Take Sarah Palin. Or don’t. Here is Red State with the thesis, apparently seriously advanced, that the Left is trying to discredit her because we fear that she if she is not Taken Out she will win in 2012 in a walk. This idea comes from a site called "Intellectual Conservative," which is a place with which I myself have already fallen quite deeply in Love. And so will you. Here. Enjoy.
Why all the attention to the Palins in far-off Alaska? Glad you asked.
Elements of an elitist, leftist, mostly Eastern-based MSM fear and loathe Governor Sarah Palin — all 5′ 7," 125 pounds of her traditional values, anathema to them. She threatens their collectivist goals, shared by most serious liberal Dems, of more and more dependency on Big Government, dreams of controlling folks, of stopping drilling for oil somewhere (read, ANWR) of snaring still more taxes from "the wealthy" to "spread the wealth" possibly to the undeserving and/or the unworthy.
Their primary fear, I think, lies in Sarah Palin’s possible ascension someday to be the POTUS. Scariest of all to her legion of irreligious media enemies, she is actually liked by most ordinary people, carrying a 60%-plus approval rating in Alaska. It’s a percentage many a politician would die for.
Palin’s all-American outlook (and her envied good looks?), her Reaganesque exuberance, natural optimism, her humble Idaho beginnings, her love for the USA and true family values, only stoke the raving fires of madness of the heavy-breathing, Amerika-blaming hard Left.
So their media efforts to put down this extraordinary woman continue today, and perhaps ad infinitum, based on an irrational fear that someday Sarah Palin might just be President of the United States. Therefore expect the attacks, the attention on her and even her family, to continue, at least through 2012. Beyond?
What actually makes me afraid is that stuff like this makes what I do, insult comedy blogging, superfluous. Look, our Intellectual Conservative just wrote this sentence : "So their media efforts to put down this extraordinary woman continue today, and perhaps ad infinitum, based on an irrational fear that someday Sarah Palin might just be President of the United States." And I agree! Worrying that Sarah Palin will ever become President of the United States would indeed be extraordinarily irrational.
On a similar note, our conservative friends are more than welcome to believe that they are very very frightening, thunderbolts and lightning. Because, well… look at the slogan the "Dontgo" Movement has adopted for their Tea-Bagging:
SILENT MAJORITY: NO MORE
Oddly enough, this is true. The majority has spoken. It is not silent. And hard-right "conservatives" do not belong to it.
Which I probably shouldn’t point out to them. Not that it matters, though. These are people still trying to pull on their underpants by first yanking it over their heads.

I do not find Sarah Palin good-looking.
To me, she looks like a stark raving wingnut out of control.
No appeal there at all.
I think it’s that crazed look in her eye that does it…
Take my governor — please!

Howdy Thers! Good evening firepups.
MAG ni fi CO O O
The final image in the post of underpants-putting over the head was inspired by our 3-Year-Old, who is trying very hard to master such skills as dressing oneself.
Of course, he is three. Right wing bloggers have no such excuse. Also, the are not cute.
The past week or so I’ve read that Obama wants to take away their guns,
will put them in FEMA camps, wants the U.S. under Sharia Law, windfall
profit taxes on 401K accounts by Nancy Pelosi …
Where are these ideas coming from?
Good evening Pups.
For thou art with me,
Thy snark and thy laugh, they comfort me. . .

evening, Betsy
I don’t think “intellectual” means what he thinks it does.
It really is rather difficult to run away scared when you are rolling on the ground, shaking with hysterical laughter.
How are ya neuro?
THere are nuts overseas too: Vatican blocks Caroline Kennedy appointment as US ambassador
more like anti-intellectual
but they could not admit that, even to themselves
good. and you?
Hee hee. Thought you’d like it…
if a kennedy ain’t catholic enough for em, then the ambassadorship should be left unfilled – for the duration.
Not bad, but my brain’s been spinning a lot in the last 10 days.
Could offer them an actual atheist pro-choice NOW member as an alternative.
No doubt.
one who is a partner in a same-sex marriage?
I can’t see how the Vatican wins on a Kennedy snub.
I wonder how this is going to play in Ireland, actually.
“A very strange phenomenon: our friends on the right seem to believe that The Left is afraid, desperately so, of their Tea-Bag parties, their Alaskan Governors, and the Truth they Represent. There is no particular reason to doubt their sincerity on this point”
Sure there is there are there any GOP anti big government Governors willing to reject all the big Government Stimulus money and stand on Principle?
The GOP needs to get their People on board first!
Otherwise just what has their protest accomplished? Besides scaring Moderate voters our way?
That is what I was thinking too. After all we don’t appoint communist ambassadors to China.
and wears prada
Even better. With adopted children as well.
