The Allman Brothers - Woman Across The River, live at the Beacon Theatre, 2003.
What’s on your mind tonight?
ZED for Suz!!!
hey nahant – how’s the bay area tonight?
Tres Amigos
hey dosido
Kewl tunes to distract me from the XXX turtle vid, I see
Hi Suz, hi pups…dropping in for a few. Can’t resist the call of the Allmans :-)
hey ll – how’s the east coast tonight?
Hey suz.
*innocent look*
hey sunny – how’s your day been?
yeah, love them.
hey pups, my keyboard is totally acting up. Enjoy and niters.
g’nite dosido
So good to hear some Allman Brothers.
Beautiful out here in the Midwest. I have flowers blooming, beautiful orange-red poppies and blue cornflowers.
Nice Tune Suz.
The Bay Area is nice… not too hot in the day and cools down in the evening(:>)) But we are supposed to get to the 90’s this week the tomatoes will just love it!!
hey margot – that sounds wonderful – the tree sized rhoddys are starting to bloom here.
HAH! you totally got me. ack!
c ya
Nice and cool here tonight Suz, my weatherbug says 45F. Great sleeping weather. Supposed to be 70’s tomorrow, and for once no rain for my days off! How’s the Oregon coast tonight?
thanks nahant – i’m so glad that i’m not having to deal with hot up here. being on the coast should keep me out of the 90’s (fingers and toes crossed)
showers off and on all day and supposed to be that way all week. but this weekend we are predicted to have clear skies and temps into the low 80’s.
evening suz
That sounds nice, and bearable :-) We’re bracing ourselves here for the 90’s which are surely to come.
And man, that Derek Trucks is one awesome guitar player…
hey newton
sounds like tomorrow is going to be a busy day with the torture hearing and the aig hearing.
I’ll tune in for sure.
When Whitehouse first sat on Judiciary, this is what we anticipated – he would swing a very big gavel right down on ChimpCo’s head. That begins tomorrow. I for one will be riveted to C-Span 3..
Setting aside his vote on the PAA (which is infuriating even now), he is the right guy for this job.
i will when i get up (but fear the hearings will be over by the time i do). i be playing catch up reading the posts.
i only get basic cspan – i have to read the liveblog to know what happens.
The liveblogs are fantastic, really fleshing out what we’re seeing and hearing.
nahant, token went to the doggie beauty shop today. he doesn’t smell like a dog – even though he did roll in the driveway as soon as we got home.
I trust there will be visual highlights, and the replay is usually on C-Span.
i can’t wait for the live blogs of the bush co criminal trials Including cheney) i hope are in our future.
lol Suz, that’s like a kid after getting a haircut — gotta go and mess it all up afterwards ;-)
newton, with my luck, they will be on cspan at the same time as the season finale of lost tomorrow nite.
Good day here. Reading the Paradine Case – 1930s brit mystery, later made into a Hitchcock movie.
I’ve not seen the film, but the book is engaging. Also, stunningly sexist.
From your keyboard to the goddess’ ears…
Hey, Suz, I got my name back…..thanks for the directions. Santa Barbara burning is almost under total control. Not as many homes burned as in last fall’s Tea Fire. My girl, her guy, and the baby boys are all well and safe. And — after two years of fidgeting, I think I am finally coming to love being retired. It was a hard passage for me, but I’m enjoying being granny for now. (Haven’t given up the idea of being med/cannibis grey-haired granny for seniors and oncology patients, if permits can be gotten.)
triple-irish strikes again
someone will record it and send it too ya
Oh Margot. Poppies are just the best!
Oh, and btw — just why is Darth Cheney all over the tee vee lately anyway? I know I’m out of the loop and all, what with the crazy work schedule and everything…but, like, he totally isn’t the Veep anymore.
tomorrow i had planned on getting my library card when i did some errands and grocery shopping. i’m gonna put that off until thursday so i can read the live blog. i think i noticed a used bookstore in town last week called rainy day books. i want to check them out soon.
Just like a Good Dog!!! Tucker always rubs himself on the couch to try & make the smell go away! Tucker goes every three weeks to keep his hair from knotting..
hey dearie – glad to help ya get your real name back and get rid of the dwr1.
i love being retired – and it is nice having my gig here at the lake to keep me on my toes.
token goes every 6 weeks or so – mainly to trimm his nails which grow so darn fast. i’m gonna stretch that out to 8 weeks and see how he does. his hair is short and his beard is closely trimmed. really helps with helping prevent him collecting twigs, burrs, and other stuff in his hair.
