Hi mary.
Eureka !
How’re you doing, Bro ?
ES!
What’s on my mind? Been reading the previous thread: torture.
Wish I could get it off my mind, but not until the guilty are punished.
Petro, neuro too.
Doing alright here in the hillbilly jungle.
Good evening, ES! Can we continue to talk about sex?
Hi mary mcc!
ES, I don’t know which song I like better. Hard to choose. Thanks!
Margot !
Doesn’t Canada have a curfew, or something?
;>)
Absolutely! demi, absolutely.
Was neuro talking about sex and torture? I would have never pegged him as a masochist. /s
I had a up and down and around kinda week. I have investigated upgrading my skills. Found out that the government will pay for $2000 of the tuition to get certified in desktop publishing/javascript/html stuff. Now I have to find the money to live on while I do this. Obama made a speech tonight about more training programs coming out. I am going to look into that.
The credit card people keep calling. Got an unusual call today. I told the lady we have nothing to pay with, etc. She gave me the phone numbers for help with utilities, housing etc. I don’t know if this is the softer, kinder collection agent or just a nice person. She said that recently some of the people she tried to collect money from haven’t eaten in two or three days. That stopped my clock.
Aloha, ES and Ya’ll!
Try to get to sleep before the rooster crows?
Dood…! Long time…! 8-)
Evening CT. You on a mountaintop tonight?
Yep … just as soon as we run out of Beer ! *g*
How are ya, db ?
((( CT )))
How ya doin’, buddy ?
Very tough times to be sure. Lifting you and Ron up, up, up.
More training sounds like fun, mary. I just discovered a writer I’ve admired since I was a kid is a professor at Princeton. Now I want to move there for a semester and audit his course.
Sho nuff, ES!
Uh-oh… DB and Petro…? An invasion of Canucks, eh? ;-)
Thanks Demi. We always make it through this stuff. We get tons of help from our families. And I get tons of support right here.
Beer? Behold the Eastern heathen, my American friends.
;>)
Fine, P. – You?
Hide the liquor. /s
I wanna come.
Don’t look at me … I’m not the one with the BC Bud personality … *g*
Any better and I couldn’t stand myself ! *g*
I had applied for a job at a bookstore about 2 months ago. Had not just one, but Two interviews, then nothing. The manager called me yesterday, out of the blue. Asked me if I’m still talking to her. Instead of my usual smart mouth — it seems we are doing that right now — I said, well, sure. Then, she asked me if I’m still interested in the job. I said Of Course. She said she’d get back to me. She’s a nut job and I just know if she hires me that she’ll drive me nuts, but what can I do? I’m practicing my lines. Yes m’am. Absolutely, you are right. And, the ever popular How high?
Keep pressing with that Manuscript … it’s going to go through !
Wanna dance?
Heh, I’ll take their rye and beer over American bourbon and/or beer anyday…! ;-)
We all do, dear. Oh, you meant accompany ES to Princeton. Sorry. I misunderstood. :)
Mmm-hmm… Speaking of which… 8-P
I’ll have you know I left that viper’s nest of socialist free-marketry, you unabashed Ti-cats fan, you.
;>)
ROFLMAO
Hey darkblack, Are you familiar with sexmob? I like this fellow on the slide-trumpet.
Did some editing today. But, I’m also starting a new project. All by myself. I’m excited and a little scared.
My greatest talent is perseverance !
*good grief, I’ve left myself wide open and db is around*
Go with Gusto ! The only thing keeping you down is gravity.
Say, that’s catchy…Good breath control there.
Excellent. His name is John McPhee. Only drove through Princeton once.. it’s not the kind of place for squatters. /s We need a plan.
Thank you, kind sir. The subject is bigotry. But, I want to frame it as a story of redemption. Ultimately, but lots of stuff along the road. Of course.
Never mind that, P. – Watch this, I’m going to scare CTuttle.
Boo!
;>)
Sounds great ! Remember how we tell our kids that they should never give up ?
We have to show them by example, that we never give up our dreams.
