about 7pm I rolled the scull down to the Bay…it was high sunset mild breeze and pretty calm water and got in my 3 mile row. Our beautiful sun was clear of fog and clouds. Just a great ending to this week.
Looks like sunlight on the perps who torture. A satisfying week.

MY Version Of ‘Grizzly Bear’, Long Ago
Youngbloods played my hi school in San Mateo in my senior year, ‘71. They were then long haired, and still, the bomb. And they did Grizzly Bear, too . . . Guess we all got our Grizzly’s . . . ;-)
Hmm, wonder if they played in ‘70 or earlier? Mind is a trippiing now, as it was then. But they played there. *G*
Yeah, Mr Super California.. with citrus trees in his yard./s
kfog posted a really nice studio acoustic session with The Dead this week.
I know that bay so well. Painted it many times when I lived there. The light is amazing.
Having the “Sun” on a regular basis kinda helps on them juicy Oranges and Lemons that are just hanging there just asking to be picked….
I wonder if Pelosi is sleepless tonight, wishing she had spoken up years ago?
I wonder if Pelosi is sleepless tonight, wishing she had spoken up years ago?
katy, you’re a trouper and an inspiration.
That is sweet…like a madrigal…very nice instrumentation thoughtful…very nice
Katymine, I saw this article on ginger and thought of you. I’m so glad you’re here.
She may be awake wishing her name wasn’t being mentioned on NPR News on the Hour every single bloody hour.
I just caught up with the blog posts today. You know sometimes I have been a harsh critic of Atrios on a few things. However, I have to agree with him that he has never advocated that urban living is for everybody. Moreover, I think Atrios would be appalled if EVERYONE moved to the cities. The density problems would outweigh the various advantages with that. The infrastructure would be too massive to efficiently handle it.
Hi Mary I will sleep like a log tonight missed a week.
Do you have a link to those paintings? Would be interesting. I have difital pics but no sight. I can email if you want to put some up.
Had a great stir fry tonight cabbage, red potatoes, cauliflower, onions, red peppers, carrots and broccoli with squaw bread…happy happy.
Sounds like you have an interesting program going on. I love the EOC energy conservation program. Used it twice as a renter.
big brother, Doesn’t get any better in my book…) Glad you enjoyed it too. Here’s the same studio session. Deep Ellum Blues.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aPZ7xKwFFys
hey I posted that message thinking I was at Eschaton. Wowsa! And I don’t even drink.
Well I was wondering, PonchoLefty. *s*.. Glad you stumbled in anyhow.
You’re among others who occasionally forget where the hell whatever we were looking for is.
Careful your down home ‘tude is showing S)
Margot your making me laugh…small world isn’t it now?
Excellent.
Margot’s right!
Welcome to RedState, PonchoLefty!
Well when I’m blog jumping I often forget which place I am in. Anyway. Nice to see you folks. I am unhappy with Obama’s attempt to move torture off the stage announcing health care reform. The plan doesn’t include individual universal coverage and I think he’s backpedaling from his campaign platform.
2:30 am here ,don’t know why I’m still awake
Goodnight pups see ya another time
Mah Gawd … don’t yawl evvuh sleep ? *g*
Good night, billybugs.
Dude, it’s early.
Sleep? I just took my last exam today for the year. I am wired up. Now all I have to do is find a summer job. That should be easy huh? (snarky question).
ES !
Yes, it is early … in fact, it’s only 2:45 a.m. in Toronto ;-)
Has anyone seen the movie Flight of the Red Balloon? It’s the footage used in tonight’s Grizzly Bear video… and I really liked it. Wondering if it’s a good movie?
Nope, I did see The Red Violin though and highly recommend it !
Ah,,, well you are an hour later than my zone.
Hey now.
Me too headed to the zone nice post happily Katymine came out of her treatment with all her faculties. See ya next time folks. Keep on truckin’

