It looks like Scott Murphy might pull off victory in NY-20, up by 65 after all today’s votes are in. Absentee ballots still need to be counted (just short of 6,000 of them), but the old canard about that being by definition "good for the GOP" has pretty much died. So at this moment, in a district with 70,000 more registered Republicans than Democrats – a seat the GOP had desperately hoped and committed resources to pick up — things are looking mildly up.
Because now there’s a very good chance, but not certainty, we’ll have a blue dog Democrat to frustrate us, rather than another Republican to make us angry. So there’s now a guarantee of no worse than disappointment.
Another really close election where the Democrat holds the lead.
Time for Ben Ginsberg to update his resume. And Michael Steele might want to do that too – and finish his mix-tape.

Zed…Zed is dead…long live Zed and Ann Coulter’s Adam’s apple!
Well, at least with a blue dog, we get his vote some of the time. With a Republican, likelihood of getting his/her vote drops to about zero.
Recent polls showing a slight uptick in Obama’s Disapproval ratings. I think what’s happening is that the Republican leaders are hammering the Republican voters who voted for Obama, giving them plenty of Kool-aid to drink, and driving them rightwards. So much for “bipartisanship,” what with Republicans withdrawing into their cut taxes/cut spending knee-jerk response to every problem.

Yes, we have another Conservadem. This person will most likely not want single payer universal health care. Thanks to Gov. Patterson picking Conservadem Kirsten Gillibrand in the Senate we in NY have another conservadem who will not initiate a fix to the lousy drug company enriching Medicare Part D that needs a complete overhaul, or at least a real benefit in Medicare Part B that when people flock to the real benefit, Medicare Part D will wither on the vine as some idiot Republican once said.
I will get interviewed by Wes Brain this morning on a web radio station which you can listen in on at
http://audio1.kskq.org:8080/64.m3u
Tune in at 10am Eastern time or 7am Pacific Time this morning.
Wes Brain does a program on unions and issues important to the progressive community and labor. I will talk to him how to launch a peaceful revolution that will end up in enacting progressive legislation that the establishment left has not attempted to do to pressure the Republiklan party for such legislation.

Citizen bobschacht:
I think the very modest uptick in Obama’s disaproval is from US…the progressives who are registering disatisfaction with his courting of the Banks and protecting the bailout bonuses…in fact most of the independents and “moderate” Dems are blamin’ the corporate fat cats and the fascists for the economy…I think if you look at the breakout of where Obama’s unfavorables come from it will lie in his handling of the economy from progressives and maybe a few independents.
Oh boy, “well organized anarchists” in London.
If comments/posts at the Lake in recent weeks are any indicator, there’s probably a lot of truth in that observation. I don’t live in the “My Obama – right or wrong” world but it sure does illustrate a major difference between dems and thugs….dems will jump up and down whenever there’s pretty much anything with which they don’t agree; thugs will defend *everything* one of their own does/says with their last breath.
“Organized Anarchists” is a great name for a band.
If I had any talent, I’d steal it.
Hey, Raven -
Are y’all in full “green-up” mode down your way?
Has anyone heard any news about that bug/worm/virus thingie that was supposed to hit non-Macs today?
thugs will defend *everything* one of their own does/says with their last breath.
Scene from republic-land: “Gawd, what a dick – I can’t believe the utter maroonity of that half-wit. Boner – find a microphone and go say something nice about him.”
Oh yea, they declared the drought “officially” over but will keep the water restrictions in place for FOUR months! Morons let Atlanta grow for 25 years with no planning, now this is what they have.
CNN ON WORM
is it safe to click on that link?
heh.
Good morning, pups. It’s Dowd and Friedman today. MoDo, in “No More Hummer Nation,” has a question: How do we come to terms with the gluttony that exploded our economy and still retain our reptilian American desire for living large? Howsabout taxing the crap out of gas guzzling monsters? Works for me… The Moustache of Wisdom, in “The Price Is Not Right,” says it’s obvious that the reason we’re experiencing meltdowns in both the financial system and the climate system is because we have been mispricing risk in both arenas. Jeez, ya think?
Here they are.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got Thomas’ English muffins with a variety of jams today. We’re getting more rain today. It started yesterday evening, and is forecast to continue through tomorrow. A nice, slow, steady rain. I’m smiling. Have a great day, and don’t forget that it’s April Fool’s Day.
Here is the microsoft link on conflicker

