The transfer of funds to accounts at Riggs Bank in Washington, D.C., has come under scrutiny as the Justice Department continues an international corruption investigation involving British arms manufacturer BAE Systems. Freeh, who is now a lawyer and consultant for Bandar, made his comments to the Public Broadcasting Service for a “Frontline” documentary to be broadcast this evening. Bandar is now a national security advisor to the Saudi king. He has denied any wrongdoing, as have other Saudi officials.

A stolen plane was chased by fighter jets over three US states before the pilot landed on a highway in Missouri and ran away.

State government buildings were evacuated as fighter jets were scrambled to intercept the plane, stolen from a flight school in Canada on Monday.

Adam Leon, 31, was arrested after finally landing in southeast Missouri at the end of a six hour flight.

He stole the light plane from Thunder Bay airport, in Ontario at around 2.30 pm local time and entered US airspace an hour later. Two F-16 fighter jets from NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) were scrambled to ntercept him at the Michigan-Wisconsin border but he refused to respond to their commands to land, and the chase continued over Michigan, Wisconsin and Illinois before the Cessna finally touched down at Ellismore, Missouri.

But then BO or PO put her in charge of foreign policy, just to piss me off.

Since you’re likely to check back, if you’re not aware, the April issue of Southern Living has a piece on the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge which sounds like it is in your backyard. Have you ever been there?

I know where it is, but never stopped in. A long time ago about 15 miles as the crow flies from Turpentine Creek we moved into a large mountaintop home on about three hundred acres. On the second or third morning w/ all the windows open we heard a bloodcurdling … sound. A sound like nothing any of us ever heard before… stopped us all in dead our tracks. Seriously considered calling the police at one point. A few more mornings went by and the same sound happened… before we finally figured out about a mile below us was a park called dinosaur park. Evidently visitors can push a button near the larger critters for simulated call/sounds.

For the next couple of years that sound was a source of many a morning belly laughs.. I’ve often wondered if folks who move close to Turpentine Creek have similar stories… from unknown calls of the wild they hear in the night.
