Morning all; Congratulations Sen Franken Sure hope the courts make Coleman post a bond for the costs incurred to date.
Romer on the TV. Someone reported that Geithner had alot of speed training for appearing on tv; send the trainer to Romer, please.
The comments to the Atlantic piece told me all I needed to know. Stay clueless AstroTurfers, it’s safer for your little pea brains.
Starhawk has a great little piece in WaPo. Time to Apologize to Witches.
Hmmm, I don’t know about any bond being posted, but I do know that I was called yesterday, being asked to contribute to a legal fund for Franken. They are expecting that Coleman will fight this all the way to the US Supreme Court.
As I understand their laws in MN, if someone challenges the results from the recount and loses they are responsible for all the costs. At this point, since Coleman lost, the court can make him post a bond in the amount already expended.
The inquiry, which is examining the activities of a number of investment companies, focuses on what has been a widespread practice among hedge funds and private equity firms — paying so-called placement agents to gain business managing the pension funds run by states for public employees. Such payments often raise questions about conflicts of interest and concerns that they lead placement agents to bribe public officials.
The Carlyle Group, which over the years has employed George H. W. Bush and the former British prime minister John Major, is among the most prominent of the firms under scrutiny, and manages $1.5 billion of the state’s pension assets. Carlyle’s efforts to gain pension business in other states have drawn criticism before, but company officials have never been charged with any wrongdoing.

Mornin’ All,
go ahead on then . . . Scalia’s Nightmare
billmon:
If that’s the case, I’m wondering why I was called in California. I hope there’s not some kind of scam going on with this.
IMHO, the right-wing corporatists will be more than happy to fund such a bond. It worth a lot to them to have one fewer Democrat in the Senate, given that the Dems are so close to the 60-vote threshold.
Think of it this way: one fewer dem is as good as one more republican, when it comes time to count the votes. How much do the Republicans spent per Senate election? Whatever the cost of keeping Franken tied up in court and out of the Senate will be small potatoes to these guys.
Hiya, Cbl!
Good morning all.
Is SD still here? Are you going to say it, or may I?
No war, but class war.
Franken’s campaign would not have access to the money until the appeal is done. By posting the bond the Coleman group would be assuring the courts that the money would be forthcoming when the case is finally lost.
I want you to not only say it I would like you to practice it. *g*
No war but class war.
I also saw that sort of request on the internet…it was pretty straightforward about wanting to be clear that Franken has whatever funds are needed. The opinion itself rewarded costs to Franken. But I guess that payments can be slow. The explanation I saw looked very reasonable…but what do I know? In this case, any Franken show of power & clout is fine with me.
But once the case is over if the bond is not there these guys with the deep pockets will be nowhere to be found. See their record on paying their bills from the RNC convention.
I would imagine they’re fundraising all over the country.
Yep…and a pretty good way to focus Republican lack of fairness/integrity/goood sense. Something to make the most of at this point…and coverage has it that the folks of MN are ready for this to be over and have a new Senator. Like the Bush/Gore tragedy….Republicans are deep pockets and sore losers. Here in TX it will be interesting to hear what pretty boy Cornyn has to say, if he continues to interject himself.
Power to the Franken, right on!
(I just felt badly that I have no moola to contribute.)
Mornin’ scooter boy -
horribly sad news
I gotta go get me some class.
And…..Where’ssssssssssss Barbara? I want to hear from her.
No, Demi…You’ve got it, dontcha know?
Yeah, where is she?
*
How are you doing, Bev?
i really don’t want any kind of war – metaphorical or otherwise. i’d rather find a win-win solution, even with a corrupt and greedy elite.
however, even though i may sometimes have to be dragged kicking and screaming to it, i’m coming around to the idea…
Ah, thanks!

amen rev.
Mornin’ Rev,
this little dfh loves the idea of their having to take anything from those deep pockets – they continue to trail Dems 2 to 1 in fundraising – and I could be wrong, but believe there will be more critical Senate Races for them in ‘10 than 08 – so go ahead you short sighted chuckleheads, let it ride :D
Thanks to you too, Selise.
For some strange reason though, I’m thinking of that saying, If it weren’t for bad luck, I’d have no luck at all. I guess any level of class is better than no class. Or, maybe I strive to show a kind of class that has nothing to do with pearls and fancy heels?
ding ding ding!
Pretty well, I’d say. We had a great Easter time at the hospital where I do Sunday worship. Tx weather is its usual unpredictable, such as cool this am, then high 80s later. Im still finding an occasional ginger beer, which has become my favorite treat drink, thanks to you and the lake. How is it all with you?
That’s funny…my closet is so out of date, Ive been worried that I no longer have attire for doing a funeral. That is a wardrobe malfunction.
Somehow, “No struggle but class struggle” just doesn’t do it for me. *g*
If you boycott retail chains, buy mostly organic food, boycott companies, e.g. Coca Cola, that have harmed the environment or other living things, attend and ask pointed, focused questions at candidate forums or other events where candidates attend, write LOE and to your congressmorons or any number of other actions (like being active on foul mouthed, dfh feminist blogs) then I’d have to say you’re a classy class warrior, like it or not.
Off to swim in the great no class capitalist cesspool.
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
Namaste
I’m doing alright. I want to find more balance in my emotional life. I’m usually kinda up or down. Going to get some yard work in today. I always enjoy that.
As to wardrobe, I keep a pair of black slacks and a black jacket that I can wear anywhere, any time. Class it up or down with the kind of top you wear. Ha!
Stay classy, babe, and have a great day.
That works if you can always fit in the same outfit. Me-I am ever expanding these days.
