since last friday i’ve been more or less sick with congestion, fever, no energy. i’m in the direction of mending, but i am sick, i tell you, sick of blowing the sticky stuff in my nose.
token is the cutest dog in the world, 9 lb category. he’s more the type to run up to burglars with his tail wagging to inform them that he will show them where i hide the good stuff.
I think that’s probably a ruse. Just when they think they’re safe BANG!! he bites their ankles. And then they die from rabies. Pretty good security system you have there.
Sorry to hear that GW. I have been lucky as they were watching mine for the last seven years. The VA is very thorough and spares no expense for checking things out. I have had two chemoembalazions to make sure the lesion didn’t grow.
It’s warm and wonderful and paradise down here….for now. Don’t know what will happen when water is rationed and so forth. and the twin boys are utterly adorable and give me hope for the future. Thanks for asking. Dearie.
We had a gorgeous day also. It felt inspiring. The garlics up and thriving, the young hens are robust, laying eggs and under the impression that I’m their rooster. Which is making me feel like a pervert when they assume the sexual-submissive crouch every time I walk up to them.!. I need a nice older rooster. Throwing caution to the wind, I’m planting lettuce and radishes tomorrow.
What’s on my mind is the national protest against the Bankster Barons. We’re going to show up in Seattle. Hope this can grow into an ” every town, every community ” event.
I’m actually thinking about buying a pitchfork instead of making a message-appropriate sign. I’m tired of making signs. A pitchfork is more useful than another goddamned message sign.

