I like KO but the WTF segment is gonna get kinda old since he can never say the last word. It just looks a lil awkward when he cant finish his sentence.
He should change it to “What the hell?”
Gotta go. Late to shower.
To put things in perspective, the Bush torture policies, as depraved as they are, pale in comparison with the other assaults on humanity by the Bush crime mob.
- the Poppy-led murder of JFK
- the stealing of the 2000 election
- 9/11
- the unprovoked war on Iraq
Pity that more “Democrats” aren’t in fact democratic socialists. Perhaps then the U.S. would already have universal single payer healthcare, high speed rail, energy independence, a living wage for all workers, accountability for criminal corporatists and politicians, the ability of workers to organize in their workplace, a fair trade policy, the ability to actually manufacture products rather than “instruments”, of course the list could go on and on and on …………..
“DFemocrat Socialist” Matthews called it “childish” Saw him with somebody once (Kantor???? Don’t remember) who refereed to the “Democrat party” and Tweets told him to “cut the Mickey Mouse stuff.” Denocrat Socialist. Pathetic. Who thinks up this shit?
Those youngsters that KO said would still be voting in 2072 prolly love it. The network evening news, the Sunday bubbleheads, Limpdick and Billo are the shows targeting the Depends generation.
For anyone who was (or wasn’t) in scouting, this one will probably turn your stomach:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/05……html?_r=1
9/11 moron alert
That uis sick shit. How can BSA allow this?
Spoiled children. The Obama/dem haters are probably sucking it up like kool-aid but I can only hope that most of the country is reacting like I am……..these people claim *they* should be running the country?!!!!? Talk about cluster fucks lookin’ for a place to happen! :-(((
Our government is putting the finishing touches on the last chapter of the American experiment in democracy. It’s headed down the drain now and the winners are lining up to take their prizes as the rest of americas head off to slaughter and painful deaths.
The worst is yet to come.
American exceptionalism at its best!
All I had to do is read the pic caption for it to turn my stomach. What ever happened to camping out in the woods and shit? I was so proud of my first Scout uniform. First it was no gay scout leaders, now they’re playing guns. WTF.
Troll’s persistent. Gotta give it that.
roger that
I imagine the local papers have covered the prof’s demise more than the national media but that was one bizarre event.
Ain’t it just? It would appear the BSA has been taken over by the far-far-far reich wingers…just what we need….kids with that kind of training growing up to work in law enforcement.
Ya know….I used to have such respect for policepeople. After seeing and reading about the abuse some of them heap on suspects (including the use of tasers), I have absolutely no trust for anyone in a uniform – and never will again. Dog help us all because a lot of the people the military has recruited and trained are gonna come home and join law enforcement.
paul’s first comment on BT’s last link called it the “Baucus/AHIP/PhRMA “reform” bill” – that’s a good/accurate one i’m going to steal.
That highly paid ‘wordsmith’ guy, and grover nor’s-his-face.
i like trolls. especially the ones with the long blond hair. i had one years ago,i used to make clothes for him…and made an earring for him with a blue-headed straight pin..heh. 1969.
The point is that Obama wants to keep the torture “option on the table” and releasing those photos would so outrage the world that he’d have to take step that he doesn’t want to take to make sure that this nation never tortures again. In this regard, he is on Dick Cheney’s side. “Torture is sometimes the only option.”
Troll notwithstanding, there’s nothing more depraved than people in high office who think torture is good for America.
Yea, did you read that he had a mapquest to another prof’s house? He and this woman had a ling running conflict, the GBI told her to unsass the area.
you talkin about my pic?
then why did he at first agree (or do i have the history wrong)?
First it was no gay scout leaders, now they’re playing guns.
Priorities, right?
Good Morning Blue Texan and Firedogs,
help me out – did I hear a reference to The Taguba Report during yesterday’s hearing ? coulda sworn it was cited in refutation to either Graham’s or one of his witnesses bs
Dude must have been a real winner. The shallow grave bit was the first time I’d ever heard anything like that.
