The half-dozen remaining white male Supreme Court Justices, comprising possibly only two-thirds of the nine votes on the Court all while drawn from a population that makes up less than a third of the nation. Poor white males, so white, so male, so entrenched in power. How can this cartoonishly over-represented minority group — so dear to the Villagers of the Beltway (85% white males) — be preserved against these imposing statistics?

I think Obama should nominate a woman Michelle Obama likes to go shopping with…you know…kind of like how Scalia liked to go fishing with Dick Cheney. The Court is always much friendlier this way.

If you added up all the brains on the right side of the aisle, you might not get to triple digits. They have lots of ways of hiding it, including the tactic you point out, but ideology is the biggest ploy. If it’s true by belief, it does not require any intelligent defense.

We also have no liberals left on the court like Thurgood Marshall. NY Times Mag wrote a piece called “Supreme Court Inc.” Even Ginsberg is corporate friendly. So just any old woman will not do. We need somebody who will advocate for the people over the corporations. Someone should ask the nominee about corporate personhood.
In my polling, even men that I ask agree that the court will not be a normal court until there are at least 5 women since women represent over 50% of the population.
Since all women are not white, it should be noted that the two women who have been on the SCOTUS, are.
