Morning pups. One thing about living in a time zone 6 hours east of the East Coast is you miss the breaking news. Much to my surprise, I see this morning that Spector changed sides to save his skin. Kristol is his usual pathetic self. What else is new? His Party is road kill.
Good Morning, Over and out this am; but terribly sorry to start my day with Smiley Face Above….it is truly psychotic to wear a smile all the time. Like Coleman, Kristol wants to show his fine new toofs.
Arlen Specter was part of the mob that blew out the brains of Jack Kennedy, an immensely popular US President. His reward for his complicity in that murder is that he will now be made head of the Senate Judiciary Committee.
biden, obama, specter live on msnbc cnn cspan1
Unfortunately RevBev there are enough of these idiots that we can have a different one every day of the week. Things could be worse it could be Michele Bachman’s face.
“let them govern for the next year and a half”
Yeah i think they might just do so, effectively, effeciently and alot more closer to the constitution than billy boy could even dream of.
leen posted this over at marcy’s house, http://informationclearinghous…..e22511.htm
a video of bush saying “I was just following orders” is no defense and war criminals WILL be prosecuted
that needs to go viral and pronto
Patrick Leahy has five years seniority over him. Specter won’t be taking over judiciary.
as you may know, I love Joe The Biden. Happy as a pig in shit when OPbama selected him.
very disappointed. not too surprised. a little bit. but still disappointed
http://thinkprogress.org/2009/…..s-johnsen/
That would be a disaster.
speechless.
this shit? already?
Lessee now, Specter was 33 at the time of Kennedy’s assassination, working as an Assistant District Attorney in Philly. He later worked for the Warren Commission.
I’d like to see some proof of your allegation.
Rumor in Washington has it ….
holy mother of fuck.
Hopefully the “rumor” is from Harry Reid, and Leahy will tell him to piss off.
Sunday is Pete Seeger’s 90th birthday. His music is being celebrated all over the country this week.
Why did I have to see 20 seconds of Sardonicus this early in the morning?
This person has now earned my troll label.
A segment on this was on either Countdown or Rachel last night.
I thought it was a cabal of militant Cubans, CIA, and right-wing homosexuals. That’s what Oliver Stone told me, anyway.
in case you hadn’t seen it yet – Lugar has dropped his opposition to Dawn Johnsen
Mornin’ All
a video of bush saying “I was just following orders” is no defense and war criminals WILL be prosecuted
After which he immediately executed a Signing Statement saying that this policy only applied to non-commissioned National Guard volunteers.
Lugar has dropped his opposition to Dawn Johnsen
thanks. huh – brain coma is only an intermittent condition?
signing statements carry no weight against our law.
you make a valid point but there it is for all to see never the less
CNN has Fred Thompson on to grade Obama’s performance. Who cares what that ass has to say?
Specter’s switch is more evidence that the current D party = the R party of the 1950s.
It’s official:
I WILL NOT CAMPAIGN FOR COLLINS OR SNOWE IF THEY SWITCH TO THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. I AM NOT FOOLED BY EITHER ONE WHO SPENT 8 YEARS VOTING 80% IN FAVOR OF GEORGE BUSH’S POLICIES. THE END.
Signed,
KayInMaine
Of all the buffoons in the rethug party Michele Bachman has to take the grand prize. Yesterday she said it was interesting that the last time we had a swine flu, in 1976, a democrat was in office. Duh Carter came into office in 1977.
Obi seems to have broad support of the people. How about using that political capital for some
CHANGE WE CAN BELIEVE IN??????
First quarter GDP fell at a 6.1% annual rate, but consumer spending rose at a 2.2% rate.
This pretty much sums up Bachmann…
http://lastpostofsanity.com/wp…..hmann2.jpg
She’s taking Limbaugh’s lead. He said “But everywhere Obama is spreading Obamaism there is a deadly disease taking place, either in the TARP community or the newspaper business. Obama goes to Mexico; they have an earthquake. Obama goes to Mexico, they get pig flu.”
Gosh is it necessary to shout this early in the morning. *G*
CNBC guys say that Obama is benefitting from actions W took after Katrina.
Is our consumers learning?
No.
Any info on whether that spending increase has a correlated increase in credit card debt?
Bachmann finally took time out of her schedule working directly for rich Americans to meet the kids of her rich constituents…
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_NQRe…..uffjpg.jpg
As the first sentence says, she doesn’t get back to often to do a meet and greet, but when she did, she only wanted to hang with the children, you know, the people who are taught not to talk back to her to point out how batshitcrazy she is!
Okay, going to work. Have a great day everyone.
Not in the GDP report. There are other data on consumer debt. Let me look for a link.