I started to watch the hearing last night but after Ms Graham’s screed and the 2 profs from the south who had no problem with torture I figured I was wastin’ my time.
typical faculty IMHO
Good morning Cbl.
oh yuck. description of industrial pork production on democracy now! this morning. think i will skip breakfast.
LOL
mornin’ scooter boy – sleep well ;) did ya ?
Norske asked me not to play with the troll today. Oh well….
Morning all,
Scouting used to teach useful stuff like how to use a compass and read a map, and start a fire with flint and steel. Today folks can’t get anywhere w/o a talking box (GPS) on the dashboard telling them every turn. My neighbor thinks north is straight up in the air, south is straight down, and east and west change like on the weathervane. surrounded by stoopid here.
It isn’t any fun anyhow. Only knows how to throw underhand and can’t catch.
Easyyyyy…….
We even learned how to start a fire with sticks. I still remember how to do that. Still always carry twine and a pocketknife with me.
Thanks for that. Needed a good laugh this morning.
Just finished givin the boss a 10 minute talk on the finer points of cost reduction negotiation from the supplier’s side. Customers want it all. Free, cheap and now.
and a walther i spect
how can you not?
they need to come out from the darkness under the bridge once in a while.
lol.
mornin’ selise
can you give me some direction as to how to find transcript of Senator Whitehouse’s hearing yesterday ? thanks
Morning all. I have good memories of my years as a scout and even better ones as a scout leader. It was very rewarding watching the kids grow and seeing the older ones teaching the younger kids.
LOL. Not any more. Until about 85 always had a PPK and Colt 1911 with me. Kept the Colt in the car, PPK in my pocket.
I had a couple of those little dolls too. We called them dam dolls. My mom wasn’t found of that. Maybe it was damn dolls. I don’t know. Mine had pink hair. Guess it wasn’t a BSA doll. *g*
my browser’s actin’ up again…may miss some comments. havin’ to restart over and over…guess i better close some tabs. ha.
sheriff smith in butler county is going launch a primary run against boehner…friends say he has some big backers and that boehner is only big in west chester, but i said the GOP money will crush it and ‘hamiltuckians’ will never let outsiders from cincinnati get away with backing a candidate.
http://news.cincinnati.com/art…../304280031
he’s a real looney bird.
http://www.svherald.com/articl…..656554.txt
Very busy today any way. I miss all the fun stuff.
i bet i will find mine in a box while finishing up going through my clutter. along with the caveman style clothes made in cheery flower prints..hence the matching blue ‘hippie’ earring..funny.
when you get your work done there will be sumpthin’ going on, don’t you fret.
i need to get going in a minute, too. just missed the mornin’ crew, been away a while.
When this dude was shooting people 3 blocks away and we got the alert I loaded for the first time in years.
Scout salute to ya SD.
A scout is: Trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent.
Yep. Every group’s got a few bad apples. Remember when the boys made little wooden cars and raced them?
Those wild and crazy Masters of the Universe, the Bilderbergers are up to their old tricks. These are the ultra rich neo-conservative banksters who admit they want to destroy the ”sovereignity” of the our Democracy and replace it with a corporate dictatorship. They also admit they are planning a world wide depression to help achieve this.
Our corporate journalists such as Broder and Cokie Roberts (and her so-called journalist husband) do not report on this. Many of the establishment publishers and reporters attend these meetings secretly and actually help carry out the New World Order agenda. Even, the Chief of Bankster Fraud, Tim Geithner may attend.
ha…..rofl…….
no, but i guess i could be!!!!!!!!!
omg….
Oh, yes. I had forgotten about the clothes. Easy to make, huh?
two questions:
1. do you need a little bit of it or the whole thing?
2. do you need it quick or as something for reference later?
let me just check one possibility…. and then will be back with more info momentarily.
My grands are doing that now. Pinewood derby.