The word “defraud” in Section 371 not only reaches financial or property loss through use of a scheme or artifice to defraud but also is designed and intended to protect the integrity of the United States and its agencies, programs and policies.
The tax payers of the United States are being raped by Obama and his subordinates. And, these aren’t stupid people. It has to be a conscious conspiracy to hollow out the American economy for the this generation and the next.
These bastards should be given golden parachutes into Leavenworth, Obama included.
nahant, I just read through the comments… ..what an incredible person you are to be going through all that SHIT and all the while being such a marvelous strength at FDL.
I loved The Illusionist.
This is why we march April 11. It’s not Obama, it’s the Masters of the Universe. He can’t save the world. Reformation, in under 90 days, by a black man?!
On the plus side, we now have access to Plan B.
Well, damnit. These banksters are simultaneously insisting that they are solvent, ’cause otherwise, by law, he’d have to shut them down. Simultaneously, we’re told that we have to bail them out to the tune of a few trillion dollars. This is a goddamn scam being perpetrated on American taxpayers.
I liked it also our youngest, who is the movie expert graduates this May from film school, told us to see it. He doesn’t just watch the movie he goes through it time after time, all the special features especially the directors notes. He has over 1600 movies in his collection most are the Directors cuts!
But as for what I am going through you learn to roll with the punches, besides the survival rate is 90+% and the ten year rate is over 80%. The best part is no Cancer to worry about!!!
Obama had the choice of putting in charge of his economic team, Wall Streeters or serious economists. He chose the former, who are transparently pumping money to their Wall Street friends by the hundreds of billions, which they are on record as saying they don’t need; they say they are solvent.
oh my gosh. And some Murdoch dirtbag thought this logic was somehow sound??? The killer in NY also used licensed handguns – completely NRA approved.. somehow we have to get the guns away from these people.. or just away from the people.
in more uplifting news, there was an amazing story on BBC radio today. A teenager in Maryland was chatting on facebook with a teen in Oxfordshire UK, although she didn’t know exactly where he was… they met online. She thought he sounded depressed and imminently suicidal so she told her mom, who called MD state police, who called the White House, which called the British embassy, which called Scotland Yard, which called the Thames Valley local police, which hit the pavement in a desperate effort to track down the boy… finally finding him dying of a prescription drug overdose. They got him to the hospital in time.. all because a 15 yr old 3600 miles away sensed something was wrong and did something about her instinct.
That sounds like the Demi More twitter thing here in California! Just proves there ARE lots of good people out there. They not all like the Reich Wingnuts who would have egged them on..
Give a call you never know. Although since the night the cop who was killed in Oakland there have been three of them… so you just never know! In the mean time I am just going to enjoy… with in limits though… gotta be a good boy ya know..
Oh and we should be around at that time..
I agree that it’s a scam. It’s Shock Doctrine. I just think it’s so huge and has been in the building for so long, that to put the scorn on Obama is not productive, not yet.
In my opinion, we all knew we were picking one show horse over another. There are no messiahs in politics. Especially after the gutting our America has gone through for 8 years. More if you include Clinton trade and welfare “reform” policies, which I do. Thank god it’s not McPalin.
bad human resource choices arent fraud.. it just isn’t. I agree that Geithner an’ co are doing a poor job and should probably
get fired… and that the president has at the very least to reign them in and kick them to the curb. But Obama is hardly guilty of Shrubian misconduct here. He is mired in a Clintonian solution set probably because he knows or can conceive of no alternatives. Frankly, as an economist and ex-banker, I am just as out of solutions as the president seems to be. No matter what I try in terms of thought experiments on the banking system, the numbers just don’t add up. Progressives here have many good ideas, but even our numbers don’t fully add up. I think the president’s ideas are wrong but frankly I can’t honestly say, from a hard numbers (as opposed to a feel good populist vengeance) perspective I honestly don’t think I can do any better than he is doing. And it is the hard numbers that matter here.
Engaging in hyperbolic accusations against the president won’t solve anything here, with all due respect.
I’m not opposed to scorn, so long as it doesn’t turn into a complete inability to see what is what.
Either he knows the economy like a derivative trader and is gaming us, or he’s relying on some very fucking bad advise. I think the latter.
Frankly, as an economist and ex-banker, I am just as out of solutions as the president seems to be.
Per Article II of the U.S. Constitution:
Before he enter on the execution of his office, he shall take the following oath or affirmation:–”I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”
[…]
he shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed …
Would it be too fucking miuch to ask that he read and follow his job description. These bastards are defrauding the United States, and he is telling us that they are doing an outstanding job. WTF?
Yes, I agree, I’ve been actively seeking education from all those incredible people.
What I’m saying is that perhaps total power doesn’t reside in the Presidency.
When evil has been allowed free reign it might not be so easy to gain control very quickly. And evil has run rampant in American government.
It sucks. Understatement.
So, maybe I’m naive. It seems to me that the president gets to pick his cabinet. Summers didn’t even need Senate approval and Geithner was a problem, because unlike the rest of us, he didn’t pay his taxes. So, how hard would it have been to appoint people who weren’t from that greed-head culture of Wall Street, the very people who created the problem.
I agree with you. If Obama really wanted to tackle the root problem, he could have picked someone like Stiglitz. One question is how much did the U. of Chicago affect his thinking? If he still believes the Friedman doctrine, we’re screwed. I think Michelle Obama is a major player here.
You’re quite possibly spot on and I’m a total paranoid.
