It highlights in a very public way so much of what is wrong with republicans: their cravenness, their hypocrisy, their self-absorption, their desire not to be helpful, their rotten to the coreness, etc.</p> <p>Average Americans of all stripes don’t want the president to fail because they don’t want America to fail and because they identify with the presidency conflating the office and the person. They will not take kindly to public displays of rooting for failure. Doing so will only continue to help shrink republicans back under their rock from where they came and belong.