I don’t get the frivolity over Spector’s switch either (Unless he always votes for closure). Other than that, he’s just destroyed our chance to get a true dem Senator from PA.
I love that he never said he’s a democrat. He’s just borrowing the label to win an election. Who needs that?
This face?
Yup
they’re possibly right, if bush handled katrina commendably we might have a republican in office right now
ohmygosh, kayinmaine got here first! It’s a sign. It’s cosmic! It’s Batshitcrazy Woman!
When ever i go out to eat with my father lately he always says, “look at this place(any resteraunt we are in) this place is packed, and people say we are in a recession.” But having worked at alot of resteraunts in my day, i know pretty well that most dinner at resteraunts are paid with credit cards nowadays. Its not even close to 50/50 credit/cash payments.
He provided the cover story.
Obstruction of justice.
Head judiciary my foot
Here’s monthly data thru February. It looks like consumer debt is decreasing in fits and starts. Look at Table 10 in my first link. The increase in spending came from a decrease in taxes. The personal saving rate increased from 3.2% to 4.2%.
sign me on board kay from maine
Of course, they were talking about increasing stocks of antiviral meds, and establishing a good example for how to handle disasters. I kid you not.
I’m just waiting for him to vote against EFCA and then make his pitch to the PA labor community.
Seems to be it wouldn’t take much to primary his sorry old ass right outta town….
Sanity prevails..
Bill Kristol has a point (besides the one atop his head). He has signaled the Republic talking point for 2010, i.e., return checks and balances. And some folks will buy that. They’re willfully oblivious to the complete lack of same for eight grueling years. Bobble head voters. “Oh, yeah, that makes sense, I’ll vote that way!” What’s missing is that the Dems are checking and balancing themselves to an extent that they need no help with that whatsoever.
cspan talked about that. There is a D with a $6 million war chest. Can’t remember the name & don’t know whether he’s a DINO or not.
The DCCC has a website up, Bachmann Watch to keep track of the insanity.
Thanks. That’s good news if consumers are continuing to increase savings and decrease debt.
Sestak added over $500K to his multimillion dollar war chest in the first quarter.
Schumer’s swimming in cash.
Jury is still out. Let’s see what happens in a quarter when there is no tax cut.
That was my first thought when I heard about his switch. He votes against EFCA and labour’s million-ton shit hammer will take him out. It is possible to get a progressive candidate supported by the grassroots elected. It just takes a lot more work. I would imagine labour will be more than willing to knock on doors for a labour friendly candidate.
OK. Coffee’s gone & I still have 16 out of 22 trees that I bought on Sunday to plant. bbl.
Off to swim in the great batshit crazy capitalist cesspool.
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
Namaste
The person cspan mentioned was a D who was planning on running against Specter in the general election.
Specter will be running as a 80 yr old who has twice survived cancer. I seriously doubt he would survive a sixth term.
wow. I just had an under caffeinated thought – are the DNC Powers That Be counting on Labor’s financial might being diminished by some Big 3 layoffs ?
I’m fully caffeinated. Good thought. Which moves me to my pet topic, i.e., campaign finance reform. Batshit about time!
It wouldn’t surprise me but I think they’d be wrong. Now that Dean is no longer DNC head the DLC crowd has taken control back. That means support for the ruling class, ignoring all others. Hopefully they’re in for a surprise in 2010 across the country.
fhm @ 59 – When I first heard of the switch I thought maybe he was going to announce his retirement at a time when it would be hard for Dems to field a candidate. Like you, I think his surviving another term may be pretty iffy.
Colour me gone.
Let’s not forget the scary job they did on Lou “Mexico is the Root of All Evil” Dobbs’ choppers a while back.
Aww, that’s mean! Michelle’s a purty thang. ‘Course that don’t mean I wanna hear her speak about ennythang. She IS kind of a loon.
Anyway Re: Kristol – I don’t think I saw the switch of Jeffords as having been particularly significant at the time and I don’t think it’s been significant in retrospect. The Democratic Party was still under the thrall of the DLC, still convinced that being Republican-lite was the way to go. I doubt that Democrats defecting to the Republicans will be a big concern for the next year and a half. More likely, Republicans will just fade away.
” no one can say the republicans are obstructing anything”
“let them try and govern for the next year and a half”
Kristol knows it’s full steam ahead on obstruction.
I hope they do obstruct as much as they can. It will be the only way we can save this country from outright socialism.
Do not forget what Margaret Thatcher said: “The trouble with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.”
Have you libs thought about what we are going to do once we do run out of money? … and we are on our way to running out of money. Once we are there it will make an excellent segue to communism.
At c-span, NPR and PBS we need to hear people like all of you , not Kristol and all the other phony neocons, we need P.Obama and Congress to set these 3 networks FREE !!!!
