Hey, ES, enjoying a quiet Friday?
do i gotta wear a poodle skirt?
Hey Eureka!
Hey, I’ve got one of those…..unless one of my girls ‘appropriated’ it.
Good evening all. Almost anything goes at the Poodle Club.
Just got here. Is Teddy around?
Hey Loo Hoo. Saw him in the last thread, but early.
Wouter Hamel! Never ever underestimate the influence of Brian Setzer.
I used to sell poodle skirts… hard to find the originals these days.
Come on Pups and DIGG this Friday Nite Late Late Nite!!
Hi ES hows the Wing doing??
Evening Pups!!
Didn’t think about that… definitely could be true.
If you see him will you ask him to email me, newt? I have an idea on same sex marriage.
You’d look dahling in that, Suz!
What? Where did you sell poodle skirts?!
you bet
Hi nahant. how are you? It’s hangin’… waiting on summer I suppose.
Darlin’ I owned a couple of high end vintage clothing stores for many years.
We are close to Summer here it hit 80 today!(:>)) What a beautiful day today was here in the Bay area!!
I may use this Poodle Club idea from time to time in the future.
So I want take a survey..
Do you all like the name Poodle Club or Club Poodle best?
OMG, ES. That’s my dream job! Did you get to keep the best of the goodies?
OT: just watching 20/20 on the juvenile judges who ’sold’ kids into placement for profit. Sickening. Having worked for years in a juvenile court, I know that most probation officers and judges do everything possible to heal families and kids prior to last-ditch placement. Greed is dispicable. These guys should rot.
Everything is blooming here… and we have a chance of snow all day tomorrow.. KS City might get a foot… neuro may be outside shoveling snow now. /s
Thanks, newt!
I like Poodle Club. Like the tunes, ES, thanks.;)
Poodle Club
Oh I know, I couldn’t watch it all. I wanted to get my hands on them…
nahant..hot in San Diego too. Cools off quickly when the sun disappears, though.
Of course! LOL No, not always… but there was plenty to go around. I have a four bedroom house and two are entire closets, now down to one… it’s ridiculous.
Glad to hear that story garnered their attention. Rot he should. So said we have to wonder if he will.
Speaking of spring…..I was up in Santa Barbara at my daughter’s house and when I got out of my car it was as if stepping into a flower shop…..warm and aromatic. I got a burst of hope! (And, sadly, a dose of sinus-reaction — but, hey, good with the bad, you know?)
Here also but last I looked it was still in the high 60’s.
Club Poodle. It may leave room for other really snooty dogs. Know what I mean? If it’s a club, the poodles would need to decide on further members. I mean, would the poodles accept labradoodles? What if the Obamas decided on one?
And most importantly, WHAT WOULD JANE SAY???
Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears will be touring with Robert Randolph this year…. I think these guys will make it to the big time.
Yes… we like hounds and mutts… a lot!
What fun! Keep good pics. Share!
Stick with the hope part!
I’m clinging desperately.
In these times of trouble it tickles me to think about Club Poodle or Poodle Club…..I need that kind of diversion much more than the shiney things like teleprompter madness and such. I’m still deliberating with myself — I’ll get back to you with my vote. Arf, as they say.
Hey ES! Did you ever come upon a Fortuny dress?
If you’ve not yet read this, for your own entertainment, please do.
I changed it up above just to see how it rolls with the eye. Yeah, teleprompter stories are good for about ten minutes to an hour in my book.
Three… during my early years. Two were on forms… one wasn’t and was worse for the wear. That last one I bought was nearly twenty years ago. We had our tailor make a pattern from one.
I apologize, the link should have been: http://www.alternet.org/mediac…..ht/?page=1
Yeah, but for the ‘crew’ the diversion goes on and on. My twin brother called me breathlessly to tell me all about the teleprompter nonsense. I calmed him down…..and several days later he admits that Obama’s using a teleprompter is no big deal……except! “A president ought to be able to give a few minutes opening remarks without a teleprompter.” Damn, those rightists get so sucked in!
worked for me the first time. and boo, hoo, hoo.
I read the original on Wed. Infuriating, but what do we expect when we can’t fire them, much less throw them in jail.
Three! Wow! Were they the pleated dresses that swirled down into a box? Ms. CE did her senior thesis on Fortuny, and one dress in the Western Reserve Historical Society.
Who’s “we”?
Well, shit. For whatever reason, it wouldn’t work for me when I tested it, as I’ve learned to do. ;-)
In any case, thanks for making me feel better. ;-)
What bothered me, was the fact he has a list of whom to call upon when taking questions. Don’t know why, but it annoyed me.
Good link the first time, wigwam.
OMG, Christine. Do you have photos to share by any chance?