Suz!
imho, darth is being pre-emptive. he knows what is gonna come out next and he trying to get us all talking about him instead of what is gonna happen in the hearing tomorrow.
hey kirk – what’s up doc?
*waving to Kirk*
eek, time for bed. G’night all, and thank you Suz :-)
hahahahaha a new video from the full ginsburg
g’nite ll
*waves to LL* = sleep well!
life is good – glad to read that you and token and bailey are well and enjoying May.
AND THE KILLIN’ GOEZ ON AND ON AND…
Citizen Suzanne and the Firepup Freedom Fighters:
Ah Sister Suzanne, you never miss…fuckin’ Allman Brothers, doesn’t get better’n that…you go woman!!
KEEP THE FAITH AND PASS THE AMMUNITION, AND DON’T LET YOUR CHILDREN DATE FASCISTS!!
hey citizen shorttimer – how many shifts?
I brought that up to some winger people I know. “Gore did it tooo.” I swear to god, Christ could come back, denounce waterboarding and they’d say “Pontius Pilate did it tooo.”
Citizen Suzanne:
Eight and a wake-up…too short ta take a nap.
margot, i find saying ‘two wrongs don’t make a right’ usually gets them sputterin.
saw-weet dood. i gotta tell ya, my first morning without having an alarm clock was one of the best mornings. such freedom :) felt dayam good.
He’s stunningly talented. Still have high hopes for him (with reservations).
You nailed it. Darth (Wheezy — which, I’m a good girl, so his wheezing actually makes me worry for him) is all about diverting attention. Saying things enough times that he thinks he’ll heap the dung so high that no one will notice truth being buried. We’ve all got to stay strong….keep pounding on our weak Congresscritters.
and the forking tradmed – i swear, they act as if gold was spewing from his mouth instead of turds.
That PAA decision is what I would ask him about if he were campaigning in my state, and I would like for it to sting. He partnered up with Specter on an alternative to PAA and it failed; from then on he was in the bag.
But I recently re-watched some of his drillings of Gonzales and Mukasey and Schlozman, and I remembered why I like him so much. If given the chance, I think he would drive a truck over the whole lot of them.
he sure sounded pissed off on ko tonight – do ya know what time do they start in the morning?
10am Eastern. There will probably be a couple of web streams on top of C-Span 3.
wingers are misguided folk…they meed to be saved..liberated from their bondage…and freed from the Karmic circle that has them all twisted and tangled.
How can that happen? What tools do we have to enlighten the despots?
Suzzanne and all greetibgs and salutationd from the Red Planet where i am visiting tonight to confer with the War Gods…Now that we will soon have Gen McChystal to run a Black Ops war in Afghanistan. Here we are sucked into the vortex of violence with the Muslims that brought USSR down.
My consultation appopintment with the War Gods has been refused so I have no new information…but it looks like another version of the same old whatever it takes.
yikes – that is 7am – prime sleeping time here at the peaceful retreat by the bay.
hey bb – how was your row today?
Hey bb, i just read that the Tillman family is asking for McChrystal’s record to be reviewed.
That Trucks boy sure can play, can’t he? Hi Suz
hey emerson – he sure works that slide (and makes it seem effortless)
I don’t know how you replace Duane, but he’s dam near done it.
So, my offering was pleasing enough last night?
LMAO.
Nice choice my dear!
G’thud.
Yer the shit lady, great taste in toonz and tunze both.
Citizen newtonusr:
Whitehouse is indeed a gifted and extremely talented PATRICIAN…his talent, gifts and power will always be directed at takin’ down those who pretend to a class they are not born to or against those of his class (like Baby Bush) who fuck it up for the rest of ‘em. If you give ‘im a task, keep ‘im on a short leash and aim him at some percieved abuser of the privilidged, then he’ll be fine but don’t expect ‘im ta go all populist, that would be a sin against his class.
Very nice cover story in the latest Guitar World commemorating the 40th anniversary of the ABB.
hayes aint too shabby either – i love this cut from his other band
g’thud and thanks for the inspiration dood
hey EV – is it available online?
No chance of C-SPAN 3, but I’ll mosey out to wi-fi. Should be a great show. (yeah, that Specter piece nags)
Whitehouse wants another crack at all the Chimpsters who filibustered the USA hearings, but this time for gross violations of DOJ rules and practices, statute, and the Constitution. He isn’t hiding it – he wants them tried.