“On my honor, I will try, to do my duty to God and my Country, etc…..
i loved brownies and girl scouts. quit in the 7th grade because i didn’t have time, played tennis, swam and dove. and church stuff…..but i sold my share of cookies!!! i loved the outings, too. i loved the camping. our family already camped.
pine derby cars.
thanks. don’t go to too much trouble, merely trying to find the reference to The Taguba Report.
When I was in the Scouts we sorta modified that.
On my honour I will do by best, to help the Girl Scouts get undressed.
Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
Namaste
was something to do on rainy days. was fun. he was my bud. and taught me how to sew with a needle and thread. made my sister barbie clothes, too. but they were a little harder. more involved than ‘cave man’ clothes. lol.
Nice. I learned a lot of cool stuff in scouts. As recently as two weeks ago, when we were camping, after we had everything packed, I was going around the site picking up every little piece of trash that had been there for who knows how long. Always leave the site cleaner than you found it. :)
yeah, i already knew most of the boy scouts liked girls…heh.
Trolls were teh cool, but this guy was my favorite.
Lorna Bracewell in on the Florida Folk Show on WMNF as we speak.
Oh, SD, you’re too much. Have a wonderful day. And, keep your clothes on. Or not.
Well, there apparently is a stormtrooper branch of the Scouts in the making.
firedogs, allow me to bounce off the walls a little here
POTUS’s two references to the ‘bad apples’ set my gut on fire. it was too Raymond Shaw-ish
I’m not simply po’d about his reversal, can’t shake that there’s something we aren’t expecting to be found there
that is scaaaaaarrrrrrrryyyyyy!!!!!!
rofl
i have never seen that before!!!
am gonna email that around today, see who else had one….
know what i think cbl?
i think this has to do with that thing i heard on the diane rehm show a few years ago….wehre weiderlander or whatever his name is, misspoke about how many ‘rendition’ sites there are….i think if they release the info, we will then know how many locations there were. i think that’s what it is…
i finally found the radio show last night, thanks to hugh giving me the name in april. haven’t had time to pursue it yet….
i think that’s why, they release the stuff, they hafta say where it was located. gonna come out…remember we had locations that were in countries where it is illegal and violated treaties with other countries?
yep…my antennae are up and twitchin’ and have been ever since i heard him say it.
here’s the show i think–he was only on twice…..the author of a torture book was also on…
http://wamu.org/programs/dr/06/06/28.php
thanks. and oh look at the topic for the next post upstairs.
note to bluejeansntshirt
along with the RF, had to have these
Oh, wow. And, while we are doing a flashback, did you watch The Monkees?
no trouble, am happy to try to help.
it’s a little complicated because the official transcripts are usually not released to the public until weeks or (more usually) months later.
if you have access to cq.com or federal news service that do fast transcripts or access to lexis which carries cq and fns or the $$$ to pay for same you are golden (a good university library may be the ticket). very rarely someone will post an entire hearing transcript on the web (wapo and nyt do this sometimes, might want to try some googling with text from options below)
for the rest of us, all i can suggest – and this may be sufficient for your needs this morning (fingers crossed) – is cspan since they carried the hearing yesterday. here are the links for part 1 and part 2:
http://www.c-spanarchives.org/…..d=286307-1
http://www.c-spanarchives.org/…..d=286307-2
option 1:
under the flash “play” button in the search text box enter a word to search on. that might work, but if no responses come up that doesn’t mean it wasn’t said. i’ve found some pretty big errors in their transcripts, including missing sentences, but i suppose that is to be expected for a fast (and probably unchecked) transcript.
option 2:
click on the flash “play” button and wait for the new webpage to load. there will be a button (bottom left corner) “Show Transcript” – check it with a click. now you should see a bit of the transcript on the right hand side of the webpage – it’s just the bit of transcript for the current video segment. go to different places in the video and you will see different bits of the transcript.
now here’s a tricksy bit….. go to view source on your web browser and you will be able to see (as well as cut and paste) the whole thing. sadly it is not in a very friendly form and is in all caps – and don’t forget it is not very accurate, so if you find the spot you are looking for i recommend you give it another listen to check (and probably correct) the transcript.
