America’s favorite felonious drug-trafficking illegal arms dealing document shredder gives us a history lesson:
Julius Caesar was murdered by Brutus and his friends in the Roman legislature on the ides of March 44 B.C. Free enterprise died at the hands of Barack and his friends in the American legislature on the 30th of March 2009.
Nifty historical analogy! But if "free enterprise" is the victim whose demise is to be lamented, is linking it with an overreaching military dictator who stamped out a representative government that had endured for 500 years really the best tactic? I guess only if you’re an authoritarian asshole like North.
The following day, those same ministers of American government completed the death warrant for civic duty in our republic. They called it the "Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act." The bill passed — as did the killing of Caesar — with overwhelming support from the legislature.
…
In the space of 48 hours, the president of the United States seized control of one of the world’s largest manufacturing companies and fired its CEO. He followed up by congratulating our representatives for creating the 14th-largest paid entity on the planet — a quarter-million government-paid "volunteers." And then he departed the capital to receive the cheers of adoring crowds — in Europe. If Adolf Hitler or Josef Stalin had done any of this, Americans would have gone crazy. As it was, most of our countrymen apparently enjoyed the show.
Yeah, Americans would’ve been absolutely furious — marching in the streets! — if Stalin had attempted to preserve the Russian auto industry through a series of loans and restructurings.
WTF?
And don’t you just love the sarcastic quotes around the word "volunteer"? In case you didn’t know, expanding AmeriCorps with a bill co-sponsored by that notorious Marxist Orin Hatch means our children will soon be wearing Young Pioneers uniforms and singing "The Internationale" any day now.
They get crazier every day.

Free enterprise died at the hands of Barack and his friends in the American legislature on the 30th of March 2009.
and as it died it said “Et tu George!”
Unreal.
Digg is open
Has this neoNazi fuckwit been hitting the crack pipe with Fawn Hall again?
i don’t know, but i’ve made it a life policy never to listen to drug-trafficking illegal arms dealing document shredder’s spout their take on anything. that’s just me.
lol
I wish no one would cover ignorant cretins like North – just leave them alone, ignore what they say, and eventually they will have to just go away. Every time I see Cheney or Rove or their ilk on TV, I think “why the hell are they giving these morons air time? We don’t give a rat’s butt what they think on any subject”.
what a bum. look. Joe The Biden is my guy, ya know? And he told a reporter something in 2004 that i’m finding over abnd over to be an appropriate response to so much these loons are saying.
“Who gives a shit?” Ya know Ollie? Who gives a shit about anything you have to say? Cretin.
Holy shit!!! Didn’t see your post! WTF are the odds we would both pick the word cretin to describe this guy?
My thought exactly! LOL
Okay, folks, the WORD OF THE DAY is “CRETIN”. Can you use it in a sentence?
I think most people today have forgotten who North was or is or they never knew in the first place. The young people today certainly don’t know. He’s scum.
Yeah, I ,also, don’t understand why any more publiocity is given these kinds of people; it’s only by ignoring them that they lose any ‘gravitas’ they think they have.
He’s a died in the wool commie killer, what do you expect?
Ollie North broke his oath to suport and defend the Constitution of the United States when he put serving Reagan above all else.
Colonel Oliver North is an exemplary patriot and an example to all young people. He was a military leader who went above and beyond of the call for duty to serve the United States, under our munificent Present Ronald Reagan.
His dedication and ability to solve complex problems with “out of the box” thinking and actions sever as an example to all who served under him. He was not promoted to much senior rank because of a Witch Hunt by the democratic lead congress.
The loss of his services were a blow to our country. We are honored by his diligence in informing the citizens of the United States by reporting of complex military events on the Fox News Channel.
good idea.
As my guy Joe The Biden would say: Noun. verb. cretin.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Too much, man. Excellent. I think I just wet myself. Too funny.
He’s a skunk.
Ollie ain’t got nothin’ on this guy. Actually, I think it’s his mentor:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1KvgtEnABY
So, is this an attempt to fly Ollie up the flagpole for a “test”. Did some GOPer think, “Oh it’s been so long, no one will remember his bad side, just that they will associate him with Reagan?”
Is this the Newt-North toe in the water?
