When we bought this land, there was woods, and then nearly bare field in a 200′ X whatever rectangle between the woods and the road.

Early on, we brought in a lot of 9″ tall conifers babes of various sorts that are now heeeuge, 35 years later. We dragged a couple of sugar maple trees out of the woods and set them in the “yard”. They looked like lollypops, heh. Stunningly beautiful big trees now, plus lots of volunteers from seed, shagbark and pig-nut hickories, walnut, hazelnut, serviceberry, red-osier dogwood, staghorn sumac, elderberry, black raspberry, wild strawberry, crabapples, blueberry, paper birch, swamp white oak, redbud, native beech, tulip, & ash, etc. etc. etc.

Yes, we have lawn area and a smaller veg. garden now, but we don’t have to mow much, and we see fascinating butterflies, moths and birds joining us whenever we’re outside, which is most of the time. The house is nice too, but…

This year the local ranger dashed over to confirm our sighting of a Golden-winged Warbler, which spent a whole day in the yard singing and nibbling birch catkins.

I wouldn’t sell this place to mr. c even if he offered gazillions of $$$. he’s not welcome in my home, nor those of my friends.

Yes they are quite difficult to the people who keep up their property but to the landlords who don’t, they get a pass. It’s weird but so is this town.

udderly delightful mind pic! heh. except the sight of a gyrating dubya-puppet keeps intruderating. true healing will take just a tad longer, i guess….

i’ll keep working on that. it’s good to fix the bad, but not to dwell in constant helpless fury. i’ll keep trying… what a dreadful little creature… have a peaceful mothers day, bar, in spite of all…

Yes they send out runners, that’s why I never thought about dividing them, but as you say they are easily controlled.

After the Boston Tea Party they had no tea left and they used the leaves from bee balm as a subsitute. It’s known as Oswego Tea.

Hadn’t thought about that. I wonder if it is going to be mainly women leaving their husbands for other women, or vice versa. Make an interesting PH.D. thesis in sociology.

I suppose the good news nobody watches those sunday morning shows anymore except the villagers. That’s why they keep bring back Cokie and the Thugs. It was a great act in its time, but getting stale.