JHFC
Heh, I might… and I mean might take a gander later on tonite…! 8-P
Well, I’m on the first shift tonite… I’ll be back in an hour if ya’ll are still around…! ;-)
I got 3 hours of sleep last night, so I’m out.
G’nite CT, G’nite all … have a super weekend !
Nevuh!
And, I’m practicing my flute again. Working on some classical pieces.
CT, gets free air conditioning in Hawaii..
Sleep longer tonight, you!
Nite Petrocelli
‘night, folks.
Sexmob! i luurrrvvvs that group.
*waves at the Pups*
Nite db.
Hi ndfg, I just discovered them. Lot’s of good recordings on YouTube. I’m a fan now.
Nice aesthetic they’ve got going on here.
yes indeedy!
I first heard about them a couple of years ago, on String Theory, a great show on our local jazz station, jazz88fm.
Another gem i found. Arthur Verocai’s first U.S. performance. (scroll down for the youtubes)
Ok explain this to me Nancy knew about torture, just how does that make it not a war crime?
Also I want Nancy gone in part because of this so how does announcing Nancy Knew make it better?
Nice…reminded me of a Claus Ogerman arrangement.
The only way anything has a remote possibility of working out… is a special prosecutor, imo.
Don’t let the House or Senate form a friggin’ commission!
He’s old school.. i have a couple of his albums. Just gets better over the years.
more on John McPhee
He certainly is old school – classic techniques mixed with modern flavor, and of course a good arranger never works alone…Unless he’s the lone arranger.
;>)
Just water muddying imo.
He sure pens interesting story’s. Most of the time, short story’s. Think I’ve read every one of his books .
It’s OK with me if Nancy Pelosi was briefed on torture. We should still prosecute the lot of them. Her too, if she deserves it. But her possible knowledge is essentially irrelevant to the issue of whether they should be prosecuted. They should be. Period.
(in response to ThingsComeUndone @ 57)
SunnyNoblity is that the best they got? They might as well go home and save us a trial.
I’m sure I have read stuff of his in The New Yorker. Can’t remember what, though.
My idea of the ideal life would include that I would have time to read The New Yorker every week, cover to cover. I subscribe, but rarely get through it all.
You do know that if torture was not such a big story the number of jobs bush lost us vs the number when he came in adjusted as a percentage of population growth would be an issue.
That and the low bar Bush set for Obama the tea baggers as a movement are in trouble if Obama beats Bush’s job creation numbers.
I think it is generally understood that he messed up the country pretty badly on a number of fronts. Hence the election results in 2006 and 2008.
Acorn needs some PR work the number of people in tent cities in Vegas and Florida suggests that we might lose votes if enough people go homeless.
That might be the GOP’s secret master plan.
I wouldn’t put it past the Repukes…!
Dayam that full moon is gorgeous from up here…!
We can never remind the voters of this too much.
Here’s some live webcam shots if you’re interested…! ;-)
I’m working for Gemini(the first shot) tonite…
The more people you displace in a mortgage/jobs crisis-the more people who cannot vote.
The more people you put in jail and make felons-the more people who cannot vote.
The more people you send off to war and cage their votes-the more people who cannot vote.
The more machines you can get to disappear votes-the more people who cannot vote.
The only way the GOP can win is to cheat. fuckery.
I want Obama to make choices for Basic cable. As a Hispanic I don’t want to get get basic cable to watch KO and Rachel but still have to pay money to Lou Dobbs on CNN or Glen Beck and Co at Fox.
Imagine if White Folks had to pay to see the Nation of Islam anti white folks show on basic cable.
Should be no secret by now.
neuro & things – agree with both of you… also es. It’s irrelevant diversion, distraction and poo-flinging.
Just sound bytes for the idiot base and the idiot media..
I am thinking about it and laughing.
Pelosi has thrown all the no torture dems under the political bus for Bushco…now Barack is their cover.
Here is what is at stake The USA as good ol USA or we are the fascist pigs like Mussolini, Hitler and the lot USA.
