Brain tumors but then what else is new….
instead of lung tumors
today a better day katymine?
double crap – forgot to dive
boing boing, reverse three-and-a-half somersaults, tuck position, no splash (’natch)
g’evening pups – how is everyone tonight?
Today I admit I have two brain tumors and April 26th they are going to use star wars to zap those too……
Yes I am doing better, off oxygen and hoarseness is better
nooooo..
Ok…. just what do we do after that evening of fun and teabagging?
I’m laughing and I haven’t even watched the toon yet
Hey Suz!
(((((katymine)))))
Will the brain tumors respond like the others? Last I heard things were shrinking.
Yep….. live sucks and then you get cancer….
stars wars did a good job helping ya breath katy
i have confidence that it will do the job on those pesky brain tumors
ask each other if it was good for you
hey newton, sunny and mary mcc
April 26th? That’s great you’re going to that clinic, that’s really quick scheduling isn’t it?
Brain tumors are new, if you can call them new but Mayo found them so I call them new. I have two and they are going to zap them, steriotactic radio surgery but using brain mapping. High tech and all that jaz…. single beam to irradiate with the best route to map through my brain.
hey margot
It is amazing how fast they are getting to this…….
Anyway….. is there life after teabagging?
How can we survive that?
Out damn spots.
((((katymine))))
hey greg b – hows the upper east coast tonight?
So did the Blazers win?
Boy I sure shut down the thread…….
jen (the bride) was at the game tonight – her work got tix for everyone at work (but no spouses)
houston won 108 to 81 :(
Better question: Do we want to?
Hey Suz, Newton, Sunny, Katy and everyone.
bullshit
I am still working on getting a demonstration together in Sac against torture.
Hey Margot. How’s OHIO tonight?
in conjunction with the d convention next week?
I wonder if more people will read that book Chavez gave Obama than the number of people who went tea bagging?
Not sure yet. John of Sac and I are meeting on Monday. As soon as there is some kind of concrete plan I will let you guys know.
What book?
((((((girl))))))), we are so glad to see you on the thread and to hear what is actually happening with you. really, the more you share, the more my heart and my prayers go out to you.
I hear there will be another tea bag protest in july? I wonder if that Baldwin Brother on the TV show 30 Rock will update his “Sweaty Balls” Saturday Nite Live Skit to have some Tea Bag References about Sweaty Balls?
It’s warm, really lovely…and then the weatherman warned us to expect rain and cold weather tomorrow afternoon.
How’s California?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/produ…..d_i=507846
Its Amazon Rank has gone up ever since the Mention yesterday?
High pressure going on here and it could be weeks before we get rain
No skit tonight….. reruns
Freezing!
58 and steady.
jen and mike came to visit today – and brought the newest addition to their family to meet her grandma. pictures at my place.
hey things
hey gw – didja see this at lafiga – texas is for sale on ebay
Amazon.com Sales Rank: #7 in Books I think it was 54,000 in the ranks before this.
Hi Suz!
(((Katymine)))
hey kirk
I’m sick of winning the cold weather competitions.
34F right now.
With flooding
Hey, Digg this toon here!
Maybe before the July tea bag protest if the GOP is still calling their protest that. Which would be a boon to Snark Writers everywhere the GOP is famos for never admitting they made a mistake so there is hope the tea bagging will continue.
this has been an amazing thing, once I was pushed into the Mayo whirlwind it has one event after another, the only day off Elmore and I have had has been Wednesday the 8th. And then my surgery. Finally I have a break for a couple of days and then off to the races again…… after the 28th….. then it is back to routine…
thanks for opening the digg newton
they had better be amazing katy – you deserve nothing less
hey fern
Hey Suz. Haven’t been around these parts of late.
hahahahaha
no i hadn’t seen it. it really is on ebay. too bad the bidding’s up beyond my price range.
all my short-lived fantasies gone to waste:
closing down the nuclear power plant in south texas. not allowing any other states to ship their radioactive and other garbage to west texas. no more “clean” coal burning. no more perry as governor. if he comes with the state, he’ll get to announce no more capital punishment in texas and if he refuses, it won’t go at all well for him.
glad you are visiting tonight fern
love the question about shipping
Great loads of warm hugs and ongoing wishes for tumor shrinkage and return to health to you, katymine. I look for posts from you all the time and send you strength. Now, wrap your arms around yourself and give yourself the hug I wish I could give you in person.
i’m so glad they are moving quickly. the sooner they work their magic, the sooner you’ll be well again.
how bad is the flooding fern? are you in the path of the flood?