When billions and billions are in play…how do you play a rigged game as the new “Hope” in town? What is your actual strength?
F$$k, I’m cynical beyond redemption most likely!!!! *g*
1)You have the cutest dog in the world , and the best name
2)Happy birthday to Spencer Tracy (who I named my cat after, and
3)Evidently, I’m a consultant as well.*G*
One question is how much did the U. of Chicago affect his thinking? If he still believes the Friedman doctrine, we’re screwed.
IMHO, the Univ of Chicago problem here is Cass Sunstein, not Milton Friedman. Sunstein espouses a minimalist approach to governance, which is just fine with those who want to keep the establishment established. I notice that Sunstein’s coauthor of the book Nudge will be a guest at FDL’s book salon tomorrow. That should be interesting.
hiring ex-bankers to solve a banking crisis isn’t exactly illogical, and hiring this particular batch can only be known ipso facto to be a mistake after the fact… some personal tax neglect not withstanding. The president started out using a Clintonian solution set because that’s what he was advised to do and because it actually did work 15 years ago. With 20-20 hindsight, over a mere 10 weeks, it isn’t working that well now, but, heck, who has a crystal ball, much less one that can solve a problem that took 8 years of shrubbish treason to create, in a mere 10 weeks? A few misteps are only logical. And I am saying this as someone who was never a strong Obama supporter in the first place.. but comparing him to shrub is, from my
perspective, just as inaccurate as the worst Limbaugh or Bachman BS.
By your logic, I should just go out and shoot myself, because I contributed to the problems today by doing what I genuinely thought was the right thing, in my job as a senior investment banker, five years ago.
Okay, I’ll agree. But I’m not ready to march with Fuck Obama signs.
Wait, doesn’t the cabinet have to be approved by the senate? Right?
Oh oh, I feeeel politiiiical brain melt coming on.
hahahahaha – that 3rd one sneaks up on ya and before ya know it, pow – you’re a consultant
thanks emerson
he’s a token because he’s too small to be a real dog (my cat is bigger than he is), and he is a token imitation male (also known as a t.i.m). i could not name him tim since my bud tim was painting my house at the time.
But the whole shameful Wall Street ideology is built on Friedman’s imperialist free rides. Nobody in power has to pay for anything. Tax breaks only for the richest, and what deficits?
By your logic, I should just go out and shoot myself, because I contributed to the problems today by doing what I genuinely thought was the right thing, in my job as a senior investment banker, five years ago.
I don’t insist on seppuku for errors. But, no coach puts players who are bizarrely screwing up back into the game. Geithner and Summers are obviously playing for the other side. Yet, two weeks ago Obama insisted that Geithner was doing “an outstanding job.”
Obama proudly insists that the buck stop with him. Fine. Let it stop there. The public is being defrauded by Wall Street. He can delegate the blame or take it himself.
a friend of my former next door neighbor had a dog who had her first (and last) litter – 8 pups. he was the runt of the litter and stole my heart when i saw him.
my neighbors got one of his sisters – one that looks just like the mom – and token looks just like his dad. mom is lhasa apso with a wee bit of (we think) toy poodle and/or maltese in her and the dad is a yorkie, scottie, and rat terrier mix.
I’m hoping (praying?) he’ll make the changes needed and fast! I also believe if we put the right kind of pressure on him , and enough of it, he could be a GREAT president. I call it,” Make Obama be Obama.
I also believe if we put the right kind of pressure on him , and enough of it, he could be a GREAT president. I call it,” Make Obama be Obama.
I’m infuriated, but what you say is pretty much my attitude. I hold out the possibly insane hope that he knows better and would do better if he had the right information.
In any case, we need to put “the right kind of pressure on him.” My problem is that I don’t know what that would be, except to call for his impeachment for not enforcing the law as he is sworn to do. I realize that will not happen, but I’m hoping for some shock value. This guy is screwing up. He is letting the banksters drain the treasury of trillions of dollars. Why aren’t people in the fucking streets protesting?
“I think Geithner is doing an outstanding job,” Obama said. “He is a smart guy. He is a calm and steady guy. I don’t think people fully appreciate the plate that was handed him.”
I saw that and it made me crazy, but I’m hoping he’s trying to keep a cool exterior to let the country know he’s a leader. I think we have to let him know that we know how Geithner and Summers are scamming the American people and we want the bums gone. Also that unless he reverses his field , he ain’t gonna be no 2-term president.
Thanks. I’ve got to get involved. This is one place that I might be able to get bipartisan. These people are robbing us, and our president is helping them.
The good news is I think it will be pretty bipartisan. The whole country is unemployed and pissed. The only ones not affected are the mega-rich, although some of them go t taklen, too.
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd, Friedman, Kristof and Rich today in the NYT. MoDo, in “The First Shrink,” says President Obama won over Europe using a psychological finesse that has been missing from American leadership for a long time. I agree with her — it’s been inexpressibly refreshing to watch a President who didn’t behave like a drunken frat boy. The Moustache of Wisdom talks about “Obama’s Big Bold Bet.” He says the emergency economic policies represent a huge bet that the administration can confine this crisis to a really nasty recession. One might give him more credence if he hadn’t ended up nodding sagely while quoting a vice chairman of Goldman Sachs International… Mr. Kristof, writing from Port-au-Prince, Haiti, tells of women who are “Pregnant (Again) and Poor.” He says there’s simply no way to elevate families from poverty unless women have fewer children. And yet global family-planning efforts have stalled. Mr. Rich says “Even Rich Wagoner’s Firing Got Lousy Mileage,” and that Detroit’s chief executive had to be beheaded so that the masters of the universe at the top of Wall Street’s bailed-out behemoths might survive.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got French toast made with challah and a bit of cinnamon. I’m not quite sure how it snuck up on me, but Palm Sunday is here already. Is it just me, or does it feel like time is rushing past at an ever-increasing rate? Have a great day.
Suzanne!
Suze!