Freedom or Big Brother ala Orwell we are there as Krugman wrote today be very very afraid…the oligarchy rules the banks get a phony stress test and another round of $70 billion and coming back for more, more, more. They took over the Republican party as a front but they want to own us.
You are right…and depressing!
Maintaining net neutrality..and building out true fiber high speed would insure total freedom of choice.
But I agree.. cable and satellite Companies should not be able to charge us for what we don’t want. I’ve mentioned it several times to all my critters.
What do cats have to do with it? Or dogs?
I hope you are right, but there is no special prosecutor… yet. When that happens and it’s not some Hamilton or Zelikow type…. and their funding is not threatened. I may breathe a small sigh of relief.
Good night folks. I am off to bed.
Obama has to move on torture it would sure be embarrassing if some other country like the EU put out arrest warrants first for the low guys and then moved up to Bush.
Well, they are better listeners. /s
Sleep like a log wake up and discover that it is all a bad dream Freddie madeto scare us
They’ve also bought most of the Dems too… Look at how Durbin’s amendment got shot down by 14 Dem Senators… Dick was right about the Banks owning them…
nite mary.
Aloha, Ma’am…
Truer words were never spoken…by the way our moon on the central coast is red from the Santa Barbara fire…Fire season in May? I did wild land fire fighting two years got ascute bronchitis from the smoke…we got called at the end of the summer usually. Half the average rainfall this season…lot of carbon going into the atmosphere adding more heat. I bet they see it at the telescope at Flagstaff.
Local govt franchises are involved in exclusive cable deals. Might be worth asking questions closer to home.
CT, The Mauna Kea photos were nice, thanks! What’s your elevation again?
Interesting, since I thought the El Nino years were the most worrisome… This is a La Nina year…
been a while since I posted.
Thank you for the link CT. That moon looks like it’s absolutely stunning.
(I’ve bookmarked the link. That’s just too cool for words)
Nite Mary
Just a couple hundred feet shy of 14,000 feet…! 13,700~…!
I’m rural, way out in the country.. satellite only. The only person who is getting any pressure that I know about, is Mark Pryor.. And he’s in the pocket of that industry.
Good to see you, beard5.
How do we get our country back?
I remember the first HONDA sign it was a symbol of something that was starting and would grow and grow and grow.
We live in a dog eat dog world and the Robberbanks are the Big Dogs and they are off of the porch. Pierpont Morgan has returned with a vengeance. Our chronic homeless population has grown 68% in four years.
You’re all most welcome…! *g*
It truly is spectacular in person… I’ve been at it for about a year and it never gets old watching the sunset and rise every time…!
I could do away with the frigid, biting winds tho…! ;-)
Wow.. That’s as high as Mount Whitney in CA.
I’m not suggesting irrelevant poo-flinging may not serve a purpose. It could provide perverse political cover for looking forward, not back.
The hot spot out in the South Pacific is it already heating up? La Nina…shit. The fire winds are circling…boy I hope this is not like the one Australia just had last month. The fire crews (2500) have no clue yet thousands of evacuees.
If you take the elevation from the immediate surrounding sea floor… It tops Mt Everest by 10,000 ft… Many geologists consider the Big Isle the biggest rock in the world…! ;-)
On the political market called K street you can buy a vote…money talks as long as principles are a joke. Pelosi is married to a billionaire check out wiki there are some strange bedfellows
Now this is my kind of Rep.…!
Way to go!
I know.. Please forgive me.. the last week or so I’ve had a moderate bout of the activist blues. At a loss of a sense of what to do next.. and worried we wont get these investigations.
I don’t know why, but I am much better today.
Seems to me… the important lesson learned from the ABC story last night is just how badly we need not only to investigate everyone, but perhaps most of all those who are seemingly off the table.. CIA.
La Nina El Nino on NOAA http://www.pmel.noaa.gov/tao/e…..story.html
Sweet!
Thank you.
**passes over a darned good chocolate martini**
Apparently, We’ve just transitioned out of the La Nina…!
Perfect…..ahhhh.
Wow the new Star Trek has 81% positive reviews on Blippr: http://bit.ly/lxFJP
I really liked the Asteroid Tour. Why do these kids always wear the headphones while performing?