They are shipping Nuclear Waste to West Texas? Low Level medical X ray radiation stuff or straight from a Nuclear Reactor stuff?
hey skeptic
i liked the answer:
“A question was posed by a potential buyer: Can Texas be moved?
Answer: Yes, Shipping is extra but please consult your local zoologist and botanist in the geographic zone you wish to move Texas to as many of her plants and animals do not do well outside their native climate range. In other words, there are no refunds on dead cactus and prairie dogs.”
Most of the city is fine because of the floodway, but some sections are in considerable danger. Most towns in the south of the province have ring dikes and a lot of work was done after the ‘97 flood to protect smaller communities – but individual homes in the valley are at risk, and north of the city there is not a lot of protection.
Things were looking good, but we had a heavy late snow, followed by a fast melt and a couple days of rain. On top of what Grand Forks etc. had to send us!
“shipping is extra”
Don’t know why, but that just made me laugh!
“low level” and the trains do not need to have identifying marks on them so if anything happens en route, nobody’d the f*ck know what the cargo was and nobody would know in advance when or where the route was.
so you are ok and not at risk?
I’m personally fine.
Colorado must have gotten your same storm. They (Denver? can’t remember) got 4 feet this past week, I hear.
We have very boring floods.
There was a bad one in 1997. I remember seeing CNN and who all else at the Forks, waiting for something to happen. Never did. Water inches up and spreads out, then inches down. Boring.
whew
Ours was a little earlier – 10 days or so ago.
Four feet? now that would be depressing in April.

Bush’s legacy takes another hit if adding stem cells can fix an eye what about a liver, kidney or heart? Banning Stem Cell research will not look good in the history books.
After all the need for organ transplants could be radically reduced just add some stem cells to an organ that has gone bad and then watch them fix it.
Bush just gave up America’s lead in this high tech field!
just watched the cartoon, that is one smart bunny.
there were 8 of us here for a potluck dinner tonight. it was 77 degrees when people started arriving at 6:15pm. we all decided to eat on the back patio even tho the only table out there is a small coffee table.
as soon as we all sat down and got settled in, a bunny rabbit appeared. then a group of deer with some of their young’uns. (my house backs up to a very large greenbelt with a creek way down into the greenbelt).
we had so much fun. really enjoying each other’s company and the food was really delicious. i’d made a black bean soup and a turkish couple came and brought a couple of delicious and exotic turkish dishes. i’m in a nice glow from it all and i even finished cleaning up the kitchen before tuning into to fdl.
And of course nobody will be told if there is a train wreck that a train full of low level radiation just derailed and contaminated a town.
It is just amazing how world has changed….. thankfully the science was developed and researched outside the US. But then, who knows…… they might be US scientist who were researching this for the UK
that sounds wonderful gw
bugs is one of my fav toons – i love his wise ass attitude and that he don’t take shit from anyone
true! not a good idea and not playing nice or fair either, but true!
witness them telling new yorkers after 9-11 that the air was perfectly safe to breathe.
wow! that’s impressive! thanks for sharing it.
Dugg!
(((Katymine))) Wishing you the very best! Boy are you strong!
Dublin!
Was token really jealous?
What category of cuteness is Dublin?
hey nahant – was wondering if you were still at your bbq
i wasn’t on the threads today very much. did nahant get the call?
The issue is that even if we knew, the train wreck would not be reported…. in this meager news coverage and canned regional coverage does not help.
speaking of the devil…..
Hi Suz. Judging by his latest photo, Token has absolutely no reason for jealousy of anyone’s ‘cuteness.’ He’s a cutie from the git-go.
oh yeah, he was doing his stealth growl (the one ya gotta be real close to hear)
she’s pretty forking cute teddy – she’s the cutest boston terrier i’ve seen – she’s smaller than token is but that will change – she’s only a baby.
how do i see the photos?