Personally I see the CIA as the big dog off of the porch terrorizing the globe…
The war on terror should begin with Panetta, a Special Prosecutor to see if crime were committed and what, where and by whom. State Secrets has covered 60 years of USA crimes…see Naomi Klein.
My bet is the black site that the military took the suspects to for torture were run in partnership with the CIA. Time to get FIOA. warrants for the SP for the calendars of all the people involved///who they met with…where and when. That is a starting place. The matrix of snatches matched to ewails, faxes and calendars put people in places at the same time. CAP has flight clearances. All flights need a flight plan or you are an unidebtified flight over wherever.
With the data mine from the telecoms that NSA has searches can be made as well.
Hetting 1.5 billion people pissed at us is not in the interests of national security. Congress needs to ask the department heads for full reports specifying like a Request for Proposal (RFP)all details required. If they leave out or misrep theyt are foi de gras.
isn’t there another report about torture that is due out soon?
Whew-hot stuff! What guitar is he playing?
Wondering why Gates gratuitously humiliated McKleman. Not his style.
per this interview in modern guitar magazine, he plays a lot of gibsons and with g’mule he plays firebirds and les pauls
hey, pups.
My puppy is having trouble breathing tonight. She’s still begging for any food that is within a fifty mile radius, so I don’t think she’s ready to go – but… it’s so hard to hear her wheeze and huff and puff.
Please send warm, relaxing and calming energy Bravo’s way tonight.
Do you think Blackwater or KAKI were contracted to “help” the CIA?
Citizen newtonusr:
Yes, I know, Whitehouse was a US Attorney and like all of his class he takes ownership of those priviledges he has experienced…he will go like a hound from hell after the bastards but like I said, keep ‘im on task with a visable target and a short leash…don’t get ‘im tangled up in policy.
(((bravo))) sending warm, healing positive thoughts your way
(((jacqrat)))
If only Senators had to pick – make law or kick ass…
i’m out pups
here’s a picture of bravo
g’nite newton
Not today tommorrow. Did the web today. Lurked FDL. Glenn is hot on Barack…our Pres for covering up the torture of Bushco. State secrets defense his DOJ is using to thwart exposure of past crimes war crines have no time limit.
Riding a BMX but rear axle is dust now so spent time with that. It is a fun little toy…I crashed today no biggie.
Big times in the little town tommorow night…Gerry Spence the famous Wyoming trial lawyer will talk to the local trial lawyers association. We are lookimg for one of those pro bono counsels fro a very big class action lawsuit with treble damages in a trial by jury.
wow – ya think he may take the case? be sure to keep us posted about it bb. be careful on those little bikes – the fall can hurt just as bad as off of a big bike.
(((Bravo}}}
I think all assets were on the table and carte blanche was the rules of engagement…need a real purge of the bad guys that led the charge. All those countries that hosted the black sights and assisted in the interrogation/torture are guilty of war crimes…probaly for profit as the Bushco team has a for profit philosopy…still doing it behind the curtain.
Sending that energy and hugs your way, jacqrat.
He may convince some lacals to assist…going to ask him anyway sent him a request at his website…a quite a few of us will attend. Thank you for asking.
Yes Jacqrat second that emotion…maybe you need an air cleaner…your little friend might have allergies…maybe some Allman Brothers would help. Blackjack enjoyed the tunes a lot.
Hi Suzanne,
I doubt the GW ABB interview (with Gregg, Dickey, Warren, Derek, and lots of others who’ve been in the band) is available online – it just came out. I don’t even know if it’s on the newsstands yet.
Why do you think there haven’t been suits brought against the host countries by by European and middle East countries, especially on behalf of their citizens? And if that were to happen, what are the chances for success? I guess it’s natural to think first of Spain.
thanks ev – i’ll have to keep an eye out to see if any copies show up on the magazine stands.
Calling it a night. Don’t want to miss Whitehouse.
Thanks for the pic. Bravo’s a beauty.
Strong, potent, healing energy sent to jacqrat and Bravo. Should be reaching you right about…now.
g’nite sunny
Firepup Freedom Fighters:
Anyone know if the Whitehouse fireworks are gunna be televised or liveblogged?
i heard it is gonna be on cspan3 (if your cable carries it). otherwise, it should be simulcast online.
also, marcy is live blogging it at ew.
someone said CSPAN-3 at 7 am (eastern)
thanks Suz- what a woodshed of axes Warren has to choose from. I’ve never seen that purple beauty though.
Italy busted some of our folks for snatching theirs. Spains debated it with their AG. Some money might be shifting off of books or some concessions or deals. Cooling Isreal was one of them. All the diplomatic corps dealing.
