Morning pups. One thing about living in a time zone 6 hours east of the East Coast is you miss the breaking news. Much to my surprise, I see this morning that Spector changed sides to save his skin. Kristol is his usual pathetic self. What else is new? His Party is road kill.

Good Morning, Over and out this am; but terribly sorry to start my day with Smiley Face Above….it is truly psychotic to wear a smile all the time. Like Coleman, Kristol wants to show his fine new toofs.

Arlen Specter was part of the mob that blew out the brains of Jack Kennedy, an immensely popular US President. His reward for his complicity in that murder is that he will now be made head of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Rumor in Washington has it that Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-HI) may step down from the chairmanship of the Appropriations Committee, giving the seat to Sen. Pat Leahy (D-VT) — and opening the chairmanship of the Judiciary Committee to the new Democrat, Specter. From this post, Specter could indefinitely delay hearings on Johnsen, not to mention completely kill Leahy’s efforts to hold a truth commission to examine Bush’s use of torture and other illegal practices.

Lessee now, Specter was 33 at the time of Kennedy’s assassination, working as an Assistant District Attorney in Philly. He later worked for the Warren Commission.

I’d like to see some proof of your allegation.

Bachmann finally took time out of her schedule working directly for rich Americans to meet the kids of her rich constituents…

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_NQRe…..uffjpg.jpg

As the first sentence says, she doesn’t get back to often to do a meet and greet, but when she did, she only wanted to hang with the children, you know, the people who are taught not to talk back to her to point out how batshitcrazy she is!

Okay, going to work. Have a great day everyone.

Bill Kristol has a point (besides the one atop his head). He has signaled the Republic talking point for 2010, i.e., return checks and balances. And some folks will buy that. They’re willfully oblivious to the complete lack of same for eight grueling years. Bobble head voters. “Oh, yeah, that makes sense, I’ll vote that way!” What’s missing is that the Dems are checking and balancing themselves to an extent that they need no help with that whatsoever.

It is possible to get a progressive candidate supported by the grassroots elected. It just takes a lot more work. It wouldn’t surprise me but I think they’d be wrong. Now that Dean is no longer DNC head the DLC crowd has taken control back. That means support for the ruling class, ignoring all others. Hopefully they’re in for a surprise in 2010 across the country.

fhm @ 59 – When I first heard of the switch I thought maybe he was going to announce his retirement at a time when it would be hard for Dems to field a candidate. Like you, I think his surviving another term may be pretty iffy.

Anyway Re: Kristol – I don’t think I saw the switch of Jeffords as having been particularly significant at the time and I don’t think it’s been significant in retrospect. The Democratic Party was still under the thrall of the DLC, still convinced that being Republican-lite was the way to go. I doubt that Democrats defecting to the Republicans will be a big concern for the next year and a half. More likely, Republicans will just fade away.

I hope they do obstruct as much as they can. It will be the only way we can save this country from outright socialism.
Do not forget what Margaret Thatcher said: “The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”
Have you libs thought about what we are going to do once we do run out of money? … and we are on our way to running out of money. Once we are there it will make an excellent segue to communism.
