Hey nahant, yes they have.
I am hearing lots of good reviews of Pete’s birthday concert in NYC tonight… but, so far, no short youtubes of the show.

Can’t wait for them, who was performing?
the mrs returned from the show and raved about it, especially McGuinn and Dave Matthews.

The coolest!
es, how be the wing and how went the hillbilly tea party?
enquiring minds….
And you didn’t go? Such restraint! /s
Shit!! Sure hope they do put up the whole show on YouTube!!
No outside tea this week, Sunny. It’s been dark as night and pouring down rain all weekend. However last weekend I made a strong pot of the Orange and black tea… was wonderful in the late afternoon sun.
Yesterday I tried the mango energizer…. was perfect for a lazy dark afternoon.
I’m really enjoying this, think you helped start a new trend at casa de eureka.
alas, I never followed through with procuring it. online samples sound pretty good.
applied to wrists and ankles.
Well that wasn’t very nice of your wife to do that.. and then just leave and go to a concert. /s
Moving higher up my list each week.
Pete Seeger. 90.
From Red Scare, to Folk Scare, to Rainbow World, to ambassador to the world.
Not since Louis Armstrong has there been as great a musical ambassador to the world from our country.
A legend, a mountain of a man, a changer of things, an influence.
On music, politics, our daily lives, our thoughts.
A writer, a chronicler, a channeler, a historian, a maker of news, a reporter of news.
A leader, a follower.
Like some greats I so admire, Studs Terkel, Noam Chomsky, and the like, he was a bard of the ages.
And he bards, across SO many ages . . . . like the greats always do.
A voice. A reckoning. A muse.
What more can he be? Other than what he’s been?
A hoss, a hero, a spokesperson for the masses.
A song of reason, a song of dire, a song of struggle, fight and endurance.
A song of being.
Off the top of my head, I got Doc Watson, Earl Scruggs, Mary Travers voice, Peter N Pauls too, Joan Baez, Mr. Zimmerman (bless his soul) and a handful of others that MAY walk in the shoes of Mr. Seeger . . .
And NO one, other than Mr. Seeger, does it for the masses like Utah Phillips, did.
You can tally up the music, against the musicians . . . he’s one of the greats.
But when ya factor in the human touch, the grace, the will, the fight, the right and rightous?
He stands alone amongst his remaining contemporaries. (bless Utah Phillips)
I’ll not be saying that, about such a man, for a long time, I don’t think, till Mr. Zimmerman perhaps, hits 90, certainly Mz. Baez.
Pete Seegar. A lifetime before me, a lifetime for me.
A lifetime after us all. Deservedly.
Thanks, ES.
*bows*
She says to mention how great Toshi Reagon was and to ask if you know who the “guy with the beautiful Irish tenor” was.
I love Pete Seeger. Thanks for the music, ES.
Waves to everyone
((katymine))
Hey Margot how ya doing??
No, not yet.. haven’t heard any of the show. But now I’m doubly curious.
Good evening, Margot.
Banks Are Prevailing in a Tug of War
Shit Dam Fuck!! This is plain fucking wrong on so many levels!!
‘K, gotta bow to the clip ES posted of Mr. Seeger, which I just watched . . . .
Wow.
Thanks, ES. That was special . . . . .
Maybe Rufus Wainwright?
I sure wish utah had some clean recordings on YouTube. Been a few months since I checked…. fun stuff, but not good audio quality.
Hey Nahant, I’m fine, I’m thinking of you and your sweetie and hoping you keep a close eye on each other.;)
I’ve been to Preservation Hall probably 30 times. Usually try to go every evening I am in downtown New Orleans. It never gets old. Surprised how much of the vibe came through that video.
I concur that banks prevailing is just oh so wrong.
But we got Pete Seeger . . . and the rest of the shit will sort itself out.
Sometimes, we mortals just have to yell, and then let it all fall down. ;-)
80% of French people think labor unions have an important role to play in the economic crisis.
Americans? I wonder.
Posted this Friday… worth repeating for those who missed it.

We do We do… It been almost 18 years together and if anything all that we both have been through has made our relationship stronger!! We can’t to go to the youngest College graduation at the end of the month down in City of Orange (LaLa land)and then go back to Boston for the weddings of two of my nephews!!!
No, but you’re close. She said this guy used to sing with Wainwright and the McGarrigle sisters
Oops, missed your post. I’ll look for it.
Mango energizer – loved it. But sent my BP into the stratosphere (something about mate’ I fear).
Currently exploring pu’er. Tastes great and can be steeped again and again. May end up my tipple of choice.
Yeh, that’s sad., but his recorded stuff . . .
I’m lucky, I live in the listening area (Sacramento) where he broadcasted for ten years or more on a local community station. KVMR. He lived in the region of Auburn, Grass Valley . . . .
I heard him live on the air, saw and chatted with him at station events, and in his last 3 years, he appeared at http://www.strawberrymusic.com fest a few times . . . and I got to shake and howdy with him as he hung out at the local LPFM fest station tent . . . . he always said howdy, he always had time to talk about baseball, politics, workers rights, or most anything else I brought up . . . .
A man of the people . . . he was.
Glad to see ya know of him, and such . . . along with Studs Terkel, what I’d call a . . . hero.
I had to look up ‘mate’.
Hoss, as a collective hive, we just ain’t as smart as the French.
U kno dat. Oui all nowed dat . . . .
Q is, where will we go from here?
Books open, story’s to be told . . . I got no good predilictions.
Ewe?
Yer a lucky hooman to see Pres. Hall Jazz Band, any year, much less that the times ya been there and done that.
We have a good Old Jazz Jubilee here in Sacto, and I DID see them once or twice, back in the mid to late 90’s.
I love the swing . . . in any genre . . . they swung.
Teh Swing Rawkhs. ;-)
The American Worker and the American economy need Unions. As has been said the rush to the bottom will produce workers who can’t afford to buy the products being made… no products sold no economy… disaster for all. Greed is and has been the problem of unfettered Capitalism.
We agree about greed.
And a lot more, methinks..
If this present Prez and admin don’t pull a FDR and WPA fast, we have not so much hope.
Not us 50 somethings, needing jobs . . . that is.
Alas, that’s my stuff, not yers . . . and I bid all in this fine forum a good nite and deep sleep with hopes and promises of a better morrow . . . . . I ramble to the sandman . . . zzzzz
Night Laure.. indeed we do seem to agree on a lot, you can add your taste in music.. I have followed many of the performers you listed since (cough cough) the late fifties. My oldest sister was in Greenwich Village during the Beatnik era and brought home much of the Music, used to party with Mary of PP&M. As for Bob I just watched a movie about his life and time staring Cate Blanchett in I’m not there. If ya haven’t seen it it is well worth the time..
Glad to hear it’s good. It’s next on my netflix queue.
Preservation Hall – evocative and timeless. A New Orleans jazz funeral is a perfect send-off IMO.
This is really nice piano.
