The judges, the staging, everything around the production of the show — yes. Absolute crap. Those judges knew exactly what was coming and their hokey responses put their truly terrible acting skills on display.

I had wondered about that. I mean how are the contestants chosen before showing up. someone had to know.

But you can’t change the fact that the lady got her shot on the world stage, and with a voice like that, there’s no doubt it was her dream. And she delivered.

There you go. I don’t know if the whole audience (and we) were manipulated, but it remains that this poor woman still had a hard life, did take care of her mother, and did come up with the courage to take us all on. That. is. something.

Perhaps we should play her video for the detainees and they would devolve into bowls of jello and tell all their secrets??? It could work.

I saw that vid a couple days ago, two minutes into the song, i was blowing snot bubbles.

And really, even if Simon et al knew in advance of her quality, that little bit of stage-management doesn’t compare to the weeks and weeks of foofaraw and tens of millions spent by Fox and the teabaggers for far less effect.
