Arlen goes to the back of the line but I guess he’ll be senior to Franken if MN ever stops playing Coleman’s games.

How could bybee be an accessory to the murder of over a 100 human beings, that couldn’t come up with the right answer quick enough, if he didn’t write the memos. Isn’t being a made-man, offing someone ,a requirement for acceptance to the mafia ?

Well, just the slightest amount of D backbone on Specter committee roles. I hope Sestak gives Specter a well deserved retirement after 2010.

Spelling troll: Orrin Hatch.

I don’t think that the case of Abe Fortas is the best precedent for Democrats to use w.r.t. filibustering of a Supreme Court nomination. Fortas was already on the court, and he ended up resigning from the court.

I confess: I did her in church one time. I’m saving the video. She’ll be running for something soon. I can tell by the way she, well, you know.

Think I’ll finish my Cinco de Mayo fifth. And practice my Spanglish. Cheers.

Several legal scholars have remarked that in approving waterboarding, the near-drowning method Mr. Obama and his aides have described as torture, the Justice Department lawyers did not cite cases in which the United States government previously prosecuted American law enforcement officials and Japanese World War II interrogators for using the procedure.

Being so persnickety about torture now is so, uh, 20th century.

Back of the line, Arlen.

From the article: “Specter’s office declined to comment.”

Smartest thing he’s said all week.

I just Googled Melissa Harris-Lacewell, whom I really enjoy seeing on Rachel (and Countdown last night) and discovered that she has a .com website and a media relations specialist and is quite the going commercial enterprise. Not exactly what I expected for a Princeton prof, although I have no personal objections. Just a surprise!

No prosecutions for Yoo and Bybee?

Maybe we could ask Mr. Holder to bring back the first version from OPR – the one that Mukasey thought too harsh?

Not that I have any quarrel with disbarring these hacks: the disbarment of Bybee, in particular, would be particularly tasty….

What ever the outcome of this,The Democrats seem to be out doing the Republicans.Right or wrong the Repubs stood behind whatever bush did.

The Dems on the other hand seem to be doing just the opposite.Case in point the Mortgagae Bill that they voted against,The closing of tax loop holes that some seem to not want to vote for.The are starting to generate a list.Stay tuned.

democracynow is running a segment on how the U.S. military proselytizes for Xtianity, featuring Jeff Sharlet’s article in Harpers. It’s terrifying, much worse than the clip that al Jazeera showed.

Smartest thing he’s said all week

Too bad he wasn’t smart enough to tell the JFK assassins to buzz off when they approached him to be part of the assassination cover-up.

He (Arlen Specter) kept trying to get me to change my story, particularly regarding the number of shots. He said I had been told how many shots there were and I figured he was talking about what the Secret Service told me right after the assassination. His inflection and attitude was that I knew what I was supposed to be saying, why wouldn’t I just say it. I asked him, ‘Look, do you want the truth or just what you want me to say?’ He said he wanted the truth, so I said, ‘The truth is that I heard between four and six shots.’

I told him, ‘I’m not going to lie for you.’ So he starts talking off the record. He told me about my life, my family, and even mentioned that my marriage was in trouble. I said, ‘What’s the point of interviewing me if you already know everything about me?’ He got angrier and finally told me, ‘Look, we can even make you look as crazy as Marguerite Oswald [Lee Oswald’s mother] and everybody knows how crazy she is. We could have you put in a mental institution if you don’t cooperate with us.’ I knew he was trying to intimidate me… (as told to researcher Jim Marrs)

spectors office always refuses comment. He’s one of my boys so I ask;

1 Is the Senator a duel citizen ?
2 Does the Senator support a Nuclear Free Middle East ?
3 Do we still have the rope that was used in bush’s assassination of Saddam ?
4 Would you rather treason trials over an International War Crimes Tribunal?

I guess the only straight answer one can get is where can I send the Senator some campaign money?

My comment at 18 was summarizing Obama’s nonresponse to the appointment of the new something at the AF Academy, who is even more virulently Xtianist than the prior men in his position (can’t remember what it is). So the past problems will only be exacerbated.

Well, at least U.S. kids have more ability to withstand proselytizing than poor people in Iraq and Afghanistan who are threatened with death (at least in the military rhetoric) if they don’t convert.

my under caffeinated point was – this story being out there paints an even bigger target on US uniforms. and no, I’m, not saying it shouldn’t have been exposed – I am saying those responsible were derelict in their duty which is to protect the lives of those under them

I don’t like the influence of fundamentalism, but I’m willing to bet that all military services still have a much greater problem trying to prevent the spread of VD than they do the spread of religious fundamentalism. One film clip doesn’t convince me that there are more born again types in the military than in a typical federal prison.

which is to protect the lives of those under them

Other than administration statements that they were protecting the American people the safety and well being of the military never entered their minds. This was/is all about power and underlings do not warrant consideration.

Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.

Mama has moved the baby tigers. I’ve seen her but she hasn’t seen fit to lead me to her litter. Yet.

Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.

Completely OT, but this could prove interesting…

WASHINGTON (AFP) — ‘US biotech firm Monsanto announced Tuesday it filed suit against chemical giant DuPont alleging infringement of its patents for “Roundup Ready” herbicide-resistant crops.

The suit filed in federal court in St. Louis, Missouri, names EI du Pont de Nemours and Company and its subsidiary Pioneer Hi-Bred International for “unlawful use of Monsanto’s proprietary Roundup Ready herbicide tolerant technologies in soybeans and corn.”‘

I just watched Bob Corker claim the Hate Crimes Bill was put out by the Dems to make sure that Pedophiles were protected. The hate inside that man should be grounds for a civil commitment. He’s plainly nuts.