Funny. The intelligent one didn’t mention Obama’s approval rating, as it is similar.
Psalm 2:4
Frankly, if they do not like the person we appoint, perhaps we should simply suspend diplomatic relations. The Vatican does not set US policy at any level or on any topic, including the appointment of ambassadors.
I nominate The Church Lady as ambassador to the Vatican.
At least, she would put Satan in his place…
Well, it will be interesting to see how it plays in America too. Maybe the Americans will be inclined to keep their money here and not send any to the Vatican. (Don’t know the rules, but what could the Vatican actually do?)
not gonna go over well is my take – perhaps they will create the church of ireland, similar to what england did when henry broke with rome and formed the church of england
hahahaha
If they go full Henry VIII on it, it will probably help the budget as well. I am sure the Catholic Church owns lots of property in Ireland that could generate money for the government right now.
Those in Philadelphia might have been very surprised at what they found once they were done:
Ooops.
No mean to offend anyone ….
Isn’t that special?
The Bush family is old Eastern Money they know that right? Sarah is the only elected GOPer we have as a nationwide target right now. Since Nobody not even Sarah seems to be leading the GOP.
I’m sorry but Sarah is bigger than Tea Bags and is more important than Rush or Glen Beck’s fake media want to be crusades.
But Sarah a threat? Katie Couric took her apart with what magazines do you read?
If your candidate can’t handle warm and fuzzy softballs from Katie umm just why do you think that we are afraid of her?
wonder how many hail marys that is gonna take?
Is it just me, or has Michael Steele disappeared from the planet?
abducted by aliens, or just told to Sit Down and Shut Up by Boss Limbaugh?
Just what was voter turnout this election compared to the last few? Where was this Silent Majority when Sarah really needed them on election day?
It’s amazing to me how all these folks drool over PALIN> I wouldn’t touch the skank with Tucker C.’s knob.
I think his brand of stupid has lost its appeal with our MSM and he certainly cannot compete with Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, et al. for full on buffoonish batshit crazy (and the accompanying ratings).
he’s hoping his latest faux pax will blow over (economy is fine because shopping malls are full and he has a hard time getting reservations at restaurants)
Give polling data on public approval of Obama and the Dems, I would say that their “majority” is hovering around 30% and has never been know for its silence.
maybe he was thinking of Yogi Berra’s observation that “nobody goes there anymore, it’s too crowded.”
The second one Rush told him to shut up, and bring him some Viagra and Dominican Boys.
in fact, they may be making the majority of the noise
the stupid noise, at least
all that noise is to hide that they have nothing to say – listen to how loud i am not what i am saying kinda deal
Think I will head out. Take care all.
30% a majority Karl’ “Math ” again? Looking at the debt Bush left us I wonder if Karl was in charge of the budget?
Why would we be scared if Sarah can carry Alaska at 60% what are her National Numbers Alaska alone will not win you the Presidency.
g’nite dr dick
Nite Dr Dick
I really have nothing against anyone who is religious: I hate hearing that stuff, actually. What matters to me is that, well, say, we get rid of poverty. We should be able to do this. So let’s do it!
It isn’t religious people who are necessarily deluded in this regard. I’m not religious myself, but it’s not religion that is providing the central barrier to America ending poverty. No, it’s other, far more dangerous and unprovable belief systems that do that.
IMHO.
Wasn’t W talkin about convertin? He’d be a nice bipartisan choice.
No cable here just how big were the tea bagging crowds did we get any independent numbers as to their size?
any teabaggers out today were suffering from premature baggery – teabag day is 4/15 – tax day
Lets compare the size of the tea bag rallies to Jon McCain’s and Sarah’s rallies and see if the GOP is getting bigger.
Then lets compare that where possible to rallies Obama had in the same states!
Sorry I should bring myself to care more about tea bags I just can’t seem to muster up the concern though.
We surround them? Yeah right wake me when its over I’m just here for the Snark.
You’ve got no argument here.
Those who believe in the Divinity of Teh Market, for instance, might have a lot of explaining to do to their followers.
G’nite, all!
g’nite peterr
He forgot to mention Obama is a Muslim who wants to take away our guns.
This whole fake movement is all about GOP anger about Higher Taxes for the rich.
The rest is just crumbs for the 20%ers. Its the Abortion, Gay Marriage issue all over again red meat to the freaks but in the end the GOP needs the 20%ers angry so they never let them get what they want.
Reagan, Bush, Bush2 and they could never get abortion outlawed despite how many Supreme Court picks its Lucy with the football telling Charlie Brown this time for sure!
But notice that taxes for the rich went down under Reagan and Bush even though they put us in debt they NEVER CUT GOVERNMENT SPENDING!
Big Government thy name is Republican.
