  • A second wave?
  • Good news.
  • More good news.
  • If only the press were as tough as a 4th grader.
  • Specter: the GOP base is crazy.
  • Palin and parental consent.
  • Updated Senate rankings from Nate.
  • We can hope, anyway.

Arlen Specter , why was it necessary to intimidate Jean Hill? Who is it that you are working for? Presidential assassins? If so, there are some who have a problem with that.

He (Arlen Specter) kept trying to get me to change my story, particularly regarding the number of shots. He said I had been told how many shots there were and I figured he was talking about what the Secret Service told me right after the assassination. His inflection and attitude was that I knew what I was supposed to be saying, why wouldn’t I just say it. I asked him, ‘Look, do you want the truth or just what you want me to say?’ He said he wanted the truth, so I said, ‘The truth is that I heard between four and six shots.’

I told him, ‘I’m not going to lie for you.’ So he starts talking off the record. He told me about my life, my family, and even mentioned that my marriage was in trouble. I said, ‘What’s the point of interviewing me if you already know everything about me?’ He got angrier and finally told me, ‘Look, we can even make you look as crazy as Marguerite Oswald [Lee Oswald’s mother] and everybody knows how crazy she is. We could have you put in a mental institution if you don’t cooperate with us.’ I knew he was trying to intimidate me… (as told to researcher Jim Marrs)

The monster just miscalculated. The 2010 PA Democratic primary exposes its thinly-clad jugular. Strike the jugular and the monster dies.

Basement work all week long for us. Cross yer fingers no one cuts our water line or anything else they didn’t intend to. It’ll be messy enough even if it goes well. Oogh! I miss my puppy-romps.

Have a good day all.

and more good news is this from TBogg’s thread from last night @61:

Hi, this is Elmore, Katymine’s friend. We wanted to give you an update on her situation. She is often logged on to FDL but her symptoms do not allow her to make entries. She is nearing the end of her brain radiation treatments and is doing fine. Her hair is starting to fall out so she got a Phoenix summer haircut (think Marine boot camp) but I think she looks just wonderful! They say that her hair will grow back curly… Overall, given the situation, she’s doing very well and the care at Mayo Clinic is nothing short of excellent.

(((((katymine))))) i’m sooo glad to hear you’re doing well. thanks elmore for keeping us updated. love to you both.

Does anyone know who the 2nd major Dem. rival is besides Lee Fisher, running to replace retiring (thot he already did years ago) sen. voinovichy?

Fisher’s got a terrific rep in OH. Dems could take this. I feel it in my old achy bones. It’s time. ;->

I wasn’t paying attention on Saturday, so I just picked this up, which may be old news:

In the world of Alaskan scandal and politics, most of the corrupt politicians indicted or in jail have ties back to one man: Bill Allen, the key witness in the government’s case against Ted Stevens and the former CEO of VECO, an oil pipeline company in Alaska.

And while Allen is still awaiting sentencing for bribing a group of Alaskan state senators, the rest of the Allen clan seems to be doing just fine: on Saturday, a racehorse owned by Allen’s son won the Kentucky Derby on 50-1 odds.

But Mark was getting lucky far before the Derby. Bill Allen arranged for immunity for his son, who had also paid off a state legislator, in exchange for the elder Allen’s full cooperation with the government’s cases against the state legislators and Ted Stevens.

This is the 39th anniversary of the murder of 4 students and the wounding of 9 others, one who was permanently paralyzed, by the Ohio National Guard at Kent State University.

My Dad was a professor at OSU. When the news broke, riots broke out at Ohio State. My Dad almost didn’t make it home alive. He couldn’t drive his car to work for a long time…He was on the side of the students but sometimes being employed by a government institution was enough for him to be distrusted.

I will never forget the National Guard lining High Street on the east side while students lined up on the west side. The rifles pointed at the students while we drove down High Street terrified me.
