I didn’t think it was physically possible, but over the weekend, the performance artist known as Michele Bachmann out-crazied herself.
I believe that there is a very strong chance that we will see that young people will be put into mandatory service. And the real concerns is that there are provisions for what I would call re-education camps for young people, where young people have to go and get trained in a philosophy that the government puts forward and then they have to go to work in some of these politically correct forums.
Bachmann is referring to the Serve America Act, which expands the AmeriCorps program and is co-sponsored by the closet Stalinist, Orrin Hatch.
You really have to listen to the whole segment. Bachmann ominously announces she’s "watching our freedoms slip out the door," warns that "President Obama wants to cede American sovereignty to trans-national global authorities," and once again calls for everyone to be "armed with knowledge so that they can be dangerous to the views of the Left."
But the takeaway is that we have a sitting Congresswoman telling people that the government is going to brainwash their kids in modern-day gulags.
There’s going to be a lot more Pittsburghs if this kind of talk continues, I’m afraid.

These are the people that ruined federal programs for the needy, insisting that volunteers would take up the slack. Now they don’t even want the volunteers.
Sick woman.
“… she’s “watching our freedoms slip out the door,”
..to get away from the crazy people that live in her house, and scurry across town to the bus station to try and catch the last Greyhound leaving for Sanity USA.
Yeah, that’s a problem for Bachmann. Perhaps she could try some serious deadbolts and window-bars. That’ll keep “our freedoms” locked up tight and under control, just the way she wants ‘em.
Political re-education camps wouldn’t be a bad idea. Hope he does it.
So which came first, the Bachmann or the Beck?
and she’s a fucking lawyer??????? oh shit.
At least she’s qualifying her “armed and dangerous” rhetoric somewhat. Too bad she has no grasp of actual facts which are, after all, the basis of any actual knowledge.
As for freedoms slipping out the door, WTF has she been since 9/11?
Loon. May she win the KO WPITW trifecta, and soon!

And speaking of a quickly unraveling social fabric:

what’s wrong with her neck? is she just skinny? skin seems too tight.
Rethugs are interested in nothing but causing disruption. The racist Party of No is going to follow the fear mongering and propaganda playbook of Goring and Goebbels to a T.
It’s time to identify and promote independent candidates for Congress. We don’t need any more members of the Wall Street and War Party in Congress.
Funny how she only surfaces on FOX anymore after Matthews basically laughed her off the air. palin did the same thing. Retreated to the comfort and safety of FOX.
She shouldn’t criticize the Commander in Chief in wartime.
Maybe she needs a little re-education camping her own damn self.
Here’s a peek of Bachman’s true constituency. There is still need to keep Gitmo from closing.