Dude: IMHO, this is a scam simply to transfer money from the taxpayers to the walllstreeters. Obama is the guy in charge of telling us when to bend over and how far.
Yeah, I didn’t much care for that either…..except that he got to some diverse questioners. And there didn’t seem to be a need for a Gannon/Guckert to smooth things out ;)~~
Club Poodle! woo
Such a delight
How do you like my cat’s eyes?
Got my saddle shoes on; no poodle skirt, tho — hope the peddle pushers are nice enough for your Club Poodle.
I’ll try to do some digging tomorrow and show you which styles. that era of dress wasn’t my forte (not wearable.. don’t even handle it more than absolutely necessary).. just something I knew was special and needed to be in a museum. I sold a couple to a museum for less than a private collector would have paid… bartered with the other.
Me and my crew.
I’ve had the opposite reaction, ES. I think it’s really healthy that no news organization gets to assume they will get the question they like. This is really a BIG move on Obama’s part. Nobody gets to assume superiority. Plus, Obama can say FU to any news organization out to screw him.
No, Loo Hoo,
I do not. She did this thesis for her senior year at Case in 2002. But the dress is still in the collection of Western Reserve Historical Society.
Why is the picture a mirror image??
I cannot buy it completely. Yet.
He is intelligent and possibly brilliant guy. But to suggest that he has a grasp of the finance schemes beyond the dudes who perpetrated it – not so much. That is both too simple and too complex.
He is instead overly trusting in his minions, in my humble opinion. And personally overconfident in his decision to charge them with fixing this.
Yup….. I mince no words about it now. The criminals are in charge…through and through. And unless you are screaming in real plain english that’s the fact and that it must stop… you are a criminal too.
I think old wing nut Michelle Bachman (or some other wing nut).. could spark a Republican populist uprising if saner minds don’t accomplish it first.
Who knows, maybe we need a populist Republican uprising.
Hiya Loo Hoo!
You don’t have one, by chance?
Evening all.
Maybe a W ear-piece leak is imminent…
False equivalence being what it is.
Evenin’ ES !
Presidents have always had a list of names to call.
They get the questions that want to be asked and then they get to decide the order in which to call the reporters.
Don’t ask for photos … that’s darkblack’s cue … *g*
I so appreciate this! Love what ES is doing with fashion too. I never really appreciated the value of fashion until recently. I remember as a kid in Barrett, Minnesota standing over the furnace with the encyclopedia showing fashion pics from ancient times to the then current times.
It really is fascinating.
If his bullshit meter is so poor he really trusts Gaithner and Summers….. well.
And come on.. I am an ordinary person who simply takes the time to read about it… and I get the fact we are all named Ben Dover!
So, not to be contrary, but … this Taibbi article is dated 3/26 and … Wednesday was 3/25. So, perhaps this was a different article. Ya, think?
Call it bullshit meter, or not knowing he is out of his depth…
This plan as configured will fail. He has verbally, publicly, stridently said right into TV cameras that if his econ plan is not successful, he will be a one-termer. And we know no President wants that.
I think he is just plain wrong, and as yet unable to either conceive it, or do anything to reconfigure.
Alternatively, is it that the plan will work, but just not as well as it could?
Good evening Petrocelli and SunnyN.
For me, and Ms. CE, I have to tell you that our fashion sense started by shopping in thrift stores and the like.
Oh I was referring to the letter. (Could have the day wrong)
If it works …the criminals are still in charge… it won’t last long. Maybe he will be able to ride all these trillions through a soft bubble effect and get reelected. These few million recently unemployed, even if the bleeding stops, will get restless and run out of benefits..
I’m sure they are looking for the next bubble… nothing indicates a real fix or long term sound economic model/plan. Except… same as it ever was, which is wishful thinking at best.
Obama is denying common sense here, imo. You just don’t reward criminals and expect them to not bite you in the arse.
As a teen I spent two summers on the coast in the old family home of folks who had been mega-rich during the age of opulance.. Estate had not been settled and closets were full of fabulous old clothes. Three great wedding dresses included.
Wonderful fun going through the stuff – hats to die for. Dresses were unbelievably tiny..
Dresses were unbelievably tiny …
Child Brides ? *g*
Hey, ES
we got a sprinkling of snow today, all melted, but they are forecasting 5 or 6 inches tonight and another 5 to 8 inches tomorrow…shovel snow? I think I will just stay home and work on my taxes…
Okay, if you doubt that he has an iron grasp, please read his previous article, The Big Takeover. I’ll simply say that that article convinced me. But, to support my opinion, I can cite articles by Krugman, Stiglitz, Galbraith, Dean Baker, Roubini, etc.
For but one example: http://www.thenation.com/doc/20090406/greider
I am as angry as anyone that the denizens of disaster will walk. But as sharp as he might be, I can’t believe he sees the scope of this as an experienced commodities trader or speculator does.