The GOP only spends money on armies though not infrastructure to make America better.
The Intellectual Conservative.
Don’t make me do it…don’t make me break it out…The Marble Douchebag:
http://elementropy.blogspot.co…..cally.html
I laugh out loud every time.
They can refuse an ambassador’s credentials, though?
Although I’m guessing that would be almost as big a snub as declaring an accredited diplomat persona non grata.
I’d be in favor of suggesting someone really odious, then refloating CK. I’m surprised Caroline’s divorce isn’t an issue too.
oh my that is good
I miss Tac. He was such a fun playmate.
Gosh, are there any other American politicians who enjoy a 60-plus approval rating, and not simply in Alaska? I can’t think of a one, can you?
Ronald Reagan reopened the post of Ambassador to the Vatican~ which had been vacant since 1864…because the Vatican supported the Confederacy, and even sheltered a man involved with the conspiracy to assassinate Abraham Lincoln. Reagan then filled it with one of his largest contributors, a fellow by the name of William Wilson, who ran up entertainment bills far in excess to the Ambassador to Italy (who had handled both roles after 1864). Wilson ultimately had to resign after he interfered with the FBI’s investigation of the Banco Ambrosiano scandal.
In my opinion, if the Vatican doesn’t find any of our Ambassadors acceptable, let’s go back to the old system of having the Pope go to the Rome Embassy.
You do know that if Sarah was a Dem, if Sarah was Hilary the GOP would be saying right now that it was Sarah working when she should have been at home teaching her daughter morals that led to her daughter getting knocked up out of wedlock.
Me as a Lefty I wonder if her school has a sex ed program that mentions birth control.
Also what is the teen mom rate in Wassila?
But of course everything is fine if your a Republican.
But what would Reagan say about Sara he of the imaginary a black welfare mom driving a Caddy on welfare.
What would he say about an unwed teen mom who took the GOP his political party not the government on
welfare frauda clothing allowance for over $100,000 grand? As I pointed out, “Mucal invader, is there no end to your oozing?”
fuckin’ amazing !!
Let’s send James Hormel. He’s more experienced at the Ambassadoring, too.
That was one of the best.
Home of one of my favorite comments about Ticky, too:
Hmmm. Lemme see if I can find the champ…
Precisely…why fill it with a Catholic. We don’t require that Ambassadors to Saudi Arabia be Muslim, or those to Russia- Russian Orthodox. No Shintoist Ambassadors to Japan. And if the issue is that the Ambassador holds to the laws of our land, regardless of their personal beliefs, and that those beliefs have to conform with the “host country” then we would have real problems filling most Ambassadorships.
Maybe we should ask the Pope to call back his own Prelate, snce that individual doesn’t have beliefs that mesh with our laws. Not only should that Papal delegate agree with Roe vs. Wade…but also must agree that the Church should conform with the Constitutional stipulation that no “religious test” be required for public office….and that Catholic representatives must not be pressured by the Church when they represent all of their constituencies.
How about Mario Cuomo? Or Maria Shriver? Or John Kerry?
What’s that you say, Ratzi? You require a forced-birth proponent? Sorry, we can’t find a single prominent American Catholic who fits the bill.
Oh, lookee here — it’s twice-divorced but newly converted Newt Gingrich! Will he do?
precisely
would love to see this argument be used against the vatican
Once they are elected Alaskan politicians tend to have walloping public ratings, simply because they are handing out the largesse from the Alaska Permanent Fund, or capable of obtaining huge pork laden supplements. Sarah’s ratings are actually piss-poor in comparison. After his last election in 2002 Ted Stevens had an approval rating that actually reached 90%! And it was close to that up until the last year.
Best. Comment. Ever.
You have to trace it back several posting generations to get the joke, but well worth the trip.
He’s hard to locate in the debris of abandoned and not-updated Web-crap…
The Pope wants people to kneel to him this is a power play he also wants money.
Tell him give up Cardinal Law or we start seizing church assets in America.
Tell him protecting people who shielded Pedophiles is a SIN!
must be too busy playing with his light saber again
“Me as a Lefty I wonder if her school has a sex ed program that mentions birth control.”
Or communicable diseases…Bristol had Mononucleosis (which was originally why she was pulled out of school). And yet she was still sexually active enough to become pregnant?
“Tell him protecting people who shielded Pedophiles is a SIN!”
Not to mention a felony.
Of all the people I’ve squabbled with online, Josh Trevino has been the most revealing, frankly. He really taught me that when a “conservative” talks about “honor,” what they mean is “fuck you.” And so I cherish him.
what’s that guy’s name? something bolton. the perfect ambassador.
bless his little heart
I don’t want to know how you know it’s a light sabre, Suzanne.
iirc, his wedding was all star wars and he carried one as he walked down the aisle
I’m thinking of running a ratfucking protest at the NH tea-party. Standing with a sign saying that “Glenn Beck is a government plant” then announcing with a bull-horn that it is a plot to get all of the far rightwingers out in public so they can be photographed and identified as potential enemies of the state.
