Hi Suz how ya doing??
doing fair to middling nahant – you still walking on air?
Daffy!
Hi Suz, Newt and Nahant
i was JUST asking suz about you at the end of the last thread, nahant. i shudda known. you always show up right after i ask about you. CONGRATULATIONS DUDE! i’m really happy for you.
hey newton
hey bb – how’s the bay tonight? still rowing?
gw, what’s new with you?
Loading up Daffy!
hey i made it to late late!
97 degrees here today. i took to my fainting couch for the afternoon. a.m. i was out waving signs at the polls for the city council races. all the rest of the races came out good. mayoral race will go to a runoff.
i’m still babying my feet that i ran over not once but twice (very slow learner) with the power washing tool my neighbor lent me for the driveway and walkway to the driveway. that water under pressure causes serious damage to toes. can you tell it was my first time using a power washer.
what about you? i am particularly missing oregon today.
Thanks GW..
Suz I am still wondering wha happened.. almost two years of this and then.. nada… go figure, as my VA Surgeon said ”we (docs) are not always that cleaver in figuring all this out” That was 3 months ago..??
hey sunny
hey ndfg
yeouch and double yeouch
oregon coast was a lovely blue today and we got up to 72.
however, clouds came in towards sunset and we are supposed to have rain and overcast skies all week.
nahant, what about the underlying genetic thang? it is amazing that the technology got so good that they could image it and see what it was without opening you up.
maybe i should think about the pacific nw sometime this summer. i’ve got cousins not too far from salem over near silver falls state park. and a good friend in seattle. and old friends in eugene. it’s like i’m feeling homesick.
on edit: oh yes, and good friends in portland.
It has Been breezy 40 mph gust the last month… got in 3 miles tonught and a jog this morning.
Deduce must have brought back some memories in your career? S)
i’m loving it up here gw. i learned a long time ago that i don’t melt when wet. i love watching all the birds and lose time staring out the windows.
if ya come up, let me know and we can try to hook up for a cup.
breezy here too – had a storm blow in earlier in the week with gusts in the 40’s. was glad when the winds finally died down.
Hi, Suz. Better times in the Santa Barbara zone. My girl didn’t have to evacuate — though I would have loved to have had them down here in the ‘Nard. New-momma ran a half marathon up in the Santa Ynez Valley this a.m. and said it was divine…..blue sky and no smoke. Major evacuation orders are over….spirit willing….and I’ll do Mom’s Day with the family tomorrow. Joy.
woohoo – good news indeed dwr1
sure ’nuff. i’d be very happy to get to meet you in person. and my favorite place on the coast is cascade head. it is so pretty there – up by lincoln city.
i’m up west of tillamook between cape meares and cape lookout – on the 3 capes scenic byway
sleepy girl here. i’m off to the land of dreams.
Hey, Suz, you are in the loop. I lost my ‘moniker’ when my computer fried….I really am not into the ‘dwr1′ thingy, but I don’t know how to get my name back. I’m ‘dearie’ in my heart and fingers. Do you know how to re-new a name that got fried?
No candy-coated cop, there.
;>)
The genetic thing seems to come into play if the was cirrhosis… So now I just wait and see..
send an email to fdlmoderator at gmail dot com and ask if it is possible
hey db
hello every one
katy!!!
so nice to have ya in the threads instead of lurking
Hope you are feeling much, much better katymine …. nice to ‘hear’ you here.
I’m sure Nahant if they looked into your noggin they could find all sorts of strange shit, hockey pucks, solar flares and hot chili…those dumb VA docs were lookin in the wrong place. S)
I love a spunky guy! You go bb. Nahant, don’t miss a moment of the laugh….revel in it!
hello katymine
so damned glad to have you in-thread
pups, some time around 11pm (pacific) the tech crew is gonna be taking the lake and all sister blogs down for
hamsterserver update. they promise to be fast and said we will be down no longer than 30 minutes.consider this a heads up – there should be a maintenance message displayed when we go down
geez, didn’t mean to scare ya
I inhaled and waited…
Was that not the right thing to do?
