Ghetto Culture and Black Muslims

I saw that the ‘pro virginity’ opposition on the Today Show clip was a black woman. I thought she would talk about the particular problems that black girls, particularly in ghettos have with existing only as sexual objects.

Increased education and increased socioeconomic status is the best way out of this trap. But that takes a while.

While I don’t approve of religion in general, I can understand why the surge of Islam within blacks makes some sense - it’s puritanical stance may allow girls to complete Jr. High School, or college without dropping out to raise babies.

Hopefully if they make it through college they will know enough to shake off much of the patriarchal aspects of such an upbringing.