So if relying on the wrong people is denial, fine. But he is doing it out of arrogance or ignorance, or measures of each, and not because he ’sees’ it. He is no more capable of understanding the ins’n’outs of this mess than anyone who does not reside in that byzantine world.
Problem is they will be biting us all in the arse. The next few years are going to be interesting and very difficult. The banks will win in the short run. They don’t understand how pissed people are and will be. The tide will turn back to the people but not after a huge power struggle. When government and corporations unite to take away the dignity of the citizens, the citizens will respond.
No, Christine. Sorry. But I’m guessing that google images might have some pretties.
Several of my friends read Jake’s letter and were fuming. When they read Matt’s article, they were felling the catharsis of those who lack a mouth but have to scream.
Right. Dangerous territory.
Reliance on the byzantines to fix their own mess… seems to be the problem. As you know and wigwam just listed their names (among many others). There are alternatives.
O is all we have, but being nice about it… won’t wake him up. Like I say.. i’m almost cheering for Bachman’s outrage at this point.
At least somebody is screaming on the television and in DC.
IMHO, they’ll surely win in the Obama run. So, whom do WE have for 2012 and/or 2016?
I had glasses like that in 6th grade, only they were tortoiseshell.
Who said anything about nice?
Tonight I cannot think that far ahead or that hard.
You too????
Is Bachman pissed about the same things we are pissed about?
Scary. But I think the answer is yes.
Christine, I’m retiring this year and interested in making some fun bucks. What is it that you and your partner do if you don’t mind sharing some trade secrets??
I’ve got to say that as I watched Olbermann tonight and watch Backman, there were several points where, to the disgust of my family, I jumped up and screamed “right on.”
OH, please. Share pictures with your friends!!
When government and corporations unite to take away the dignity of the citizens, the citizens will respond.
I think it’s already happened and will require a bit more…The country seems to be in shock… like many of us have been for years. It all just feels like a new chapter in the shock doctrine to me.
Read it twice.
He has the wrong soldiers deployed in the wrong places at the wrong time. And if he gets scalded for it, I am, while greatly disappointed in his bad choices, not unhappy that he will not be reelected. This is THE big one, and he is fucking it up.
I wanted rhinestones.
Love tortoiseshell…
altho I suppose the tortoise doesn’t appreciate such admiration
Not you.. I mean the general tone of we the pe’s overall.
Hey! Insomnia rules there too…
Yes, but she doesn’t know it, yet. She still needs to blame liberals and chit.
Oops! It appears that we got out of synch (through my fault) as to what “he” referred to. I was referring to Matt Taibbi as “he” back at #77. It appears that you took me to be referring to Obama. No way in Hell. ;-)
yes please!
Ah.
During the Taibbi visit a few days ago, I asked him what surprised him the most about the scope and scale of this mess, as he begun writing the piece. I even assumed he had some background in the subject, which gave him a head start in following the trail.
He answered back that he started the investigation with no clue at all about the subject(s), and as he followed the trail, was constantly dumbstruck at what had happened.
Morpheus is late! I expected him an hour ago.
Taibbi seems pretty angry on the last few interviews I saw on the teevee machine. We need more sincerely incredulous people out front like he is.
No bullet-train for spectral beings? :-(
good, i’m not alone
tw3k!
how goes?
Tall children ) Actually, they were pretty young.. Wedding portraits were about..
wazzzzzup!
Show us some new art.
I did a mural like thing and a sculpture but I didn’t get shots of them :’(
The mural was fun, i carved-out this building motif in an old plaster wall exposing the brick around a charcoal of fauve kali.
Hey tw3k!
I had no idea until just a few months back that you had art in you.
Hey, how is “New York” these days?
Hey ES :)
I’ve listened to Taibbi on TV and radio this past week, but nothing compares to his writing. Here are three of my favorites in order of recency:
* http://www.alternet.org/mediac…..ht/?page=1
* http://www.rollingstone.com/po…..g_takeover
* http://www.exile.ru/articles/d…..LOCK_ID=35
Interesting. Yup, love the art! I’m in MI now, just below EW. gotta <3 NYC tho :)
Taibbi is an amazingly brilliant guy. Also, what amazes me is how little of that brilliance shows forth when he is interviewed on TV. But get him at a keyboard, and even Jon Stewart would have to stand back.
His book, Great Derangement was really good.
So, I need to read that, simply for the sake of therapy. Sort of like reading Hunter Thompson.
I told him in his FDL visit this week.. he, Stewart and Colbert needed to hit the U.S House… call it laughing the gates or something.
Yes, but things are moving so fast.. I don’t know if I would go back and read it right now. If I had a long plane flight perhaps.
He can do TV.