Your guard dog looks fierce. Scary.

Token is just like Tucker they both just love to sit/lie in the sun no mater how damm hot it is out!
token is the cutest dog in the world, 9 lb category. he’s more the type to run up to burglars with his tail wagging to inform them that he will show them where i hide the good stuff.
I think that’s probably a ruse. Just when they think they’re safe BANG!! he bites their ankles. And then they die from rabies. Pretty good security system you have there.
i wish you really well with that. a friend of mine who has liver cancer isn’t eligible for a transplant at this point – tumor’s not small enough.
*laughing* i’m sure there is a clause somewhere that says i must say he is current with all his vacinations.
Lovely, Suzanne. Thanks for the energy.
tucker is token’s bigger older cousin i think. tucker looks a lot like token’s sister goldie, who we used to live next door to.
I was hoping maybe I could fix it with duct tape…
how’s the southland tonight dwr1? and those twin grandbabies?
Those damn technicalities. They’ll get ya every time…
hi ndfg – how’s life in the great north?
Good thinking. What do you estimate, a couple rolls, maybe?
Sorry to hear that GW. I have been lucky as they were watching mine for the last seven years. The VA is very thorough and spares no expense for checking things out. I have had two chemoembalazions to make sure the lesion didn’t grow.

We did meet her and she is cute. Tucker seemed to take a liking to her iirc and Token was a bit jealous at the time.
sending your friend some warm, healing shrinking thoughts gw
token is male even though he is an it
We had a gorgeous day also. It felt inspiring. The garlics up and thriving, the young hens are robust, laying eggs and under the impression that I’m their rooster. Which is making me feel like a pervert when they assume the sexual-submissive crouch every time I walk up to them.!. I need a nice older rooster. Tucker also met the same fate…
margot!
oooh, i like it. make sure that carrying a pitchfork isn’t against any weapons law – and if the tines are not pointy but dull that helps you say it is not a stabbing weapon.
daisies!
don’t forget that the Second Amendment guarantees you the right to “keep and bear arms”…it doesn’t specify firearms…
yup
I was thinking exactly the same thing. All it would take is a few hothead cops to misunderstand and what was supposed to be an innocent statement instantly turns into something tragic.
i just had to go look up chemoembalization. my friend was diagnosed about a year ago. before that it was just hepatitus.
Does that means your two arms Lurker??
thanks suz
dang, no utube of Baseball… been berra berra good… to me. …
hepatitus can certainly lead to cancer. What type of hepatitus? a b or c? I don’t have hepatitus but I have been getting immunized for a & b. although I may have to start the process over againg after transplantation.
Grrrils!
I like the pitchfork as a statement. I think I’ll get one and use it as a statement on the front of my house. Feels right.
hey christine e
i don’t know what type. she contracted it from the drugs she used to do when she was much younger.
eureka springs has a wooden pitchfork – iirc, he has a picture of it up somewhere
Hey Suzanne,
Happy Spring (though snow expected here this week)! Hello to all this late nite.
Hello and so glad to see you, Chris. Que pasa?
OT: I noticed at my local so-cal grocery today that the scallions are from MX. Dang. We grow those things right here on the Oxnard Plain……what’s up with that? I mostly buy at farmers markets because I trust/hope that they might use sanitary practices.
That is the usual way, unfortunately the sharing of needles spreads hepatitus.
I can cap them with chunks of something. Was going to say Meat but I’m trying not to go “dark” these days.
I do have an old cow skull with horns and a bullet hole through the forehead, yeah, we’re rural. I could paint it gold and mount it as sculpture.
Pitchforks offer endless opportunities for folk art.
waaay past my bedtime pups. i’ll be turning in. be kind to yourselves and one another.

And garlic is from China at my local market — though we are only a short drive from Gilroy. My cookbooks say Chinese garlic doesn’t taste the same. I’m all about ‘let’s go local.’ Jeez.
i moved here the wed after the last farmers market of the season. am impatiently waiting for it to start up again (iirc, it starts the first sat in may).

Last time I was there, Gilroy still smelled like garlic… they must be planting some of it there.
whew
Oregon farmers markets will get up soon, I’m sure. I’m still laughing about the guy in Corvallis (where my Bozeman daughter used to live) who set up a “Meet a Black Man” stand……to give opportunity for diversification. Maybe I have a bizarre sense of humor, but I laughed out loud.
hey blub – gilroy always smells like garlic. when i lived in that area, the smell of garlic became associated with almost home.
Yeah, well, I’m kind of hoping I just have to do a couple more protests. I’m getting to the point where I pay physically too much. It takes days to recover.
Though I do love being the older woman walking between the youngbloods and the police. That’s worth it. The power of the Mother Presence.

