OT - remember the two dudes from AIPAC that DOJ decided not to prosecute for espionage last week?

From Grant F Smith’s America’s Defense Line, pg 182, pub 2008

The more involved and ingratiated foreign lobbyists could become in high officialdom, the less likely they were to ever be seriously prosecuted for FARA-related crimes, up to and including espionage. Between 2005 and 2008, this tactic would be tested to the hilt in pre-trial maneuvers defending two AIPAC officials against indictments brought under the 1917 Espionage Act. The defense was finally granted the right to call high-ranking Bush administration officials to testify, a tactic that almost guaranteed presidential pardon or dismissal of the case for lack of witnesses if all invoke executive branch prerogatives not to appear.

IIRC we got a lame non-statement from DOJ when the charges were dismissed.

I’m surprised and glad to see that my new rep–Bill Foster, in Hastert’s old district– has apparently not officially joined the blue dogs, unless they have not yet updated the web site with his picture. He worked with Patrick Murphy of PA before he went back to Illinois to run in the IL 14th. He’ll vote with the blue dogs on a regular basis. He’s not a racist/dixiecrat blue dog though.