They were in a studio.. Lots of videos are made in studio these days. Especially radio studios.
Oh, ES, I meant to thank you for posting the videos. You’re helping to keep me aware of the new music that’s out there. (And other obscure music)
–as a bit of history, I was a college radio dj, in the 80’s
CT, I also meant to ask what you were looking at/for tonight, if you’re able to say (and if you’re still here)
I’ve always admired Bill Moyers’ frankness…
Sorry, I’m in lousy humor tonight. Sometimes the sense of powerlessness seems overwhelming.
Thanks for the hospitality.
Thanks LooHoo and beard.. always nice to hear what works and what doesn’t for folks. I do try to post the best of the newest music on video most of the time.
80’s college! We are the same generation, beard.
Time for me to turn in.
Good night firedogs.
We do weather this so much better together, don’t we?
G’ night Sunny
Actually, I’m a laser spotter… That is I keep an eye peeled for aircraft that could stray nearby… I’m not sure what they’re looking at tonite, but, they did take part in this recent discovery… ;-)
Aloha, ES and Sunny!
Night ES and Sunny!
(or Good morning, on my coast)
Okay, that confirms that you’ve got one of the coolest jobs around. Wow.
and the writer of that article had a great point that’s rarely mentioned, that the redshift eventually causes things to be, effectively, invisible.
Quite literally the coolest… It’s a brisk 25 degrees F with 25 mph gusts adding it’s wind chill tonite… In Jan. we had sub zero weather with swirling snow drifts…! ;-)
Okay, I should be sending you hot chocolate instead of chocolate martinis. :p
Heh, I’ve got plenty of Hot Chocolate and even an awesome espresso machine that I’ve grown quite fond of…! ;-)
Hey, CT, thanks for that link.
Heard on NPR this afternoon: “The worst is behind us; only 500,000 jobs were lost last month.”
Good Morning, Wigwam. I heard that on Rachel Maddow, last night. It’s so bizarre to think “Hmm, this is good news because the news isn’t as bad as it has been” Or, “It didn’t suck as much as it could have.”
If half a million more people don’t have jobs, things are getting worse regardless of what the Dow Jones does.
Aloha, wigwam…!
That’s the same meme the Grey Lady is spewing…
U.S. Jobless Rate Hits 8.9%, but Pace Eases
Things are definitely getting worse, more slowly perhaps but definitely worse.
Damn! It’s later than I thought.
G’nite CT and beard5
Heh, blame the full moon…
Ciao…! ;-)
Wow, Eugene Robinson hits it outta the park…
MIA On Gay Marriage
CT, Thanks for the find. I’d love to see DADT nuked.
I’ve been thrilled with my own State Legislature, and have sent a letter, and a phone call, to my Governor, urging him to sign the Same Sex marriage equality thingie into law. (thingie is an obscure parliamentary term, dating to the early 14th century. Really.) (that’s here in NH)
Going and listening to the legislators debating the matter has been good, it’s kept me involved in politics since the campaign. It doesn’t hurt that my state rep and senator both recognize by sight. I’m the guy either embroidering, or making needle-lace.
I used to live in Enfield, NH… Right on Lake Mascoma…! I loved going to the town hall meetings…!
This is pretty gloomy…
Good morning, pups. It’s Collins and Herbert this morning. Gail Collins gives us a primer on “The Care and Feeding of Arlen.” She says Arlen Specter’s theory was that his propensity to do whatever he wanted should not only be tolerated, but rewarded. Mr. Herbert, in “Far From Over,” says joblessness is like a cancer in the society. The last thing in the world that you want is for it to metastasize. And that’s what’s happening now.
Here they are.
The coffee and tea are ready, and I’ve got French toast made with challah and cinnamon, with Vermont maple syrup. I’m heading out to the garden to pick lettuce. It’s supposed to get fairly hot this afternoon and I want to get it in before it gets wilted from the heat and/or bolts and gets bitter. Have a great day.
Heh, even Time mag. is questioning Geithner and the stress tests…