Libya was the source of the Lockerbie Scotland Pan Am 103 flight lot of bitterness alll around (War) How Libya skates is a mystery. I know they bombed Kadaffi’s house. It way to complex for me to understand. But great questions that need great answers.
7am pacific – 10 am eastern (is what i remember newton saying)
That’s a Gibson Firebird, reverse (treble horn is larger than the bass horn, headstock has tuners on the bottom), from the look of the finish I’d guess it’s from the Gibson custom shop.
Charlie Rose finally stepped up to the plate last night. Started off with Elizabeth Warren and then having Naomi Klein and Bill Grieder on together. Nice to have an entire show of sanity.
thanks ev. the interview i linked to said he liked his reverse firebird but didn’t have a pic of it.
Cspan has a new upbeat face. More inviting than the Bushco format.
the times, they are a’changing
Thanks EV! I figured that had to be custom built.
That sounds outstanding..noe that the “First Hundred Days” are Done the wheels of power are more firmly in Obama’s command seems like a lot more air time is goimg progressive…still a small footprint. I am going to see if he has reruns at his site. Thanks for all the interesting discussion and music…40 years together pretty awesome.
I like the 335 better in the ABB vid.
yeah, I think you can view them at his site. Rose has been hesitant to get into the fray. Maybe Ms. Huffington is in his ear. You’re right-it’s a good left turn.
Citizen ThatGuy:
Your right on Brother Guy, my son’s got a Firebird…
hey that guy
Me, I’m a Tele guy. Gotta have that twang and scream that only a Tele can do, though I use a Strat for slide.
Hey Suze. I didn’t cry today. First time. I sorta feel guilty.
no reason to feel guilty – brat wouldn’t want ya crying all the time. losing a pet is hard and we all grieve on our own timetables. just because ya didnt cry doesn’t mean ya didn’t miss him. he knows that.
you’re right, Suz-sorry. I must have converted to pacific time/
i automatically convert to pacific – i’ve been on the west coast since i was a kid – ‘63 iirc. lard help me if i move to a different time zone.
I don’t get the 3, so I’ll be back here for EW’s play-by-play.
Citizen ThatGuy:
I had an Amotti viola and a Bronski too before I ran outta the insane house and left it all behind…played classical music but taught myself the piano so’s a couple a my marchin band friends and I could play some old fashioned rock and roll when they came down once a week ta play with the strings.
Son’s wife got ‘im the Firebird for his birthday 5 years ago… he’s been singin’ blues and writin’ with a couple a fellow teachers for the last several years and has taught himself enough that they let ‘im play rhythmn now (in the basement studio)…still don’t let ‘im go off on it with a live audience.
you can watch it online at the cspan link bb provided – while reading along with marcy’s live blog.
Replying to Suzanne @ 112
and emerson @ 115
Well, he’s got a bunch, some reverse, some not, some from the 60’s, some more recent from the custom shop.
He’s said he (like anyone sensible) prefers to take the more recent custom shop reissues out on the road, leaving the vintage stuff at home. Since that video’s from Rockpalast over in Deutschland, I think he’d be bonkers to haul the stuff that can’t be replaced over to Europe. After the finish (I don’t think purple metalflake was a standard Gibson finish in 1964, but they and Fender did do some funky custom stuff :-) ), the trapezoidal inlays would have been pretty unusual for that pickup and tailpiece combo, I think, so again that argues for a custom shop piece.
These don’t provide any confirmation of the heritage of the guitar in question, but you can read other interviews with Warren (with a picture of him playing what looks like a mid-60’s non-reverse Firebird, note the different pickguard, pickups, headstock and neck inlays) here and here.
thanks for the haynes interviews. off to read them and then head to bed.
g’nite pups and thanks for letting me spend some time with ya tonight.
you’re the best, Suz. Thank you.
I’m going to go get my cherry 1967 335 12-string out of storage next month. :-)
And if you’re into great Tele (I’m sure you’ve heard all the Roy Buchanan and Danny Gatton (R.I.P. to them both), and even Mike Stern), check out Ernie Lancaster. He was the guitar player on all of Root Boy Slim’s stuff (listen at the iTunes store), and damnation if Ernie didn’t know how to spank the plank!
God, I haven’t thought about John Mayall’s Blues Breakers in years! EV-there was an English guitarist named Peter Haycock who played lead for Climax Blues Band up until about 20 years ago. Know what ever became of him?
Just check his web site! ;-)

(sorry I didn’t see your response, I must have missed it by just a few seconds)