“Re-education” implies children had an education in the first place. Bat. Shit. Cra-zy. ;)
Has anyone that actually knows her come out with information about what might have caused this kind of behavior? She presents with some interesting symptoms.
First off, Bachmann is a kook.
Secondly, I think it’s disgraceful that you use the shooting in Pittsburgh in this article. You should be ashamed of yourself.
i wouldn’t be so worried about the bachmann’s if we had a real alternative to offer people (besides the Ds who are selling us out to the banksters).
nice crowd!
Nice bunch. About 7 or 8 teeth between them. And if you add up all the IQ’s, you might make it into the low 3 figures. I didn’t see Palin, however. She must have been the one taking the pictures?
There ya go…gettin’ all technical on us.
Irresponsible and deeply-paranoid rhetoric like Bachmann’s was culpable in Pittsburgh. The shooter was convinced Obama was going to take away his guns. Where’d he get that idea, I wonder?
I would say telling people their kids are going to be forced into government-run camps is quite a bit worse.
well she should know . . . as she has signed on as Co Sponsor to HR 1467
10-YEAR EXTENSION OF CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF THE USA PATRIOT ACT AND THE INTELLIGENCE REFORM AND TERRORISM PREVENTION ACT OF 2004.
the traitorous bastids at ACLU provide us with some lowlights:
linky
Well Ms Bachman, their armed and their dangerous, happy now are you?
p.s. you can catch more of her Legislative handi-work here
aw yes, the usual suspects: “unborn”, “property rights”, “parental rights”
The point is that this kind of talk leads directly to shootings such as the Pittsburgh shooting. And the shooting in church in Tennessee.
The facts are ugly. It is not, however, disgraceful to write them down.
Michele Bachman is making a case for the sorry state of mental health in the US
You guys think the shooter would not have gone off the hinges and done the same thing because of another issue? He had an obvious mental problem going on. It’s like me saying that FDL is responsible for anarchist protesters who are protesting issues that they write and care about as well. Just because the guy is a major nut job and is violent doesn’t mean that someone with an extreme view (like Bachmann) should not speak their mind, nor be blamed for the actions of someone commiting such a crime as the pitt shooter.
nothing makes the case better for the necessity of a strong national community service program for American youth than Fraulein Bachmann’s opposition to it.
OMG, I just came here to tell all y’all about the latest Bachmann caper. I am totally embarrassed and no small amount gobsmacked that she “represents” my state. Please remember that there are deep pockets of sanity in MN. Really. I mean it.
It’s precisely because there are armed paranoid crazies out there that people in media or leadership positions like Bachmann use mass media responsibly. Telling people their kids are going to be imprisoned in state-run brainwashing factories is not responsible.
Re the picture up top? I think the swastika armband and tinfoil hat were both photoshopped out. That’s deceptive advertising.
I’m not a professional but i thimnk she demonstrates classic signs of being an asshole.
And another thing. She is watching our freedoms slip out the door? Where the hell was she last year and the year before that? Factular degeneration? Urgh. As you can tell, Bobble-head Bachmann gets on my very last nerve.
Assuming facts not in evidence, i.e. that Bachman has a mind.
Sounds like a pretty good diagnosis to me.
still waiting for Darkblack to give her the Tanya treatment :D
And another thing. The background for the photo above is on the wall of a Senate chamber. She’s not actually standing outside the capitol. Everything about this woman is false and weird. I need to find for you an article about her that appeared in the Strib several years ago, just before she was elected and began leading people through the capitol building in prayer chains.
can omnly speak for myself but always thought MN was pretty cool- sometimes hard to follow – and that she respresented an area that happened to be disproportionately dopey.
Sustained.
pats cushion. . . come sit over here with us Texans :D
Aaaaargh!! I get your point. How do all y’all stay sane?!
mango margaritas for those of us outside of Librul Austin and learning not waste energy responding to every generalization – our progressive friends in Iowa found out all about said generalizations last week :D
some quick research into her voting record:
On important votes, she votes with Dems only 0.42% of the time making her one of the most rethuggish member of the congress.. quite a feat. Her lifetime record for wingnuttyness in votes is tied by Adrian Smith (NE-3, 0.42%) and exceeded only by Kenny Marchant (TX-24, 0.36%) and Mary Fallin (OK-5, 0.00%).
Pomegranate margaritas are my favorite.
Has anyone seen Michelle Bachmann and Glenn Beck together? I’m convinced they’re one and the same person.

fyi – believe it was David Niewert who first pointed out freepers go all victimization, all the time whenever anyone has the temerity to connect their hate to actual crimes -
“liberals want to silence dissent” “marginalize conservatives” “clinton blamed limpballs for Oklahoma City !”
so get ready
although it may prove a little more difficult soon
Michele’s jacket looks like it was made from the same fabric as Rachael Ray’s keffiyeh in the controversial Dunkin’ Donuts ad. Why does Michele Bachmann hate America?
oh .. and possibly her strangest legislative moment (besides favoring the preemptive nuclear annihilation of Iran) was when she introduced the “Light Bulb Freedom of Choice Act” to stop the use of environmentally-friendly CFL bulbs.
No, I think she’s channeling Joe McCarthy and Lucy Ricardo.
salon.com War Room:
During the 8-year Bush reign of terror, and as threatened and paranoid as we lefties felt (and rightly so), I don’t recall *any* kind of analogous outbursts of violence and mass murder as we are witnessing now.
Could it be the case that being on the right is a form of mental illness in itself?
Did you enjoy this show?