What call?
token is the cutest dog in the world (9 lb category)
i don’t think he’s seen a dog smaller than him before and got all upset about my cooing and calling her baby
click on my name and it will take ya to my place
We also have house guests and we got home just in time to let them in. It was a great BBQ met some new people and saw some old friends(:>)) Mary always puts a great spread out, she is a great cook!
Nah not yet, thanks for asking GW(:>))
Dublin is definitely a cutie Suz!!
Wow! Just finished watching Grey Gardens a biopic about cousins of Jackie Bouvier Kennedy. Jessica Lange and Drew Barrymore.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/mover…..d_ts_b_mte
Ok I was wrong the book was even lower in the Amazon Rankings than I thought.
hey christine e
wow
Transplant call Katy! Waiting on a Liver I am 1st on the Stanford list and 6th on the regional list. So things could happen any time now. But I do wish it is sooner rather than later as we want to go back to the Boston area for two wedding at the end of August.
thanks nahant
Hi Suzanne!
ya don’t sound as tired christine e – how’s your dad?
I keep forgetting that…… Yes sooner than later
what wonderful photos. what a great view you have. hah! i remember living in oregon – there was absolutely no fooling around when the sun came out – you just got out there fast before it went away again. is that your daughter and her husband?
Oh shoot I forgot all about that, and I wanted to watch it. Grr!
And I should be at this hour. My Dad had 8 units of blood and others of plasma. I saw the color photos of his TWO ulcers. He actually, looks great at 87.
you’re welcome. you’re on my mind and in my heart a lot. here’s to the gods blessing you with a new liver soon.
i certainly do appreciate the sun when it shines up here gw – but i also like the rain and the storms.
yes, that’s jen (my oldest) and mike – their one year anniversary is coming up end of may
dang – two? glad he is home and that you are also.
It was good. Made me want to know more about them. And I want to see the documentary on them.
fingers and toes crossed for ya nahant – the waiting would drive me nuts – i don’t wait well.
Heading off to bed…… way past my bedtime …. good night everyone……
just keep praying, laughing, dancing, and loving…… we all need that….
omg. is it that long already? i remember when we were laughing about what your wedding dress of the rebellion was going to look like.
what channel was it on?
g’nite katy – you are in my prayers every day and i still think die forkers die many many times each day
g’nite katymine, sleep well.
Nahant, hugs to you as well. I’m glad it’s not I doing the waiting; and I’m also so glad it’s almost over for you.
A very intensive visit with both old sets of parents. After my brother and I read them the riot act, Mr.CE and I left after 4 days and headed to OH. We stopped off at Gettysburg. New museum. Miss my parents already. May be a last time. Thanks, Suz.
Your Welcome I think long term history will find some very different mistakes Bush made than the ones we are concerned about now.
Losing an edge in high tech medicine because of religious concerns is likely to be one.
Especially once the new stem cell research starts helping Religious leaders live longer I then expect the various churches to change their minds on stem cell research.
I do pity any historian who tries to list all the mistakes Bush made in 8 years let alone try and rank their short and long term damage. Experts in Medicine, (Stem Cells, National Health Care,)
The Economy ( bank bailout, airline bailout we still have not got paid for that yet have we? the failure of deregulation, the end of Chicago School economics).
War the likely consequences of letting Ossama go just so we could invade Iraq. The likelyhood that since Ossama is alive he will attack again Thanks Bush! for letting Ossama live.
Green house effect, Workers rights, lower living standards, No Child Left Behind.
Is there not one area Bush has not failed at Ruling America!
Experts in all the above mentioned fields will be debating the Bush presidency for decades if you can learn more from examining failure than success then studying why Bush failed will be a great learning opportunity.
my mom is getting ready for a trip to see her mom – grandma is in her 90’s and declining. each time mom talks to her on the phone she worries that it will be the last time.
Thank you again GW(:>))
lining his own pockets and those of his friends and being an ignorant arrogant asshole are about the only things i think he was successful at.
I’m not sure if its an indication of Chavez’s popularity in this country or Obama’s probably both.
Night Katy you ARE in my thoughts and prayers.
both my parents are gone now, but i remember what it was like each time i left not knowing if i’d see them again. it’s not easy. see them as much as you can. you’ll be glad you did.
why’d you have to read them the riot act?
I hope you and Katy will be all right (hands on screen praying)
Why thank you Skeptic!