Interestingly enough, I said something similar to my spouse last night. What’s in those photos that they don’t want us to see/know? It isn’t the torture itself, as everyone agrees that these aren’t as bad as what we’ve already seen, so there’s something else there that they don’t want us to get ahold of.
Plastigoop.
Butterflies and flowers.

this site still sells it and the molds, wish i still had mine….My uncle still had one on his refrigerator until he moved to assisted living…would still stick.

I guess mom has it.
and there is still nuthin’ better for sibling leverage or ‘get along with me or i won’t share’ than an easy bake oven…..
p.s. to cbl2: please let me know if this is confusing or if there is anything i could try to do to help. will check back on this tread later, just in case….
Hey, the Republicans may make socialism popular in the USA again! Cool!
From the very beginning of his national political career, we have heard from Obama’s friends and associates that he is a pragmatic man (a word also often applied to Henry Kissinger, the godfather of RealPolitik), not a principled idealist. Every day we see more evidence of this. Obama has the oratorical ability to sound principled when he speaks, but where the rubber meets the road, he has yet to take a single principled stand since his election.
So, after 235 years, we are down to a choice between the lunatic fringe wingnuts and crooks on the Republican side, and unprincipled “pragmatists” on the Democratic side. Obama and most of the Dems either have no core principles that they won’t back down from, or are willing to forsake their principles in search of some compromise that will “work.” What we need is somebody who will stand up and motivate us to follow his principled path, not someone more concerned with “success” through compromise with the unprincipled opposition.
Where does President Obama really stand? What issue won’t he back down on? I have yet to see one.
Every time unrestrained and unregulated Capitalism is tried in this country, it ends in disaster. The only savior of Capitalism each time it stumbles is somebody like FDR, who is willing to regulate the Capitalist cowboys and temper Capitalism’s crueler excesses with a little social democracy (Socialism, if you prefer the word). Kind of ironic, when you think about it, that the only way we have been able to survive the repeated failures of Capitalism is by tempering it with Socialism for a while.
Socialism and Capitalism don’t have anything to do with democracy, as such. Both are able to exist in democratic countries and in authoritarian tyrannies. Although, ironically, pure Socialism is more in tune with the democratic ideal of the People as Sovereign, since it is an economic system in which, when implemented in a democratic wrapper, the People have control of the means of production and delivery of services. In a Capitalist system, that control is retained by a powerful corporate oligarchy that acts in its own interest, usurping the Sovereignty of the People (as we have seen from Enron to AIG). Capitalism is, at its very core, at best an uneasy companion to Democracy, and at its worst, is a fatal corrupter and destroyer of Democracy.
Also ironically, the basic definition of Fascism is a system where the private corporate oligarchy and the government work together, hand in iron glove, for the benefit of the corporate elite. It is hard to describe the last 8 years of the Bush administration without realizing that what the Republican ideal is is nothing more than a “soft” Fascism (where the people go along willingly and you don’t need strutting Black Shirts to enforce the system).
It is no accident that, as one of Mussolini’s top advisors remarked, “Fascism should more accurately be called ‘Corporatism’.” (often mistakenly credited to Mussolini himself).
When Socialism isn’t co-opted by tyrants who claim to be acting in the “name” of the People, but is implemented in a truly democratic system, where the government represents the agency by which the People exercise their Sovereignty, it is the best of both worlds. Just ask the Norwegians, who are flourishing now – even as the Capitalist countries are sinking into the tar pits.
I think it only fair that, if the GOP claims the right to “rebrand” the Democratic Party, we should rebrand the GOP as the “Republikkkan Hate-mongering and Child Molesting Party.”
Works for me…