May be we could change that to “CNN *is* worm”? Gak, that place gets worse every day!
One would think Modo would be good for a hummer now and then.
MoDo, in “No More Hummer Nation,” has a question:….
I’m not even gonna say where my mind went at that point….
well, that cost me another Fresca….
I loves Fresca!
Good morning Waccamaw and other firepups!
Has anyone seen this, about employees at Caterpillar France taking several managers hostage? It’s the third incident:
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/04/01/bus…..038;st=cse
Thanks for the hot chocolate, Marion. It’s very cold here today.
will it play in Peoria?
I was torn between possible MoDo responses:
“Well, there goes half my access…”, or
“Now what am I gonna do for a hobby?”
I’ve always had a quick trigger finger!
I wonder if it’ll get any play on CNN. (aka The Worm) :-D
Snort! Time for another cup of tea and a bit of brain bleach…
[[Pfiff]]! Great to see ya…..what’s the time over your way?
We changed the clocks this past Sunday, so it’s now about 12:40pm. Great to see you, too!
Ah, six hours ahead of our east coast. Can’t remember his schedule……is Obama visiting you guys?
I’ve got a head still half-full of Vicodin from some oral surgery yesterday.
Next time I represent somebody for forging a scrip for that stuff, or possession, whatever, I’ve really got to ask – “Why, fer gawd’s sake?” That shit seriously sucks. I’m tossing what they sent home with me.
He just gave a press conference with Gordon Brown. (The Worm covered it live. :-D) He looked really tired, or maybe he’s catching a cold. I heard he’ll be in France on Friday and will be doing some kind of town hall with Americans living in the area. I haven’t heard about any plans to come to Germany, but I think there’s going to be some big NATO celebration near the French German border (not sure about that).
HuffPo headline: “China Calls for Global Currency to Replace Dollar.”
I think it’s cool that even Chinese guys are punking Michele Bachmann for April Fool’s Day.
‘Course, it’s entirely possible that Michele thinks that April 1 was named solely in her honor….
Just because you happen to mention the scrip business, do you or any other pups happen to know if pharmacists have the right to override a scrip as written by a doc?
Asking because the pharmacist filled one yesterday for less than half a month’s supply of one of my asthma meds as prescribed by a specialist telling me I shouldn’t be taking that much. I know some of them refuse to fill morning-after pills so it’s a bloody good thing I wasn’t in need of *that*. :-(((
Forkin’ cnn has francis townsend on this morning…..spit!
Wow, that doesn’t sound right. (Another asthma sufferer here.)
NPR reporting that DOJ dropping all charges against Ted Stevens
I think we’re still operating under BushLaw wherein federal guidance to pharmacists is – “hey – do whatever you think is best…”
Actually, as far as I know, pharmacists can refuse to refill scrips for controlled substances before the full and correct time period between refills has elapsed, and that’s about it.
Unless, of course, your prescription has anything to do with past icky sexual stuff.
Pissed me off big time. Doc had written it for worst case senerio (sp?) and I’m sure gonna pursue the subject with him….you betcha! :-(
NPR reporting that DOJ dropping all charges against Ted Stevens
well, of course they are. who needs those pesky fucking juries anyway?
Besides Obama doesn’t believe in dredging up the past – he wants to look forward. That ought to clear the dockets in the federal courts in a hurry.
Unless “reefer” is involved. Causes madness, I hear…
Eric Holder has just earned himself a nickname contest, imo.
My first two entries are way X-rated.
I’d certainly take it up firmly with your doc, and I’d raise hell with the pharmacist too. Before I switched pharmacies. If necessary, have your doc write a “cover letter” explaining to the damn pharmacist that he’s over-prescribing to a responsible patient to cover, as you said, a “worst case scenario.” From time to time one of our docs who has an allergy component to his practice has to do letters similar to this. Good luck.
Because I’m fortunate enough to actually have health insurance, I know they won’t refill them ahead of time simply because the insurer won’t pay for them…….of course, they’ll be happy to give you an advance script…..*if* you’re willing to pay for it out of your own pocket — been there; done that. :-(
Happy April Fool’s Day everyone. Quite the scene in London this morning.
Thanks, Marion. Living back and forth between two ends of the state makes it difficult with scrip refilling. I love my pharmacist in the mountains and haven’t ever had this kind of problem with them but am often not there when it’s meds-run-out time. Shouldn’t be b*tching tho’ since there’s so many people who don’t have insurance….always helps to try to keep things in perspective.
Today ought to be good for a lot of laughs. The rethugs are going to present their “budget” and then parade to the house chambers where they will play Simon Sez
Amazing that he would override your doctor. Must be an admirer of the Bill Frist “No need to examine the patient personally” school of diagnosis.
Good luck getting it sorted out. It was great seeing you this morning. Catch you on another thread.
Speaking of laughs, you guys and gals are pretty funny this morning.
And, Mike, may I tell you how much I like your name? Was raised in the foothills, live there now and the main drag down our two pony town is Foothill Blvd.
We’ve got Foothills Rd here runs from Golden to Boulder
This is interesting. Maybe we are in for a rough day. From DKos:
Back to this election thing. I’m not at all comfortable with a 65 vote margin in that district. Not at all. Steele will say “hey we came this close (holding thumb and forefinger real close like)to picking up a seat. we didn’t lose a seat and we almost won. It’s a good sign. I’m very encouraged.”
As for ben Ginsberg… he is still an annoying bald-headed fart.
They are. I put up a comment about the manin post and almost didn’t want to go back to being on topic because the free lancing has been so enjoyable.
Me too. hadn’t seen it for so long abnd then I saw it…. ’bout a year ago maybe. It was great to have some again.
the republicans are bleeding voters, why?
because they are following the orders THE two most reviled pundits in this country
they get pulled around by their nose from rove and rush, the two twins that look like they were born from the same zygote.
the orders these putz’z gave their puppets?
obstruct, make certain the country is worse off while the democrats are in power
the problem is now their methods are transparent and they will continue bleeding voters
however the democrats aren’t working for the country any more either, they, sadly, are working for their next campaign contribution
we have a long way to go before we will have proper governance
once franken is in there will be a bigger push toward publicly financed campaigns, that is what we need and pronto
Foothill Boulevard is a major road in the city and county of Los Angeles, as well as an arterial road in the city and county of San Bernardino, stretching well over 60 miles (110 kilometers) in length…
Gots to love dat google. *g*
I was able to get a draft, here it is but I’m told they will have to add some fluff
1}cut trillions of taxes from the wealthy and corporations who go overseas
2} give some trinket to the middle class, lower class and
children
3} give some money to churches
4} find pixie dust
5} this will all result in a ballanced budget
I hate to be a downer but I’m not that confident that Murphy’s going to emerge the victor. The polls just started to swing his way in the last few days. Who knows when these absentee ballots were completed. I’m just glad he won the original vote since the talking heads were gearing up their ‘repudiation of Obama’ meme.
but let’s be clear here, I don’t want anyone getting disapointed;
they were embarassed by the media and even their own, they’re not going to be THAT stupid to do the same thing they did the last time
this budget might actually have some meat to it
I’ll take a trinket, please.
Now, I’ve posted a few times about how i was raised Catholic, had enough of it and recently gone back to see if there was anything there for me… and it’s been really hard. saw at HuffPo this morning that fat-ass Gingrich has comnverted to Catholicism.
I’m done. Anybody know a religion I can try on for size?
I’m a Catholic too. We really didn’t need that did we?
Yeah. I said the same in my 51. It’s not being a downer. That’s alot of absentees for such a close district where the majority of people a R’s. But it’s a good point about te media not being able to use the “Loss For Obama” line.