We’ll wait…as the Irish film said .
that wasn’t so bad now was it
Knock knock…
hey newton – nice to be back :)

hey sunny – love the last line in the cartoon
Fab cartoon. Porky as Watson!!!
usually daffy and porky are competing with each other – this one they are partners – and i loved the witty dialogue. this a great parody.
Elementary suzanne.
*big ole laugh*
FDL is reloading comments without pausing.
Tell me I’m not dreaming!!
ya mean it is faster on refresh or do you mean that it is automatically loading new comments? it has always loaded new comments when one types a comment and submits it. is it doing that when you are doing nothing?
Hugs GW, that sounds painful.
Spoke too soon :-( Sorry.
May have related to my editing/deleting a comment.
hey margot
it is a lot faster at reloading the page
Hi Suz, hi everyone. Yes it is faster, isn’t it! Thanks, tech crew.
Reload rate looks sweet!
Greetings earthlings!
Yes it does seem to be reloading faster – significantly.
how’s ohio tonight margot? i had 2 great days of sunshine and temps high 60’s and low 70’s.
but rain and overcast skies are my forecast for the next week.
testing
greetings UC – how ya been?
maybe the hamsters got a turbo charged wheel? i don’t know what they did but i sure do like it. speed is a good thing (but only online)
Suz, it doesn’t seem to be reloading blip tv and a bunch of other programs
every time I post. If this is real, it’s a godsend for dial-up.
hip hip hooray for the tech crew
Good Suz – Working! And managed to save a couple jobs in my region of the company I work for.
They asked for 24 head cuts out of 410; I got 22 back and only lost 2.
STIMULUS!
The 2 lost? Working on placing them. They have me and others behind them, and we want them working. Company didn’t bat an eye about serving them with benefits, so what was very troubled is turning into a good news story.
Wish this was the story everywhere.
woohoo uc – that is great to hear.
Here’s what I think is happening. If I post, it loads all the new comments
-without reloading programs- like greased lightening. And I can post immediately
However, if I just refresh (F-5) it does reload those programs and I can’t comment until that reload/refresh is complete. What I don’t see yet is whether that reload/refresh is faster. Not enough new post action.
Does that make sense?
yes it does sunny. there is a difference you see between posting comment and a hard refresh of the page.
Here in Denver, the Grocery Union is re-negotiating.
Went to my local Safeway today; they’ve extended terms for a bit as the contract expired last night.
Yakking with me buddies, as I’ve shopped there for for a mere 12 years and know them all, I made the point to tell the mgmt folks: Look, I’ll go and shop at Sunflower, and you can piss off if the strike ensues.
I know and am friends with all these people which is WHY I push the carts back to your storefront, put the juice back where it belongs and all that happy horseshit, because IT’S MY STORE TOO!
Good lord, I’ve had a dozen of the employees from that store at my house over the years, 3 in particular because we’re great friends, and they PROVIDE MY FOOD! I’ll provide support and won’t cross the line, should it come to pass.
SUPPORT YOUR GROCERY WORKER!
as a retired union member, i feel the same way about public support being so necessary. what is the managment’s reaction?
Did anyone catch Wanda Sykes at the WH correspondents dinner?
Cut Limbaugh, Hannity, Dick Cheney and Palin a new asshole!
she sure did that guy – lisa has the utubes up over at lafiga
Suzanne – The local store management is sympathetic to me and the workers, but corpo-wimpy. What else would you expect them to be? They’re in-between the rock and the hard place.
Safeway Corp should be ashamed.
It’s emotional. I told the woman that’s the asst. GM that I would pay more in produce and dairy and meat to the tune of 20%, which would push my groc bill up another $15 a week for parity for my friends.
The excuse? You guessed it; health care.
I’ve seen them all. I loved it. “I hope his kidneys fail.”
Wanda’s my kinda gal. ;-D
once the corporate types realize that universal health care solves a lot of their labor costs, then we will finally get universal health care.