There’s a House Resolution being put forward by Ron Paul with the backing of Barney Franks HR 1866: To amend the Controlled Substances Act to exclude industrial hemp from the definition…..
Since Rick Larsen is a Blue Dog in an agricultural state, I can’t think of a better issue to dog him on. Will he co-sponsor this bill? If not, why not?
Thanks NPB

garlic is considered one of the basic food groups in my house nahant (laughing)
They is correct.

i hear it is real good – haven’t tried that one myself yet either
this makes no sense to me. sorry.
No argument.
They know they’re not solvent. We know they’re not solvent. They know that we know they’re not solvent.
May you live long and proud, nahant.
‘nite, FDL.
Hey Newt you really need to come by a help us get rid of all these Lemons…
No, he can’t save the world in 90 days, but he can stop the rape of the Treasury in an instant. “Just say no.”
Yeah, well, I’m not leaving without oranges.
I have six grand kids to watch grow up.
Then by the law cited, the Prompt Corrective Action Act, he must shut them down.
g’nite db
Oh alright, they have been getting even sweeter by the day… had one today and it was pure sugary orange mmmmmmmm
They got him to the hospital in time.. all because a 15 yr old 3600 miles away sensed something was wrong and did something about her instinct.
thanks blub – i could use some good news today
I’m a little tight tomorrow. Got an hour about 3. But you will most likely be on the table about then, if we’re fortunate.
Good God!! Ain’t technology grand?
Wait for it. The wonders and glories of FISA.
bad human resource choices arent fraud.. it just isn’t.
I think the latter.
see Jane from tonight. Again. All over it.
Shorter Elizabeth Warren: Timothy Geithner, WTF?
There is no question that Obama is our best president since Carter, but to choose refugees of the Bush and Clinton administrations to deal with this crisis is unconcionable. And, they are emptying out the treasury to these Banksters:

g’nite sunny
g’nite newton
Per Article II of the U.S. Constitution:
Would it be too fucking miuch to ask that he read and follow his job description. These bastards are defrauding the United States, and he is telling us that they are doing an outstanding job. WTF?
God bless Jane; she gets it.
Well good pups Nitey nite till next late late nite…. Thanks for all the good wishes pups
g’nite nahant – fingers and toes crossed dood
I agree with you. If Obama really wanted to tackle the root problem, he could have picked someone like Stiglitz. One question is how much did the U. of Chicago affect his thinking? If he still believes the Friedman doctrine, we’re screwed. I think Michelle Obama is a major player here.
You’re quite possibly spot on and I’m a total paranoid.
When billions and billions are in play…how do you play a rigged game as the new “Hope” in town? What is your actual strength?
F$$k, I’m cynical beyond redemption most likely!!!! *g*
hey emerson
A new president gets to choose his cabinet. Obama turned the economy over to the looters. He was not helpless, and isn’t innocent.
Suzanne! Loved the Toon!
Hey , also learned 3 things from your blog:
1)You have the cutest dog in the world , and the best name
2)Happy birthday to Spencer Tracy (who I named my cat after, and
3)Evidently, I’m a consultant as well.*G*
Tax breaks only for the richest, and what deficits?
emerson, this post has pix of token on the day i got him and the day before his 4th birthday the end of feb
Goodnight, good dreams.
g’nite openhope
I don’t insist on seppuku for errors. But, no coach puts players who are bizarrely screwing up back into the game. Geithner and Summers are obviously playing for the other side. Yet, two weeks ago Obama insisted that Geithner was doing “an outstanding job.”
Obama proudly insists that the buck stop with him. Fine. Let it stop there. The public is being defrauded by Wall Street. He can delegate the blame or take it himself.
Awwww, look at that wittle boy! Where’d you get him?
a friend of my former next door neighbor had a dog who had her first (and last) litter – 8 pups. he was the runt of the litter and stole my heart when i saw him.
my neighbors got one of his sisters – one that looks just like the mom – and token looks just like his dad. mom is lhasa apso with a wee bit of (we think) toy poodle and/or maltese in her and the dad is a yorkie, scottie, and rat terrier mix.
I’m hoping (praying?) he’ll make the changes needed and fast! I also believe if we put the right kind of pressure on him , and enough of it, he could be a GREAT president. I call it,” Make Obama be Obama.
time for me to head out pups. thank you for hanging out with me tonight. g’nite all.
Geez, your whole neighborhood is like a United Nations! I think you’re right about the toy AND Maltese. He’s a looker, alright.
So, you’re a retired cop, Suz?
G’nite, Suzanne
g’nite Suzanne
Here we go from March 19:
I will be next Satuday April 11. There are demonstrations in most major cities across the country, Thats how we start.
Exactly!!!!!
The good news is I think it will be pretty bipartisan. The whole country is unemployed and pissed. The only ones not affected are the mega-rich, although some of them go t taklen, too.
IMHO, people of all stripes should be furious.
I ‘m pretty sure they are. How long have you been at FDL, wigwam?
I think it’s been three years. Possibly four.
I like the people. Lot of very smart people
I enjoyed talking with you. I really think we can fix this if we pull together. Have a great night!
This is a great bunch. The people who do the front-page stuff are incredible, as are the commenters.
Thanks, and G’nite.
Here they are.