Sure would get a lot of them stopped in their tracks I bet.
-G
Nah, leave it to the courts to force liquidation of Church assets.
There was a piece in the Albuquerque Journal last week about The Servants of the Paraclete. They were the arm of the church that treated paedophile priests. Turns out the boss monk wrote 50 years ago to the Vatican, saying that there was no way to treat these guys, and they needed to be isolated from contact with children. He went so far as to purchase an island in the Caribbean where they could be kept away from us.
hahahahaha you will need to video that dood
You mean this dude? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_R._Bolton
Didn’t Anybody Sarah’s Doctor Bristol’s Doctor tell her that? Sarah had to know then that her daughter might be having sex unless she bought whatever lame teenager excuse Bristol probably said and then didn’t run that excuse by a doctor.
Maybe we should ask the Pope to return him to face felony charges.
yes, my fave.
Sounds like a Diary
If anyone asks why you’re taking pictures, say that you need them for the FEMA concentration camp ID cards. That should get their attention.
I think he might be running the “John Bolton School of Charm and Rendition” these days. He’d need to take a sabbatical from that.
does he still offer a minor in mustache waxing?
I tend to remember certain things very well. One of the reasons he’s not online very much anymore, perhaps.
Night, a chara.
g’nite thers
To sleep for me. I had to go waaaaay down into the depths of the tax caves tonight to dig out the 2001 tax folders and the ones going forward for the accountant. I’m finally done. But the trip down into the caves was exhausting. Lost my way many times. The torch kept blowing out. The footing was rough. Happy to be back in the light.
dugg
Not exactly. Details not worth batting about, though.
g’nite gw
For a small additional fee…
yes, he’s got such a cute personality, i’m sure the pope would just love him.
You’d have a lot easier time of that if you would instruct your accountant to use the “Timmy Geithner Tax Pro” software. Everything is deductible…unless you’re being vetted for Treasury Secretary, of course.
dang, i gotta get that software (and find where my w2’s are hidden)
the USA should inform the Vatican that we will not accept the credentials of any ambassador from the Vatican who does not certify that he or she supports the doctrine of separation of church and state that our Constitution calls for. As in, no government vouchers for parochial schools, no “faith-based” government funding, no church interference in sex education, including use of birth control. No church lobbying to restrict a woman’s right to choose. No church lobbying against same sex marriage. Come to think of it, why do we want an ambassador from a church, anyway?
lol!
How many people at these tea bag parties will be getting a tax cut from Obama? How many of these people at the tea bag parties protested Bush for all his spending?
How many want their states to turn down the stimulus money? How many want Obama to let the banks fail?
Just when, where did Obama say he was going to take away everyone’s guns?
How many people really care if the rich get taxed more especially if it means that they do not get taxed more?
cartoon upstairs
Heck with pictures. We need full fingerprinting and cheek swabs! Say it’s for Obama’s new version of Americorps.
I think that as a sovereign country the Vatican does have the authority, per customary international law, to refuse the credentials of a foreign ambassador to it for any reason or no reason at all. Of course, for them to exercise this right against an American ambassador-designate because of her stance in America’s culture wars is laughable, or outright mockable… the type of behavior that puts them on the level of other bloviating and thuggish tin pot dictatorships. One can see Chavez of Venezuela doing something like this, or Castro of Cuba, or Iran shrub of Iran, or Dear Leader of north korea, or the strongmen of the ex-Russian ’stans… not quite the company I would assume Pope Benedict would like to seen in, I would assume.
Hah! (And I’m still laughing about the John Bolton School of Charm and Rendition.)
The thing I’d most like to have her deduct is Timmy Geithner!
Look up at the satellite and smile!
-G
So you’re going for the Full Vapor Lock. I like it.
sometimes the unions here will picket nonunion construction sites with a giant blow up float rat. That
might work for a protest at a tea party.
If they ask what you’re looking at, tell ‘em the satellites replaced the black helicopters. Nice.
Oh, geez. Sorry about that. I can’t imagine having to go back to 2001. You deserve a good sleep.
I was thinking more along the lines of a black HIV-positive lesbian. Push all their buttons!
what I find most breathtaking of the wingnuts is their total disregard, disrespect, and denigration of intelligence; that what they worship most is intellectual pygmyism. palin is the poster child, as was bush and reagan before.
“Intellectual Conservative” – couldn’t possibly be a more moronic oxymoron.