I hope not. But golly gee, the stuff we’ll be able to tote out material-wise will be so fun for Jon Stewart.
Again, this stuff just writes itself. Stewart will soon be able to let writers go. Or he can keep the writers on and just have a longer broadcast time. The job is becoming so easy due to the GOPers.
Col. David Hackworth wrote the definitive description of Oliver North, it’s as relevent today, as it was in 1994.
Read the whole thing, it’s well worth the effort, don’t miss the part that describes ‘Ollie’ running around naked waiving a .45 pistol.
“…exemplary patriot …”?
Give me a break.
Basically I agree w/ Royal Oak – ignore the deluded dangerous fool – but I remember that Hackworth smackdown.
Hackworth was no librul, either.
I’d like to see Ollie do some of the work that Americorps volunteers do.
is that tongue in cheek or tongue in OTHER cheek?
huh. the poor skunks are really catchin’ the heat today. from me last thread, now you. Lessee….. rummaging around for another critter to take some heat off the striped fellas….
I’m slow. I still don’t understand, deep down, why Liddy & North & Cheney & Rummy & dubya aren’t in jail for the rest of their time on this earth.
DUNG!
er, ooooops.
DUGG!
Synoia is too funny…me thinks a forked tongue, one pointed fork for each cheek.
Maybe he means Hitler or Stalin taking over the American auto industry. Then it almost makes sense — Americans really would have gone crazy if that had happened. /snark
siri – you teh funny!
Sorry that should have been a reply to Raven @11 He sold Iran weapons and then Iran’s terror puppets Hezbollah blew up how many Marines? No one could have foreseen that Iran might be angry about America selling weapons to both sides in a war and get even.
I think Ollie might be responsible for more American deaths than Commies and Terrorists.
However I can use the word Iodine deficiency to describe Bush’s mom during her pregnancy :)
I honestly don’t know what the hell he’s talking about.
Don’t feel bad. I think you have to be psychotic to grasp his advanced concepts. I suspect he gets some help from The Voices, too. So in that sense, he’s working with a stacked deck.
Didn’t you get the memo? Guys like Ollie North or G Gordon Liddy, or Cheney and Rove, for that matter, don’t have to make sense. They just make stuff up as they go along and say stuff so often and authoritatively that they figure someone will eventually believe them. Unfortunately, sometimes they are right. Repigs will believe them.
I’d like to put in a good word for Julius Caesar here.
In the Republic of Rome there was a certain law whereby the Senior Consul could be made dictator for a period of time if the Senators agreed and it was an emergency. He was not held to any laws nor was he prosecutable for any actions.
Several Consuls before Caesar held this post and most were much, much worse. Mostly Sulla, in order to fix the economy, would seize wealthy equestrian estates( middle class and merchants) and even put to death the owners of large businesses & wealth and auction off the estates to raise $$$$$ for the perpetual wars Rome was waging to gain territory… and maybe to give a little grain to the proles ( that’s where the word proletariat came from)
Julius Caesar was a military and all around genius & legal advocate as well as an orator of the status of Cicero & very popular with the people. Many in the elite were homicidally envious of him. The Senate forced Caesar to cross the Rubicon because they were going to prosecute him for winning territory in Gaul and they had not granted the permission for him to do so. They sure liked the spoils tho!
Scholars have differing opinions, but the best case I’ve read is her “Masters of Rome – the Fall of the Republic” by Colleen McCullough.( she’s fabulous) She seems in love with ol’ Julius and if what her research tells us is true,( and she IS meticulous) the guy was trying to write laws which would be fair to all the citizens of Rome and would take away many privileges of the elites. THAT’S why the “liberators” killed him. First they set him up
with tricks and lies and then they murdered him and ran away.
Caesar was going to put down the dictatorship after he’d gotten Rome back on her feet, but these “Boni” ( the good men) kept up a propaganda campaign that Caesar wanted to be king. And they forced “dictator for life” on him.
He didn’t want all this stuff, he wanted to go to Parthia (Afghanistan) and win back the Roman eagles his friend Crassus had lost…. so not even Rome could conquer Afghanistan!
There’s a lesson for ya!
So, not only is North ignorant and a fool but he’s an ignorant fool as well.
