Bob Corker’s wailing up a storm because Obama hasn’t busted the UAW yet. And then he’s wailing up a storm to keep his UAW GM plant in TN.

Speaking of benchmarks for measuring the success or failure of the Obama administration’s Af-Pak strategy, we, uh, don’t have them yet. Bruce Riedel, chairman of the review committee that came up with the strategy, explained to reporters on Friday:

Obama Moves GM and Chrysler Towards Bankruptcy |

Let me start by saying I’m non-plussed by the call for Rick Wagoner’s head. I think Wagoner was making the right moves recently, but he was also responsible for years of inaction. So I’m not sorry to see him gone. In any case, Obama is forcing out the entire board of GM, so Wagoner would have had to go anyway.

Obama to GM: No More Bailout Money Unless You Break Your Contracts |
| By: Jane Hamsher Monday March 30, 2009 9:52 am |
Let me start by saying that I approve of Obama’s decision to force the hands of GM bond holders. They have been refusing to settle with GM, hoping that the government will come in and bail them out at full value. If GM goes bankrupt, they get nothing.
When Bill Gross snaps his fingers, the Fed jumps.

Marcy noted earlier the article in today’s Washington Post by Peter Finn and Joby Warrick detailing the story surrounding abu-Zubaydah’s capture and torture. I want to pick up where Marcy left off; i.e. the evidence that nothing was obtained from abu-Zubaydah’s torture is the reason the torture tapes destroyed.

Governor Tim Kaine is reported set to sign into Virginia law a bill that will ban funding for research on human stem cells.
What is Right for Virginia gives us this:
“It seems like we finally have some brains in Washington, and while the Federal government takes a step forward, the state takes a step back”, said Mr.

Felix Salmon and Tyler Durden note that banks are showing huge profits in January and February as AIGFT unwinds its contracts. “The size of these unwinds were enormous, the quotes I have heard were ‘we have never done as big or as profitable trades — ever’” said one correlation desk trader.
Sick Around America: Half-Assed Health Insurance Doesn’t Work |
| By: Christy Hardin Smith Monday March 30, 2009 6:00 am |
This infuriates me. And not just because I have a pre-existing condition that would likely have me on the “insurance blacklist.” It’s especially timely because growing numbers are looking for individual health insurance after losing their jobs. On top of that, small businesses, which make up the bulk of South Florida’s economy, are frequently finding health policies too expensive and are dropping coverage, sending even more people shopping for insurance….
