That article sent me showed no findings that torture cause the deaths of 108 people. It did not say either way, it did say some deaths were natural causes. I believe that rate is safer than many hospital procedures. Yes I’m looking at the numbers. I also said yes torture is wrong I’m not fighting that I’m saying some of this is blown out of proportion. The people that tortured and injured and killed people is obviously not ok and that was not legal by any stretch of the imagination but some of this is getting stretched too far. Like a frivolous lawsuit where a person wants $4 million dollars because there neighbor feed there dog McDonalds and that meat and I’m a vegan and now I can’t look at my dog the same way ever again or sleep at night. Craziness

This position that basically says - I can torture, break international law, not tell anyone, and when I get caught you can’t investigate me or SEND ME TO JAIL because that’s ‘partisan’….

What an idiot…IF you broke international law and committed international WAR CRIMES that people in the past have been EXECUTED for, then investigation, prosecution if warranted and JAIL is in your future…MITT-THE-TWIT !!!

Huh. You’re right. We should put the Department of Justice to work on bank bailouts with the Treasury, or maybe send them on tours of service with the Marine Corp.

Oh wait, you mean they’re lawyers; not economists or soldiers. That’s great news! That means we can uphold our legal and humanitarian obligations to prosecute crimes while simultaneously performing other crisis management roles and functions of government.

Or are you advocating just shutting down the judiciary entirely, because it’s just too resource intensive and distracting to keep running when we have so many problems facing us?

The Dutch used it on the British in Amboyna (now Indonesia) in 1623. And also their Japanese servants, who were unlikely to have any information about some “assassination plot against the Governor”. This claim was likely a pretence to eliminate their trading rivals in the region, the goal being to coerce confessions (which were obtained, though in a fantastic framework for an impossible plot), then to frighten off any future competitors in the Spice Islands.

I think the Romney and Glenn Beck should be confronted with a case of a soldier, a Mormon, and a skilled speakeer of Arabic, who found what she was being asked to participate in so dispicable, so inhumane, and so antagonistic to her Christian faith…that she refused.

That soldier was then harassed, told “your putting personal beliefs above your duty”, “You not being professional”, and was resassigned to a demeaning task.

She eventually comitted suicide.
