There will be no tea-bagging going on near the empty, shell offices of corporations in the Cayman Islands today.

From the WSJ article:

So who’s behind the Tax Day tea parties? Ordinary folks who are using the power of the Internet to organize.

I actually was under the obviously mistaken impression that only their editorial page was in the tank for the reichwing. Looks like the news side is also. Ordinary folks my a$$.

There’s another WSJ article out this morning on the Bush torture memos. I did a post about it this morning on my blog.

Mr. President, Don’t Let Former Bush Officials “Take You For a Buggy Ride”

Sorry for the shameless promotion but it’s a new blog and I need visitors. LOL

I think this is prolly the first thing by Reynolds I’ve actually read, although the first couple paragraphs were enough. What a crock. This clown really does live in an evil parallel universe.

It’s fine if they show up, if they agree with the nonsense. But casting it as grass roots “just folks” is dishonest.

here, they are pl;anning a series of 10 teabagging days. i think that’s a national thing. grassroots, of course. all these people just happened to schedule additional rallies on additional days-all the same, by coincidence. i doubt these “regular people” are going to be up for 10 protests in a year. and many of them are likely to get pissed off with being inundated with e-mails about this shit.

If there is anyone in this country who isn’t aware that fox is the propoganda wing of the gop, today should disabuse them of that notion.

I’m in the SW end of the state for a few days and saw some signs up in store windows yesterday about the local tea party which will be held in front of the old courthouse. Think I might just mosey through town and have a look-see for how many local crazies turn out. I also plan to make a mental note of the stores with the signs……they’ll not be seeing any of my business in the future. Not a very democratic attitude on my part? Naaaaaaah. *G*

I have to admit, accept for the blogs and a very few braodcasters, their tea bagging marketing scheme was very well concieved and executed

today, on cbs radio, and obviously without a ballanced point from the other side, they interviewed “tea baggers” who were doint the “we don’t want to spend our kids money, we are in a crisis, now is not the time to expand government”

pretty darned effective for someone who is not getting the other side of the story

It would have been a nice movement for us when bush gave all our money to the wealthy and when reagan did the same

then again we had plenty of actual grass roots movements that didn’t get coverage at all, and those that were covered were hardly a snip on a broadcast

Competition? Among themselves. The bad, nasty stimulus prk is the only reason this state is comming anywhere close to having an education budget. So lemme get this right. Keeping schools open and teachers employed is unconscionable generational theft and bad for our kids. lemme think about that again. Maybe one of the teabaggers can explain it to me later.

i completely agree that this is not a grassroots organized event. actually wasn’t really disagreeing with you – just trying to draw the distinction between the people who are promoting it and the people who might attend because i think it’s potentially an important distinction that is sometimes overlooked (not saying by you).

in the run up to the iraq war, i attended lots of ANSWER organized protests. even was the local point person organizing transportation to DC for one of them, although i’m no fan of ANSWER and disagree with many of their positions (and from everything i’ve heard, their style of organizing).

i actually think most of the people who showed up in DC at those big rallies weren’t very fond of ANSWER. but they were doing the organizing for DC protests when no one else was.

in the same way, i’d think that people who are legitimately pissed off about the economic situation and seeing their tax money being given away to the banksters might decide attend in some numbers to a protest organized by people who call themselves conservative when it is a democratic administration which is stealing their money to give to the banksters.

all around a potentially dangerous dynamic that i hope goes nowhere.

The teabag astro-inturfment is a not very well disguised war cry. The hate stoked by the crude Palin/McCain machine during the latter half of 2008 is being stoked further by the moneybags who didn’t vote for Obama. The militias are coming out of the closet, every single flaming queen among them. I say, they should wage less war, more teabagging.

bush’s poll numbers were higher when i showed up at my first anti-war event (i was middled aged and never thought i’d ever do any such thing – how times have changed *g*).

the reason i’m not taking this lightly is that people DO have something to be pissed off about. 30 years of stagnant wages (of course no one has told them why that might be other than overspending Ds) and now a D president is giving away massive amounts of money to the banksters

hell, it pisses me off too.

although, i have a different analysis than the one the right wing idiots on the tube are giving.

Morning all – I would like to find out if there is a ‘tea party’ event near me, so I could take a camera and write some observations. I followed a link from FDL yesterday, it took me to Freedomwatch, but they wanted a name, email, etc to be filled out before they would provide any further info on locations. I’m not giving those assholes any personal information.

Does anyone know how to find the locations of these parties without having to give out personal information? Thanks.

I’m surprised BT didn’t mention Rick Perry, the manikin we use as a governor, trying to play Jeff Davis or Gen. P.G.T. Beuregard. All the dip had to do was turn down the stimulus in it’s entirity and then run for reelection. Instead, the governor of the state which plagued the nation with Tom Delay, George W. Bush, Dick Armey, and Phil Gramm railed against the federal government imposing on the rights of Texans. Once again, I’m embarrassed and ashamed. Daily KOS has the clip.
