  • EU: don’t go to US/Mexico.
  • CDC: wash your hands.
  • Porkulus!
  • Good on Pat.
  • Guns on the back burner?
  • President Carter on the assault weapons ban.
  • Sign of the times.
  • I agree: can’t afford to ignore ‘em.
  • So much for moral clarity.

I hope Patrick Leahy follows through. Americans are ready to see heads roll in the Bush Regime. We can do more than one thing at a time….fixing the economy, getting our troops home, protecting our country, and investigating, arresting, and jailing the Bush Pigs. See? We’re ready! Yes we can!

Good morning, BT. Actually under the law and treaties, those who were “just following orders” should be subject to prosecution, too. Perhaps the “following orders” will be seen as mitigating circumstances, but it shouldn’t give them a free pass.

Only 49% of Americans support a ban on torture? jhfc, where’d they do the survey – in a Wal-Mart?

If those numbers are even close, we are so fucked. How’s the weather in Costa Rica this time of year?

Mumia Abu-Jamal – New Left Forum

A message to the left to get organized.

What is it with Will and the Rethugs? Every time somebody brings up looking into a Shrub policy they all scream that some segment of society will collapse. I wonder how much Will pays to keep his hair colour.

I posted two Meet the Press videos on my blog. One shows David Gregory getting irritated at King Abullah because he isn’t following the beltway narrative on torture and the other documents Doris Kerns Goodwin not following the beltway narrative and then having her part in the discussion about torture dropped from the online MSNBC video. I kid you not. I don’t know if it was an accident or not but her part is not in the video. They are the first two posts on my blog. You may also want to check out the 3rd post. It shows what was on the Post’s main page on their website last night.

I read a piece on HuffPo (actually it was a NYT piece) that talked about how CNN said they were unbiased. As I was reading that I had CNN on the tube. They did a piece on torture where they showed video of Feinstein, Bond, McCain and Leahy’s view about investigating torture. With the exception of Leahy no one seemed interested in investigations. I guess this confirms that the secret intelligence committee investigation is going nowhere. This segment also confirms, what we already knew, CNN is biased as hell.

Noonan was a disgrace on Fareed Z’s show. She said Obama was doing to much and then Fareed called her out on it. He asked, “Do you think he is doing to much or do you disagree with everything he is trying to do?” Her non-answer answer was enough to tell how she thinks. If you dont have anything constructive to say, get off the TV!!

Reading about the pending flue pandemic, it occurs to me it’s sure a good thing Susan Collins cut funding for pandemic planning from the stimulus package, dontcha think? It always gives me the warm fuzzies to know that people like Collins are looking out for the best interests of the American people.

After listening to Noonan’s sing-song, unctuous, cloying pomposities yesterday, I wondered if Reagan ever had the desire to tell her to just STFU and write speeches.

Whereas when Rep. David Obey wanted $900 million for pandemic preparation in this year’s emergency stimulus bill, he was ridiculed by conservative operatives and congressional Republicans.

Nevah hoppen.

A little Marx to start the day. Talking about the centralization of capital (like monopolies and oligarchies) in section 4, Chap 25 of Capital:

Accumulation of wealth at one pole is, therefore, at the same time accumulation of misery, the torment of labour, slavery, ignorance, brutalization and moral degradation at the opposite pole, i.e., on the side of the class that produces its own product as capital.

Off to swim in the great capitalist cesspool.

Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.

Namaste

I usually manage to time my Monday morning shower so that I don’t have to listen to Cokie Roberts on Morning Edition. I don’t want to get my week off to a bad start listening to that villager whine.

I was up really early and heard only part of her ME commentary….enough, I do believe, to hear her lament the uproar or dissension that going forward on torture investigation would cause…..like a faux pas. Tell that to the troops and the families.

I mentioned up above in this thread to read the top three posts in my blog. I just wanted to alert you that I added a new one about TNR and Drudge. So it’s no longer the top three posts because Drudge is now first. I really hadn’t planned on posting something else but I saw the TNR author of this Drudge piece on TV and I just had to post something on it.