Interesting that they’re all so goddamned fat and out of shape.
Serpentine!
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (the city’s corporate-owned daily with no stated political affiliation), reporter Dennis B. Roddy wrote today, “Accused cop-killer Richard Poplawski spent hours posting racist messages on an extremist right-wing Web site, decrying blacks and Latinos and warning of forthcoming economic collapse fueled by the ‘Zionist occupation’ of America, an expert in political extremism has determined. Earlier, he had praised the ‘AK’ rifle as his ideal weapon.
…An account kept on Stormfront, a gathering place for racial extremists and others from the far-right show Mr. Poplawski’s increasing belief in a coming economic and political collapse in the days leading up to the time of the deadly standoff in which he is charged with killing three Pittsburgh police officers.
…Writing under the screen name ‘Rich P,’ which he switched sometime after March 10 to ‘Braced for Fate,’ Mr. Poplawski expounded on race, interracial mixing and the presumed power of Jews in America between Jan. 16, 2007, and last Thursday… [One post stated] ‘The federal government, mainstream media, and banking system in these United States are strongly under the influence of — if not completely controlled by — Zionist interest,’ the post declares. ‘An economic collapse of the financial system is inevitable, bringing with it some degree of civil unrest if not outright balkanization of the continental US, civil/revolutionary/racial war … This collapse is likely engineered by the elite Jewish powers that be in order to make for a power and asset grab.’ … Still another post expounded at length about his dislike of African-American, Latina and Asian women. ‘Don’t mix your blood with dirt, son,’ he posted.”
In an article published on April 5, Mr. Roddy wrote, “Richard Andrew Poplawski was a young man convinced the nation was secretly controlled by a cabal that would eradicate freedom of speech, take away his guns and use the military to enslave the citizenry.
…’He was really into politics and really into the First and Second amendment. One thing he feared was he feared the gun ban because he thought that was going to take away peoples’ right to defend themselves. He never spoke of going out to murder or to kill,’ said Edward Perkovic, who described himself as Mr. Poplawski’s lifelong best friend. Mr. Poplawski’s view of guns and personal freedom took a turn toward the fringes of American politics. With Mr. Perkovic, he appeared to share a belief that the government was controlled from unseen forces, that troops were being shipped home from the Mideast to police the citizenry here, and that Jews secretly ran the country.
‘We recently discovered that 30 states had declared sovereignty,’ said Mr. Perkovic…’One of his concerns was why were these major events in America not being reported to the public.’”
One thing I’m most interested in related to Roddy’s articles is the quality of writing in Poplawski’s Web postings. I find it somewhat hard to believe that a high school drop-out could have thought-up those ideas, let alone expressed them with such clarity, on his own. He and Perkovic were listening to someone.
She’s not funny enough, and she’s not a redhead. Joe McCarthy, maybe.
BTW, it’s Michelle Bachmann’s birthday today.
Hey! No fair! Herding everyone up and putting them in camps was OUR IDEA (re: cheney) FIRST!
Have you heard her speak? It’s inflammatory talk like hers that led the Pittsburgh shooter to think he needed to kill a few cops so Obama wouldn’t “take his guns away”.
Thank you.
Pretending that these people aren’t being egged on by “respectable” conservatives and Republicans won’t get us anything but more deaths.
Well, happy birthday, asshole.
She may be right on the edge of crying “Fire!” in a crowded theater.
I wonder what polling in her
destructdistrict might show about her rhetoric if a couple of pointed questions outlining the recent shootings and the potential connection to right wing paranoia were included?FIGHTING FOR SURVIVAL WHILE FACILITATING EXTINCTION
While some Democrats are of the opinion that President Obama is being TOO bipartisan in his accommodations to Republicans and are disappointed he isn’t playing hardball with them, I believe that his highly visible efforts to include Republicans in the policy making process is serving to illuminate REPUBLICAN OBSTRUCTIONISM and increasing the likelihood that the 2010 elections will result in a filibuster-proof Democratic Senate majority.
If it ultimately becomes necessary for Democrats to go it alone and institute policy changes with zero Republican support, the vast majority of Americans will see their actions as necessary and justified because Republicans have been deliberately trying to undermine President Obama’s efforts to fix the problems that eight years of failed Republican leadership created for Americans and America.
In addition, the self-promoting and purposefully flamboyant and offensive histrionics of radical Republican provocateurs, insulters and fabricators like Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly, Michael Savage, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Michele Malkin, Mary Matalin, Michele Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, John Boehner, Michael Steele and Eric Cantor are ALL increasingly alienating younger and working class white, black, Hispanic, female and financially disadvantaged Americans at a time when the core of the Republican Party have progressively devolved into an ignominious and impotent angry minority. Not only do today’s most vocal and visible Republicans lack a majority audience, they are literally eviscerating one another as they fight to be the biggest fish in an increasingly smaller pond.
Blue Texan is just pointing out that crazy talk in some people’s ears sounds real. Responsible discussion of policy is required instead of the kind of inflammatory ramblings of Bachman. After what happened in Pittsburg we should make sure we call out all political babblers who spread lies. The crazy lady at McCain’s town hall meeting is the perfect example of misinformation being taken too seriously. This is even more important in a day when newspapers are going out of business and people are seeking out information that matches their world view.
If the right to bear arms includes the right to bear an AK-47 and a 50mm machine gun, doesn’t that right also include the right to bear an ICBM? If so, why are the GOOPER’s against Iran, Sryia and North Korea from having nukes on ICBMs?
Where is the line in the sand for the NRA?
Michelle Bachmann would not recognize the truth if it shook hands with her. She is a product of the wing-nut society and their educational systems. She was intensly brain-washed to the point that she is certifiably insane. Her district in Minnesota should be ashamed of themselves for giving her an outlet for her ignorance, insane as it is.
Maybe, in a very strange performance artiste way, she’s making a case for health care reform which includes mental health care.
Very unusual. Heh.
Wicked funny? Or, wicked & funny? Hmmm
And the shooting itself, irony upon irony, is what forced the police to take away his guns.