This is what we get, Mr. Obama when we don’t clean up the messes of the past: dangerous ignorant fools shooting off their mouths where everyone can hear them….more “Boni”.
Sorry, I just dropped in, and now, I have to go……Kisses to all the dogs!
It won’t be long before he delivers the old standby, “…stabbed in the back…” speach, wherein the USA would have won the Viet Nam war if not for the traitors at home who burned our flag while Marines were dying face down in the mud.
I bet he’s standing on the same platform with Sarah Palin when he does.
Me thinks Ollie crossed the insanity Rubicon today…
Today?
You don’t have to look that far afield for assholes comparing the administration to the Nazis and Stalin. The “progressive”, reluctant PUMAs over at Correntewire were making pretty much the same accusations over Obama’s consolidation of party power back in May ‘08. Gleichschaltung, indeed!
Bonus treat: see the comments for Paul Lukasiak’s correction: Obama’s campaign was more Stalinist than Nazi.
Scarecrow’s diary is front-paged now!
The Principles Underlying Habeas Corpus Apply Everywhere
I always loved Hack. You’re right, he was no Liberal. But he called ‘em as he saw ‘em.
The real tragidy is that he died just as Bush started his Iraq War. Hack would have been all over W, Cheney and Powell for what they did. I’m sorry I didn’t get to hear his voice on the matter.
PS: “About Face (Hack’s autobiography)” and “A Bright Shining Lie (about Paul Vann)” are the two best books on Vietnam. Anyone recommend any others?
I honestly think the documents stuffed in his undergarments are cutting off the blood supply to his head.
OK, again! If there were a toll bridge, he’d be broke…
So if the people who sign up for Americorps are “volunteers,” what does it make those serving in the “all-volunteer” military? And where’s his outrage on behalf of them?
Seriously, I can’t figure out why anyone would give North’s opinion a minute of his/her attention. Damn you Blue Texan, give me my minute back!
Yes. That’s always been a seductive idea. “Just for a little while, just until we work this out …” Consider the GWOT and the Unitary Executive.
Gawd, you might as well have linked to Larry Johnson.
“…This is what we get, Mr. Obama when we don’t clean up the messes of the past: dangerous ignorant fools shooting off their mouths where everyone can hear them….more “Boni”. …
Excellent. Well said. Truth to buffoonism.
I still cannot find the sarcasm tag in HTML. I need help!
No, your comment was perfect, but
some of us areI’m a bit slow on the uptake. The very loon that was your first Faux Noise guest. He was so good they added Horrendo Revolver to find Al Capone’s nuts. That’s how they started folks. With convicts and carneys.
Looks the same today, doesn’t it?
this is all pretty funny considering that most people I know equate Ollie North to Nazism and Stalinism.
Dispatches – Michael Herr
What utterly amazes me these days is that these guys are rapidly running out of crazy room – Obama has been president since January 20th or just a little over 2 months – he’s going to be President until 2012 – at this rate the right wing will be out on the streets, shreiking wordless gibberish and smearing themselves with their own filth by July.
And you have to wonder what then?
Is it the Fruit Loops or the Cocoa Puffs causing this in greater Wingnutistan? I understand people can become kooky for the chocolate flavored one… Meanwhile, in RL, I feel safe in saying that most of us were doing okay without having to listen to Oliver North try to save us from the new Vlad the Automobile Industry Result Expecter, who is a dark skinned Muslin with terrorist ties born in the Kremlin itself to the happy parents An Tie Kriste and Kali.
Yeah, they are kinda peaking the crazy a little early.
Are we really talking about Ollie North. This sounds sooooo much like Dubya.
Oliver North is a disgrace to his uniform and deserves to be ignored. He should have gone to jail.
Thanks. I’ve never even heard about it.
What a commentator suggested above is true: Julius Caeser was a competent military and civilian leader who was popular with the public, and did much to modernize Rome, and did some lasting good while dragging it out trouble caused by reactionary patricians (Aside from the Civil War unpleasantness). And this is not to say Caeser was a ‘good guy’ -hard to judge ancients by modern standards. At the time, he was considered a populist demagogue with what today’s GOP would consider pinko socialist leanings.
I know, the NSPD 51 kept haunting me as I wrote that……
oliver north. what a dick.
