It’s Dowd, Kristof and Rich today. Ms. Dowd reminds us this morning of the writer she used to be, before she started writing feverish fiction. In “How Character Corrodes” she says the Republicans’ newfound concern about checks and balances is touching, given what the Bush administration did to undermine the process. Mr. Kristof, in “A Nation of Typhoid Marys,” says the flu crisis should be a wake-up call, a reminder that one of the nation’s vulnerabilities to the possible pandemic is our deeply flawed medical system. Mr. Rich has heard enough. In “Enough With the 100 Days Already” he says President Obama’s high marks by the public and the press are all ludicrously provisional.
