Re “paging Ben and Tim” . . .

If they propose setting up an FDIC-like arrangement to handle the closure of distressed non-bank financial institutions, will they go all the way and (a) make it independent of Treasury, like the FDIC, and (b) require all the non-bank financial institutions to pony up the cash to fund the new operation?

These Wall Street firms aren’t going to like any kind of oversight to begin with, and if someone wants them to pay for their own oversight, they’re going to get downright whiny.

For the KO fanatics here’s an interview with KO on WEDU last Friday evening. In the Video On Demand box scroll down to the Florida This Week link.

The interviewer is Rob Lorei, News Director of WMNF Tampa. In the late 1970s he and a few folks went door-to-door collecting money to start a community radio station. Today WMNF is a leading community-based station in the US.

Lot of old time union music on the radio this morning. The battle for EFCA rages on. Whole Foods and 2 other companies have formed a coalition to fight it. Methinks the bosses be scared. The more the workers make the less the bosses take home. Awwwwwww. Tell your friends about the IWW.

re “You stay classy, wingnuts.

“That’s what he’s married to,” Bruce said. “…You know what we’ve got? We’ve got trash in the White House. Trash is a thing that is colorblind, it can cross all eco-socionomic…categories. You can work on Wall Street, or you can work at the Wal-Mart. Trash, are people who use other people to get things, who patronize others, who consider you bitter and clingy…”

I give up. Is there a point in there somewhere amidst all that painful projection?

Thanks for the Tammy Bruce nuttiness….her other rant was about the Special Olmpics. She said that awful joke told us about his “soul” that he would joke about the weakest who contribute so much. I think she had forgotten w’s jokes about the WMDs and all the murdered. She likes that soul. And she confided that Pres. O does not read his daily intelligence briefing like the well-informed W started his day; Ooooooooh. She is a nut case + mean.

Probably y’all are way ahead of me on this, but I stumbled onto Matt Taibbi’s explanation of what’s wrong with the Bailout yesterday and I’m still in a head-fog at the willful blindness of… well, everyone involved. Here it is, I urge you to read it if you haven’t already.

So she probably wouldn’t like my assertion that Eric Cantor is the only guy to have won re-election to Congress in the same year that he was denied a spot on the local Special Olympics Brain-Game team, huh?

Anyone who would call Michelle Obama ‘trash’ is trashy themselves. There is NOTHING trashy about Michelle in the way she is, the way she conducts herself, and they way she treats others around her.

Sarah Palin on the other hand. Holy cow! Traaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaashy, if you ask me. That woman would sell her daughters to the Saudi royals if it meant she could get some nice clothes and a hefty bank account (or could have the royals kill off the family members she hates).

Okay, going to work. Have a great day everyone.

I point out that torture is endemic in the U.S. The CIA has always done it, and if you want earlier history, read the story of how the U.S. handled the Philippines insurgency.

Turley pointed out on Rachel last night that, by refusing to torture those W officials who were responsible for it, Obama becomes part of the crime.

Sorry, I did not hear that part…something about when she was visiting a school, TB threw in something about her being upset because the kids didn’t know who she is…Like others I knew nothing about her, talks at hihg volume and top speed insulting about everything that comes out of her mouth. I just knew all was lost when she was affirming the way w started his day reading the intelligence material…Big whhoop. Sort of like Jindal cheering the LA success after Katrina. Talk about missing some brain cells…;)

Oooh! Excellent! Thanks for cueing me into Taibbi’s presence here today.
I keep trying to figure out what Geithner is trying to do with the economy, and the best I can figure is that he’s not trying to “fix” it, he’s trying to re-animate a corpse. Put everything back to status quo ante and pretend that it was all a fluke. But without real fundamental changes in the way we do business (even with Wall Street clapping and wishing as hard as they can), it’s at best just kicking the can down the road, it’ll all happen all over again, and soon.

But I expect the appointment is using a CIA legend to wheedle his way in. It’s a certainty he was involved in torture. He wants to seem a bit contrite in a piss-poor way that only the CIA could come up with.

When the hell are we going to call Paulson to account. He has swindled us out of billions of dollars for his and his pals profit. Geitner is complicit in the swindle. Will we ever force these crooks to face the music? No, not until we get a president with some balls.

I sent off to you a bunch of great economic quotes, this one is in there, right on point so I need to post it here, it seems to describe our president and his dilema

Woodrow Wilson (1912): “We have been dreading all along the time when the combined power of high finance would be greater that the power of the government. Have we come to a time when the President of the United States or any man who wishes to be President, must doff his cap in the presence of this high finance, and say ‘you are our inevitable master, but we will see how we can make the best of it’?”

off to work, see all later

Obama’s Laugh???

What most people are not discerning is, is that Pres. Obama is somehow aiding us in facing this “shadow” or darkness of greed in our society. He is not trying to Hide it or Cover it up! Ironically, he is being blamed for not trying to Fix it in a hurry, so it will not be Exposed….. But to truly fix it, we must face it, identify it and generate enough public consensus so that it can be changed. That is how change is made. That is why I see Pres. Obama as really a true change agent. True and lasting change can only come from the people, demanding change. That is why Obama can laugh, he knows that the fat cats’ days of unchecked greed and speculation are numbered!

Now GOP’s new buzz word is “unsustainable”, however, what was really “unsustainable” as the recent events so adequately portray is that George Bush’s Iraq War, tax cuts to the wealthy, jobs going over seas, tax breaks to companies that shipped jobs over seas, deregulation of banks and insurance companies, and more (which I will leave to the experts to flush out), is the really true Unsustainable and break down and collapse of our economic system, fabric of society (bridges, roads, jobs, education), you name it, he failed in all aspects of this society. There are “tent” cities popping up all over United States because families can no longer sustain to live in a house because they no longer have a job!

This new buzz word “unsustainable” is a hoax, disingenous and hypocritical. Remember, they want Pres. Obama to Fail!

And lastly, let’s be Clear, George W. Bush’s first year in office was spent more at the Ranch then in Washington. Where was the Party of No’s outrage then? May be if George had spent more time in D.C. working, they would have been more alert about the signs leading to 9/11, just a thought…..
