Are we calculating how many seats the nutjobs in the Party of No will lose in 2010 yet? Bill Young (R-FL10) may not be a nutjob but after 38 years in the House it’s time for some fresh air.

Talkin’ to meself, here. Guess I’ll go make coffee for work.
Morning SD, Trying to gather my wits about me – real groggy this AM.
Yesterday our single payer HC bill was in the house for its second reading and it passed. Yea
Make sure you all go over to EW’s and digg. She did a beautiful thing to Chase.
This, I love:
That means that nearly a third of the population is of questionable sanity
I read that article and then happened over to EW’s. There was something wonderful about reading that stat and watching EW cut up her Chase card.
Something along the lines of, “Bush made this mess and it’s nice to see someone show the people how to take control on the local level.”
Re: Why are we still listening to these guys. Because VSP always recommend military action, no matter what the problem is.
I know it. But can you name one republican who is speaking like a sane person? There must be one…used to be Lincoln Chaffee…
I love the idea of folks getting together and dumping Chase. Course as I said over at EW’s, I dumped AT&T way back, and won’t get an iphone until I can use a decent network.
The centrist Rs are now Blue Dog Ds. The infiltration is gaining steam, seamingly faster than the Blue America movement.
HuffPo has reports a mighty interestin’ feud goin’ on between that redneck warmonger Toby Keith and actor Ethan Hawke. Hawke may be on the fightin’ side of Toby. It seems Hawke wrote a story for the hippie rock’n’roll magazine Rolling Stone. Kris Kristofferson was told by Toby what to say at Willie Nelson’s 70th birthday party.
cnbc reports that the PPIP auction is being postponed for lack of interest.
India’s youth are turning political over the Mumbai attacks.
Yup. I woke up this morning pissed at Blanch Lincoln and her Walmartness. She has joined the Plantation Caucus. If Walmart could still have slaves, they would.
My one-liner on Wal-Mart is that people who work there can’t afford to shop there. Nice section in Nickled and Dimed on Ehrenreich’s job at Wal-Mart. Rules at places that pay low wages are pretty restrictive, like can’t go to the bathroom except on official breaks, and some give breaks only for one meal.
Quasi Sen Burris has announced his oppostion to EFCA this AM
What a great morning…The MN story talking about Coleman keeping on (ruling probably today); Cornyn helping him/wanting Coleman to keep the case alive. We can look for Cornyn on the medical abuses, as well. All I can say…is thanks for the view of the W Librarium. Guess they don’t need any books.
I heard that. What is he thinking? Does he have so much corp support that he doesn’t need the unions?
or that the unions will support the Ds no matter what the Ds do.
What goes on in that man’s head is a mystery to me – you can call it thinking if you wish. *g*
I thought the GOTV effort for Ds was still dependent on union orgs. So while Ds might have to endorse the D no matter what, their contributions and GOTV efforts would be less than enthused for someone who doesn’t support unions. Or is that not correct?
Pretty interesting to listen to cnbc at the beginning of earnings season. They seem to think corps can cost-cut to prosperity. Lotsa cheerleading for cost cutters. That like trying to run even faster after finding you are only one foot off the cliff.
hasn’t been an issue so far and it’s been years since the national D party actually supported unions or working people.
(my guess is that there is a little bit of a disconnect between the big union bosses and the rank and file)
Union leadership has been a problem for a long time. Don’t suppose it’s getting better.
good point. i’ve only been paying attention (and only a little bit at that) this decade.
…..
if you listened to the audio that nation books event with stiglitz, there was a similar point made (by someone else) about how most union bosses were more interested in a seat at the table than in getting policy to help workers.
btw, the mp3 of that even has been posted for downloading. i might give it another listen, just for fun.
