Clueless Evan Bayh Doesn’t Know We’re in a Recession |
| By: Scarecrow Thursday March 5, 2009 11:32 am |
Senator Evan Bayh frets over the fact that the current fiscal year budget reconciliation bill will increase government deficit spending. Someone should remind the clueless Bayh that he just voted for a $787 billion stimulus bill. . . because deficit spending is exactly what the economy needs.

Lobbyist Cat Fight over Health Care Reform: PhRMA vs. AHIP |
| By: Jane Hamsher Thursday March 5, 2009 9:30 am |
PhRMA to AHIP: “People who are interested in health care reform need to be focused on building support for the President’s efforts right now. This is the time for coming together, not engaging in the kind of scare tactics we all resorted to in the past.”
AHIP, in their previous incarnation HIAA, produced the famous “Harry and Louise” ads. So I think we all know what tht means.
OLC Memos: The FISA Dance in the Wake of 9/11 |
| By: emptywheel Thursday March 5, 2009 8:50 am |
Looseheadprop asks some good questions about the September 25, 2001 opinion on FISA David Kris requested from OLC. Who Will Slay the Limbaugh Dragon? |
| By: Jane Hamsher Thursday March 5, 2009 7:06 am |
I know, I know. This subject has been talked to death. But there is a huge vacuum at the top of the Republican Party that is currently being filled by Rush Limbaugh’s ever-expanding ego. We’re about half way through some Joseph Campbell hero cycle, where many noble challengers have boldly stepped forward to slay the beast but all have been forced to kneel and kiss the cyst.
Rove and Miers to Testify: What Would You Ask? |
| By: Christy Hardin Smith Thursday March 5, 2009 6:00 am |
The House Judiciary Committee will question Karl Rove and Harriet Miers regarding two distinct but interrelated subjects: the USAtty firings and the Siegelman prosecution. As Marcy reported, the questioning will be done on the record, transcribed and given under penalty of perjury. More importantly, the committee will also receive all of the documents they’ve been requesting for quite some time prior to the testimony, including a number of missing e-mails.
