Speaking of cigarettes, last night I was channel surfing for something mindless, but flipped thru the cspans in the process. On one was a panel on torture. One participant was making the hypothetical that if torture was OK to save lives, we should have tortured the cigarette execs to find out how much they knew about the health-damaging aspects of their products. Would have saved a lot more lives than post-9/11 torture. Now, while I am not in favor of torture for any reason, the idea of doing it to tobacco execs has a certain appeal.

I know a lot of Native Americans who would cringe when this group is refered to as AIM.

The fact that Stone is being smeared by the likes of the a consummately chicken-hawk, nepotistic, bloodthirsty Podhoretz family and the truly deranged, sex-obsessed, conspiracy-monger Cliff Kincaid and that will make me place my Izzy Award on an even more prominent shelf in my office.

I just finished reading the transcript of a interview Dan Abrams did with Ashcroft and Gonzales. I could only wish Dan had been as aggressive in his questioning as Glenn would of been. There are two major difference between Stone and those Neo-Cons. One is that Stone denounced the Stalinist methods…while the Neo-Cons have embraced them. The second is that Stone never lost his values for the common man, Podhoretz and his crew saw that power and influence required them to align with the wealthy Conservatives.

Podhoretz, who in the 50’s and early 60’s had friends the likes of Norman Mailer and Alan Ginsburg was denounced by them when he tried to convince them to become agents of a police state.

Cliff Kincaid has an astounding capacity to deny truths even when the evidence is shoved right in front of his nose. For instance, in this article Kincaid states “An FBI document on the official FBI website explicitly identifies [Kathrine Ann] Power as a Weather Underground member. He links to this FBI website which states: “Photo of Katherine Ann Power was removed because she was inaccurately associated with the Weather Underground.”

When informed of his error, Kincaid refused to correct his article, stating “I’m not wrong”.

His capacity for delusion is mind-boggling.

Wow! I wish I could write and think like that. If I could I wouldn’t be sitting here reading this, I would be out actually doing something.

We all have had moments I’m sure, where someone attacks you like that, and the response you come up with, much later unfortunately, is what you would have said if your mind worked like Glenn’s. Mine usually surfaces about a day or two later where I think to myself: “Dang! That’s what I should have said.”
