One of the most popular conservative blogs on the Internets uncovers a devious plot against America’s schoolchildren.
April 17 marked the 13th annual "Day of Silence," a gay rights protest event sponsored by GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network) that takes place in schools across the nation.
…
"Day of Silence" is, according to the event’s Web site, "a student-led national event that brings attention to anti-LGBT name-calling, bullying and harassment in schools …the event is designed to illustrate the silencing effect of this bullying and harassment on LGBT students and those perceived to be LGBT."
How dare they! As a father of two, I’m outraged that they’d tell my kids to treat those fags and dykes like human beings.
Predictably, the media covered this year’s event in a positive manner, leaving little room for discussions of it as an indoctrination tool pushed on students by gay activists.
See how clever those gays are?
They start ‘em off with the Teletubbies, hook them on Harry Potter, and by the time your sons participate in this one-day tolerance awareness program, they’ll be swishing like Nathan Lane in a production of La Cage.
Colleen, I’ve gotta tell you, this is very sloppy work. You’re ruining it for all the other fundie bigots who keep saying "we’re not anti-gay, just pro-family."

About Firedoglake
Thanks BT.
Covered it so well and in such a positive manner that I never heard a gosh-darned thing about it.
Well done, liberal media.
Stupid people.
They should listen to Mehgan McCain. She knows that the right wingers have already lost this debate. Kids don’t care if someone is gay, to the lasting shame of my generation. We were the “enlightened” ones yet it took our children to actually change the world.
Aren’t the loons having a counter, um… day, later in the month? Something day?
They should listen to Mehgan McCain.
sad. true. but can anyone say with a straight (so to speak) face that this party is not in the terlit when its best advice comes from Meghan McCain?
We need to use or military power against the Gay Threat, and form a new War on Gays (WOG). We estimate the a few thousand precision strikes from the new Predator Aircraft, the GB Model, will suffice. We’ll develop strategies that embody both the hard approach to containment and the soft approach at reconciliation.
The hard approach is typified by the new Predator GB. The GB is designed to sneak up from behind, and strike down the enemy with a Penetrating Engagement Neutralizing Intensive Strike missile.
As part of the DOD budget request, we will need an additional $4.273 billion to develop this effective new weapon against the male Gay population.
The soft approach will be implemented by a new group in he President Office of Religious Affairs, and the program will be called BAP. BAP is a well tried and true mechanism for addressing the issue, and we believe the Barefoot and Pregnant will form the major thrust of the soft approach.
Got it.

On Monday, April 20, 2009, students from across the country will stand together on the Day of Truth.
This marks the fifth year of the Day of Truth, which was established to counter the promotion of the homosexual agenda and express an opposing viewpoint from a Christian perspective
Gotta mark my calendar. That would be……… 2 days ago. Ooops. Missed it. maybe next year. remind me, huh?
Depressing, but far from surprising. Conservatives constantly whine that their rights to discriminate against and abuse people they don’t like are being violated.
Penetrating Engagement Neutralizing Intensive Strike missile
You are sooooooo bad!
Thanks, BT.
Clinton on Cheney:
“I don;’t consider him to be a particularly reliable source of information.”
Take that. Dick.

LOL.
its best advice comes from Meghan McCain?
Right? Better than Sarah Palin I guess but not by much.
Christy Hardin Smith is upstairs, with a guest.
Nathaniel Raymond, Director of Physicians for Human Rights: The Role of Health Professionals in Bush-Era Torture
And let me say again:
Covered it so well and in such a positive manner that I never heard a gosh-darned thing about it.

Stupid people.
Why are all these silent students infringing on the Xtianists’ right to hate? Sounds like a violation of civil rights to me.
Yeah, because Meghan McCain has gay friends and a gay stylist.
Hey, Meghan, do something constructive for your gay friends, especially since you like in New York now: get some New York state senators to vote YES on marriage equality. In other words, actions speak louder than your silly words to the Log Cabinettes. Use your influence, Meghan. Make something happen.
And soon.
This kind of bullying isn’t just about harassment of LGBT folks, though it has a horrible effect on them. It also has the effect of enforcing social norms on straight teenage boys: a straight male is supposed to behave in a very specific way, and is expected to prove his “manhood”, and part of the way this is done is to participate in the abuse, and to give up any activity not considered to be masculine.
When teenage boys say “that’s so gay”, they aren’t simply attacking queer folks; they are telling each other what they must not do, or like: no bright colors. No interest in the arts. No association with “sissies”. No crying. No talk about feelings. And on and on.
LOL.
I think I might have chosen a different Day of Truth so that it didn’t coincide with the 10th anniversary of the Columbine shootings.