G’nite all … kiddies want to go for an early morning walk on the nearby trail.
Al jazeera has a lot of our war news today.
‘Thousands flee’ Taliban-held town
Pakistanis fled Mingora any way they could after
the military lifted its curfew [AFP]
Tens of thousands of civilians have fled from a Taliban-occupied town in northwest Pakistan’s Swat valley after the country’s military suspended its curfew, according to officials.
People rushed out of Mingora on Friday after the government relaxed its restrictions around the city and advised civilians to leave.
“People are leaving in large numbers … They are vacating their homes,” Arsha Khan, a local administration official, said.
Pakistan’s military is pursuing its 20th day of operations against suspected Taliban bases in the districts of Swat, Buner and Lower Dir in the country’s North West Frontier Province (NWFP)

Deaths in US drone raid on Pakistan
At least three people have been killed in an attack on suspected al-Qaeda and Taliban targets by an unmanned US drone aircraft in Pakistan, intelligence officials have said.
The drone fired two missiles into the Khaisor area of North Waziristan’s ethnic Pashtun tribal region on Saturday, hitting a house and a vehicle.
Thanks bb and Margot… adding it to my netflix queue now.
nite petro
G’ nite Petrocelli.
Hi Folks. (*Sets out the pitcher of chocolate martinis)
3:15am over here.
ES, I’d forgotten about the Red Balloon, it was a delightful little movie. (I’m sure the music in your link was great, but my sound card is fubar’d again) If you want a couple suggestions for other movies, look for The Triplets of Belleville and The city of lost children Both are very odd, very French, and absolutely charming.
–Beard5 (who’s working on Lace Experiment Mark IV. Aka “no damned fiber artform is going to get the better of me!”)
Hi beard5, thanks for the rec’s, I will check them out.
Sorry to hear your sound card is on the fritz.
It’s an interesting little short film, ES. I ended up seeing it at least once yearly thanks to my elementary school in the 80s. They liked showing that and Paddington Bear shorts on the old reel to reels that i still remember vividly. A michigan school that liked a lot of british educational things, for some reason.
I wasn’t big on Flight of the Red Balloon then, but who knows now as my tastes have changed (and not changed much at all) since i was that young. I was entertained by it, though.
Oh, so it’s a little kids movie.
hmmmm
Think I will sleep on it then.
Good night all.. thanks for the tips.
Night ES. Sleep well.
It’s a kids tale, but also an indie film. I think of it as a kids film because it was shown to me at a very young age. I just wasn’t aware of its history at that age, and haven’t looked it up in ages either. ^_^;; The story is good for all ages though.
Wow… sure fell asleep like a light. now need to decide if stay up or bag it
yo
Good morning. If anyone is there.
It’s reassuring to know that,
after several months of confusion,
the chattering class consensus is
returning to the idea that
big daddy Republicans are protectors of US national security.
ALL NANCY ALL THE TIME
I guess the Rahm Emanuel – David Brooks wing of the Democrat party isn’t happy with Nancy Pelosi.
Morning all, gawd I need coffee
Good morning everyone. There’s an anti-green screed going on on cspan2. It’s a riot.
Hey!
Did you see that Ted Sampley died?
good morning to all.
ecahn, windows are open and i’m just listening to the birds chirp. no cspan for me yet today. i love spring.
I see Obama got rid of Boumediene so he cannot embarrass yet another administration. I wonder how long we’ll have to wait for the interviews in the French press. It doesn’t say that the release was conditional on gagging him, but perhaps that’s a detail the WaPo didn’t think was important.
maybe pelosi can use the attention to pivot and call for an independent prosecutor to investigate the torture of detainees?
The crapping birds are still trying to build nests on my house. I’ve knocked down the phoebe nest on my front porch about a dozen times, and ditto for the robin nest on my back porch.
lol. send ‘em to my house.
At least the plastic owl I hang on my back porch keeps the barnswallows from trying to build their nest there. But the phoebes and the robins are not a bit intimidated. And it’s not as though thre isn’t enough space elsewhere to build nests. My “pet” mockingbird arrived back about a week ago. I’ve named him Cookie, and I love his serenade.
mocking birds are great fun, i’m glad cookie has returned to you. a young friend of mine in fl hand raised one and it now keeps her aunt (lives a few houses down the street) entertained while gardening. it’s even more bold than most mocking birds, not i guess, having learned to be very wary of humans.
have a great day!
