A month ago in this space, I expressed skepticism about President Obama’s announced plan for withdrawing from Iraq — not so much because he was backing down from the timeline he campaigned on, but rather because the generals assigned to implement the plan might think he was.

A report today from the Christian Science Monitor, saying U.S. troops may skip the June 2009 deadline for pulling out of major cities, doesn’t make me feel any better.

In a poll taken before the Obama endorsement ad was released in the district, the Republican has fallen four points behind in a district with a 70+k registration advantage. Maybe trying to nationalize the election as a referendum on the stimulus package isn’t working out for them…