Suze – I disagree…Corpo types want NO health care for people. That’s what they want.
obama got off some zingers too – all tinged with snark. it was funny. not a classic like the colbert year but still good.
Suze, did you hear about Stephen Bruton?
Amen sister.
Out! Good night to the rest of you!
if we have universal health care, then the corporations will not be paying health insurance company costs. they get no health care costs (unless they choose to offer a private supplemental insurance to their employees). we get universal health care.
a win win
no what?
g’nite uc
Lost his battle with cancer, died in LA at T-Bone Burnett’s house.
FUCK – i featured a video of his just a little while back. dammit, i loved his stuff
april 28th – nothing but the truth
He’s been fighting it for more than two years. I saw him with Malford Milligan last year at the SC Blues fest. Didn’t look good. When he missed the Cruise for the second year in a row, I feared the worst. Didn’t say anything to anyone on the but but my Irish drummer friend (lives in Dublin, IE) and he agreed Bruton was probably a goner.
My friend James was one of Bruton’s best friends and he’s devastated. James played the fiddle on the record last year. Just a month ago, James was comforting me when Brat headed west. Now it’s my turn.
Bruton was one of the real ones.
That footage is from the Cruise.
i’ve had my eye out for a utube of his ‘big top hat’ – love that song. dammit, i loved his music.
Teresa James does a great version of “Big Top Hat.” She and Bruton were good friends.
Keep in mind, he left us his music and it’s up to us to keep it alive. BTW, I sent a message to Brat at the Rainbow Bridge telling him to hang out with Stephen til Janet or I get there.
let me know if ya find one of him doing it thatguy. i first heard that song on kpig on unka sherman’s sat nite dirty boogie back when i was up on the mt.
I’ll send you the link if I find it.
James is a hurtin for certain.
thanks that guy – it always hurts, even when it is expected
I’m off to give BB hhis pill and go to bed. I am old. G’night all.
g’nite thatguy
Seems replies are also loading faster on a hard refresh.
Can’t tell if the stuff reloading after the replies is loading faster, but even if it isn’t, it’s a big improvement because the speed impaired can start reading new replies sooner, even if they can’t post till everything else loads. And the net effect is the hard refresh is faster.
But it’s 4am and I could be spouting gibberish. Thanks for staying up so late. g’nite.
g’nite sunny
guess it is time for me to mosey off to bed myself.
g’nite pups and thank you for letting me spend some time with you tonight.
So, what’s the deal over at OxDown with the post on Elizabeth Warren and the TALF? The whole thing, post comments and all, has been jerked off the page, but its still listed among the top ten.
The article that the diary is apparently about may be Oversight panel finds trouble in consumer lending, By Silla Brush, posted at TheHill.com. Apparently the Term Asset-Backed Securities Loan Facility (TALF) ain’t doing to well.
I want to hear just about anything Warren and her committee have to say.
Whassup?
Bob in HI
The Congressional Oversight Panel, with the interesting acronym COP, has a report on its home page, Reviving Lending to Small Businesses and
Families and the Impact of the TALF, which is hot off the presses (May 7).

Good morning, pups. It’s MoDo, Kristof and Rich in the Times today. MoDo is getting “cute” again. In “Put Aside Logic” she gurgles that just as Spock swoops in to rescue the world from red matter in J. J. Abrams’s dazzling new “Star Trek,” imagine Barack Spock rescuing read matter for the world. In order to add gravitas to what she has to say her
columnpiece of crap comes complete with a picture of Barack Obama all done up with Spock ears and a Spock haircut… Mr. Kristof writes about “The Killer No One Suspects,” and says that pneumonia is an illness that is easy to treat, yet more than two million children die each year. Mr. Rich covers the same beat as MoDo, but manages to do it without being an asshole or using “clever” visual aids. In “The American Press on Suicide Watch” he says the real question is for the public, not journalists: Does it want to pony up for news, whatever the media that prevail? Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got waffles this morning. There’s maple syrup, but I’m having mine with some of the most delicious strawberries I’ve tasted in a long time. And some whipped cream because it’s Sunday and because I can. Have a great day.