Good night Pups,
I’m actually going to sleep in late and garden for the whole afternoon. See you after Late Night!
g’nite christine e
Thanks TCU my odds look good 90% survival rates for the transplant and after 10 years still at 80%!! So I have a good outlook for the future so I can watch the Grand Kids grow up!
g’nite ce
I expect Lynn Cheney to start complaining about how
makes America look bad and how Americans should be taught history that makes Americans proud like General Custer was a hero instead of an Idiot and that kids should learn all the good Bush and her husband did in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Teaching kids about America’s mistakes teaches kids to not be respectful of Authority and leads to Questions.
Questioning Authority and learning from our mistakes some LEFTIES would say is what makes America great:)
Hopefully they will have a stem cell cure soon!
Crap, I missed Katymine.
I was going to give her a hug and a pat on the back.
Tell her I said Howdy.
G’thud, I have a ton of shit to do tomorrow.
g’thud busted
Not sure that would help because the cause of the cancer is a gene deficiency which in my case comes from the liver??
wow – marcy’s waterboarded 183 times in one month post has a screaming headline over at huffpost – when ya click on the headline, it takes ya to her ew post
UN torture investigator: Obama has broken International law
The United Nation’s top torture investigator has suggested it is illegal under International law for President Barack Obama to announce that the United States government has no intention of prosecuting low-level CIA officers who carried out torture sanctioned by the Bush Administration.
BO is fucking himself if he doesn’t prosecute everyone who was involved in torture!! Hope he changes his tune!
I’m one of those who think that shrubco’s depradations contributed to and are part of a wider pattern of failures that have, probably permanently, diminshed American stature, relevance and, yes, global supremacy. I don’t usually agree with Chalmers Johnson, but I think his core argument about America’s three great problems is probably not that far off the mark: 1) economic inflexibility – an overriding, messianic commitment to market fundamentalism that is probably unreformable, complicated by the seemingly unbreakable power of a few banks and corporations, 2) military overextension, and not just because of our two wars – 720 bases and world spanning military assets, and the military-industrial complex that goes with them, and 3) structural inability to introduce needed political reforms – a hoplelessly divided political culture, entrenched institutions, dogmatism and an increasingly unaccountable and opaque government – the seeming inability of our leaders to investigate and punish blatant lawbreaking under shrub is a case in point. All of these areas got much worse under shrub…. and much harder to fix.
It must be noted that the book news hit on a weekend in other words a slow news time, Bush used to bury bad stories by releasing them on the weekend.
Imagine what book sales would be if this story had happened during the week.
I think the News Media picked up on this story as a gossip piece like the Obama gave the Queen of England an Ipod story. The News Media were not expecting to create a Best Seller.
I expect the GOP to say that George Soros bought a Million copies. But why would Soros promote an older book already in paperback when there are newer books out there that could be expected to bounce more with some hype?
The fact an older book by a Hispanic has bounced this much off of a news article is interesting this shows just how much America is paying attention to Obama and the issues.
Even such normally boring issues as South America.
HopeOver, HopeLash, HopeBreak: A Lexicon of Disappointment
Naomi Klein
All is not well in Obamafanland. It’s not clear exactly what accounts for the change of mood. Maybe it was the rancid smell emanating from Treasury’s latest bank bailout. Or the news that the president’s chief economic adviser, Larry Summers, earned millions from the very Wall Street banks and hedge funds he is protecting from reregulation now. Or perhaps it began earlier, with Obama’s silence during Israel’s Gaza attack.
Whatever the last straw, a growing number of Obama enthusiasts are starting to entertain the possibility that their man is not, in fact, going to save the world if we all just hope really hard.
This is a good thing. If the superfan culture that brought Obama to power is going to transform itself into an independent political movement, one fierce enough to produce programs capable of meeting the current crises, we are all going to have to stop hoping and start demanding.
seems we aren’t the only ones doubting BO!
hey blub
hello
Maybe a virus to infect your liver with the needed gene might work?
Science is advancing stuff like this is not Sci Fi its what could happen if we America gets serious about Medical Research.
how’s your corner of the planet tonight?
I’m ok with a truth commission the low level guys confess everything and squeal on the higher ups like Bush in the process in exchange for immunity.
If we find out you didn’t talk about everything then you get prosecuted for everything you confessed to and the stuff you didn’t confess too.
