Obama’s 100 Days of Auto Bailout

By: emptywheel Wednesday April 29, 2009 8:12 am

Overall, I’d rank Obama’s treatment of the auto bailout with an A-.

Olympia Snowe Puts Out the “For Sale” Sign?

By: Jane Hamsher Wednesday April 29, 2009 7:12 am

Olympia Snowe in the NYT:

Regrettably, we failed to learn the lessons of Jim Jeffords’s defection in 2001. To the contrary, we overreached in interpreting the results of the presidential election of 2004 as a mandate for the party. This resulted in the disastrous elections of 2006 and 2008, which combined for a total loss of 51 Republicans in the House and 13 in the Senate — with a corresponding shift of the Congressional majority and the White House to the Democrats.

Sen. Lugar to Support Dawn Johnsen — How About Your Senator?

By: Christy Hardin Smith Wednesday April 29, 2009 5:59 am

Sen. Richard Lugar, R-Ind., said Tuesday he will support the nomination of an Indiana University law professor to head the Obama administration’s internal law office.

Late Night: Rumsfeld, Swine Flu, Fringenuts, and You

By: Lisa Derrick Tuesday April 28, 2009 8:01 pm

The fringenuts are freaking out over swine flu, calling for border crackdowns and muttering strange conspiracy theories. But recall if you will from simpler times in the age of disco, right before punk rock when swine flu first raised its grotty snout into America’s sightlines. . . .

Oh, My D-Arlen.

By: Eli Tuesday April 28, 2009 6:01 pm

Okay, so, let me get this straight: Arlen Specter switches from Republican to Democrat in a blatant act of voter-shopping (“I’m not prepared to have my 29-year record in the United States Senate decided by the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate”) to prevent his ass from being kicked by Club For Growth wingnut Pat Toomey.

Was OLC Procedure Bypassed with Torture Memos?

By: Christy Hardin Smith Tuesday April 28, 2009 5:15 pm

How APA Made a Pact with DoD & CIA over Torture Interrogations

By: Jeff Kaye Tuesday April 28, 2009 4:10 pm

Miles asks Behnke and Koocher “to publically urg[e] the APA to conduct a transparent review of how” it