Wish I had some to share. I was an oblivious teenager, not a picture taker. Everything was about the present :-(
Sure got a lot of practice immediately following his claim here that he couldn’t do it well. *s*
Did he do Tv with Jane, or was that radio?
Anyone who writes in this country an article entitled, “God Can Suck My Cock,” needs to be read. I don’t much care what he writes after that. Until he writes something really lame, everything he writes needs to be read.
And so far, he has been up to the standard he set.
GritTV.
Hi! Thought you were in the midlantic.
Dare I ask about your birdie?
birdie is good :) it actually followed me and is issuing me commanding chirps from his location near my new window.
Thanks… I’ll load it while I sleep…. Grit is a bear to download. :(
Anyway, think I will turn in.
Good night fabulous firedogs
nite es
nite eureka
nite ES. Thanks for the hospitality.
I want another birdie picture …. please ;-)
I’ll get one soon. There a lot of kites soaring in the sunshine as well. I love how they just hang in the air, pivot, roll and ride the breeze.
How do you pronounce Taibbi’s name?
(I’ve only read him, not seen him)
Tie-eebee
ti-ayi-be
Thank you sir..
heebee-jeebee

“potatoes-potahtoes – let’s call the whole thing off” *g*
Hey, I hope y’all watched Bill Moyers’ Journal tonight. In case you didn’t, the segment on William Greider and his new book, COME HOME AMERICA: THE RISE AND FALL (AND REDEEMING PROMISE) OF OUR COUNTRY, was particularly good.
The Journal website also has a good page on “The New Bailout Debate,” with evaluations of the Geithner plan.
And also, if you have a question for President Obama, Moyers has his own place to voice your question:
–and providing space for you to add your own questions.
Good stuff!
Bob in HI
We may have been born in the wrong time :-)
nite pups
lol :)
Hey Newt! thanks for that GritTV link. Damn good stuff.
indeed we may have /no s..
Going to see if we’ve got any farmers at the market
tomorrow amtoday. Nite all.Morning, folks; it is a balmy 34 in Upstate NY this morning; overcast skies but we have hopes of some sun.
Good morning. It’s 44 in New Paltz, and overcast. Yesterday was gorgeous: sunny with a high of 62.
Hi, Toby & Sunny (if you’re still about) -
Heading out shortly for the annual Herb & Garden Fair at an historic plantation an hour up the road. They had fab stuff last year (including sets of baby bok choy) and will likely have an increased selection of heirloom veggie plants this year. Overcast and probably rainy but the event goes on……gardeners could care less whether they’re shopping in the rain or not. *G*
Aw, a little rain just makes things more interesting……
Sprinkles, yes; downpour….. depends on yer definition of “interesting”. *G* Packin’ the poncho.
It finally is warm enough for me to turn on the outside water, so yesterday I cleaned out my bird boxes and put them back out. Too late for blue birds, though. This year I’ve got to clean the boxes in the autumn, so I can put them out in February, which is what the blue bird book recommends.
The line in the sand for me is ‘does it require me to put on rubber boots?” Under that is a yes…over that…very questionable.
Gone to the fair…..tell Pfifferling “hi” for me if she shows up for PUAC.
*poof*
Good morning, pups. Bob Herbert is off today, and Gail Collins tells us “How to Train a Governor.” She says the political free fall of Gov. David Paterson of New York isn’t from any big personal scandal. He has alienated the public just by being terrible at his job. I confess I haven’t been paying much attention to what’s been going on in New York State since I moved down here almost 20 years ago, but it seems that the state legislature hasn’t changed much…
Here she is.
The coffee, tea and hot chocolate are ready, and I’ve got waffles with warm maple syrup this morning. Today it’s time to plant a second batch of radishes, and a few more lettuce seeds. The first radishes are coming along nicely, and the first lettuces have their first true leaves. Spring has finally decided to stay here, and that means that it’s also on its way up to you folks farther north. If you’re not familiar with him you might consider looking at Edwin Way Teale’s book “North With the Spring.” It’s lovely. Have a great day.
Morning Marion — as a NYS resident and political observer, I think that I can say that one of the major mistakes Paterson made when he took power was that he allowed his extreme dislike for Eliot Spitzer and anyone connected with him to extend to his throwing out all of Spitzer’s people and trying to start from scratch…right when things were going to hell in a handbasket. Not that I hold any brief for Spitzer or any of his people(esp those that got themselves involved in Troopergate and Brunogate), but Paterson could really have used keeping some of the old hands around for a while and training and transitioning some people instead of throwing the baby out with the bathwater..
I have no idea why Paterson’s so bad, just observe that he is. Gillibrand for senate, of all people, among other things. Seems like he figures out what to do by selecting the option that pisses off most people.
OK…time to get the coffee cups and drag the chairs…Pull Up a Chair is upstairs!!!