But I want that information used to Prosecute Bush and Cheney. I want charges and if there is no prosecution under Obama then we should push to Prosecute Obama for covering up these crimes by not investigating them.
That is a very good list of the underlying causes of many of the failure’s of the Bush Presidency.
Time will tell what his greatest failure’s were.
I agree with you TCU that those at the top must be prosecuted, but those who actually did the torturing must also be prosecuted, they did the actual dirty work and saying I followed orders is not a defense even if Bush said it wasn’t a crime. The US already made that very clear after WWII! If they did the crime they must be held accountable for their actions
I’m think Lynn Cheney, Darth and Bush read 1984 and thought what a great way to rule America and the world.
I’m thinking they read Lord of the Flies and thought that is how corporations should be regulated.
Just being alive is the worst for me! If ge wasn’t we wouldn’t be in the freaking mess we are in now!
I don’t think I really have a corner :)
*laughing*
valid point blub
WHAT? going to read.
I want the same thing but thinking practically would it not speed up the prosecution of Bush and Cheney if we had the low level guys giving testimony about the torture they committed on C-Span to the whole world?
By doing this we take the GOP talking point of Obama is attacking the troops, the CIA grunts etc off the table.
Also we can build public support for a prosecution of Bush and Cheney by televising the truth commission testimony and cripple the GOP in the next election.
Right now I bet Obama is scrambling to find evidence that Cheney didn’t burn.
I will give you this though the Practical is not always moral.
America does have a choice to make. I wonder how America will choose?
my point is that these issues are much bigger than shrub himself. shrub made things worse, much worse, quickly, but the underlying problems are not of his making. He didn’t found AIG, create the most expensive military ever, and he merely further overextended an already sclerotic, entrenched, hereditary (!) and corrupt political culture – in fact he himself may be said to be a product of that culture. He just made things worse, and moreover he made Americans comfortable with a type of simultaneously militarized and market authoritarianism and dependence on propaganda and jingoism that I don’t have any
confidence Obama will be able undo. Altogether scary.
Time to hit the hay! Nite Pups!
nite nahant, sleep well.
g’nite nahant – fingers and toes crossed your phone rings – and really forking soon
When as an FDL post been the front page story at the Huff Post before?
I’m glad the Torture issue is of such interest though this news makes me think that America can afford to be moral instead of just practical.
Morals are luxuries that often cause the rich and powerful weep to weep over what they cannot have.
Nite Nahant very good talk :)
i don’t know things – but it sure explains the spike in traffic tonight
marcy has been kicking ass on these torture memos. i’ve tried to read the memos but they make me as sick to my stomach as reading an autopsy report on a murdered child.
Product of that Culture or their Highest achievement? The Reverse Darwinism Nietzschean Superman?
Great as well as stupid men stand on the shoulders of those who came before them. Bush didn’t found AIG but he did help continue the stupid trajectory of every stupid idea he found and made them go faster to ruin.
I have only read the stuff in the online posts I am putting off reading the memos too.
time for me to head out pups. i’m need to get in some quality cuddle time with token – i think he is still mad at me for going ga-ga over dublin.
thanks for hanging out with me tonight pups.
Telling statement I wonder how the Bush Legacy Project guys must be reacting? Let alone Bush’s anti torture lawyers. I’m sure he has already hired a very well experienced team of lawyers only the best anti torture Lawyers for Bush.
I wonder if the Obama/Chavez book story is piggy backing off so many people looking for anti Torture news on a slow weekend news day?
We maybe seeing a grass roots movement grow right below our feet as we watch!
Nite Suz I’m out to:)
I also think that we haven’t manage to dispell the neocon nonsense on which many of shrub’s worse ideas were based. Nobody’s repudiated the historical fatalism of Samuel Huntington, and Kaplan still commands a national audience… the people whose theories of zero-sum beggar-thy-neighbor racial triumphalism plunged us into this nightmare to begin with. The thugs are still waiting in the wings.
Agreed we still have a lot of work to do and it may already be to late.
Still we will try!
268 diggs for Marcy since you posted that comment Suz at 12:09 its now 1:31
Nite folks for real
Hello, I must be going.
370 diggs over night for Marcy I’m out too..again.
Good morning. Anyone up?