All Saints Episcopal. They are the ones who were investigated by the IRS because they preached out against the war.
I’m giving Pope… what’s his name… gregory or somethin?… and ultimatum today. This religion is not big enough for me and Newt. Somebody’s gotta go. Either he gets excommunicated or I walk.
thanks.
Try being an Episcopalian — “soft shelled Catholic,” with all the good stuff like liturgy without the Pope and notorious pedophiles. Works for me!
When my daughter rec’d her first Communion, part of the ceremony was to have the mothers stand behind them at the altar rail while they rec’d. Then the mothers would receive Communion. The priest told us that if any of us were divorced, just to step back as he didn’t deem divorcees as worthy to receive. There was huge outrage. Not to mention the embarassment it would cause the little ones. We were really ticked. To avoid more conflict, we just did away with that part of the ceremony.
Now they bring in Newt fucking Gingrich??
My pastor called me yesterday to ask if I would help with some special readings for this Sunday. I declined, reminding her that the kids will be doing a little play and song in the service, and I want to sit with them, ya know. She told me she didn’t think we’d have time in the service for that and we could do it another time. We’ve been practicing for a couple months.
I might be in the mood to walk also. :(
See my 63.
I’m thinking about checking them out. I’ve been before, but not for a long, long time.
I dunno. My approach is to just ignore that type of bullshit. Jest say “yeah. Right. OK.” And if you want to receive cimmunion, go ahead.
I may be biased as a “cradle Episcopalian,” but I wandered away from church for years and when I came back I stayed. Do a bit of “parish shopping” until you find one that fits your style. I’ve found it extremely refreshing to listen to sermons on the Gospel on Sunday mornings, with no hint of politics.
At my father in law’s funeral, I couldn’t take communion, not being a Catholic. Priest said non-catholics could stand in line, but to cross our arms across our chests and he would merely bless us. I did that. Out of respect for the family. Oh, brother.
Shopping for Jesus. Yeah, I might have to do that. It’s been a topic at our house for a while.
Everyone must believe in something
I believe I’ll go fishing
I’d be calling your doctor IMMEDIATELY. Also, if you have a State organization (not sure where you’re from), the pharmacist should be reported, along with the pharmacy.
In my State (Connecticut), our AG would have had folks all over that.
I have a trinket for you demi, my prediction was right on the money
