I’m on firefox right now. the picture at the top of this post (presumably a link to a video) is not showing. instead, it says, “Click here to download plugin.”

I have downloaded the plugin, but I can’t get it to install, it says I must first close firefox

so when I close firefox, I no longer have the link to the download

so how do I install when I’m offline? how do I locate the downloaded file?

OPen FF under tools select downloads, then close just the browser part NOT the DOWNLOAD dialog window!! Then select the plugin and install;l it! Should be pretty straight forward!!

On a cautionary note be careful if they want to do an MRI with contrast, if they do make sure they use Prohance and at 1/2 dosage. There are a whole lot of people out there who have been harmed by the other contrasts. From the Yahoo group I am a member of: nfd_support@yahoogroups.com

That’s much worse than the 1 in 12 million chance of getting NSF from using Multihance or the 1 in 22 million chance of possibly getting NSF ( no one has yet) from Prohance. The bad agents are things like Omniscan which has a 1 in 2100 chance of giving you NSF if you have renal failure. (And that was with a single dose). It is much higher if you get more than one scan in a week with Omniscan. There are people who still use Omniscan and OptiMark.

or if I close the “Adobe Flash Player Plugin Setup” box, I still am on the downloads page, the box goes away but nothing else happens…no install…

Can’t leave the doors open here right now – they’ll blow off their hinges.

OK OK Now you need to know whetre FF puts the downloaded files! Under tools open Options and under main at the bottom half it will tell you where FF puts the file. After that just go there and open the Adobe installation package.. Then follow the prompts.. Oh and be sure you close FF and it’s dialog boxes!!

I hope this means you got it to download and you need to reopen FF to complete installation,

OK this is odd. I’m on a mac which I believe neuro is not. I had trouble with safari crashing on friday and saturday… warning said it was a plug in of some kind. Anyway i thought it might be an adobe problem, tried to update and could never get it to install.. even with browsers closed.

My question is what’s going on with adobe plug in screw ups across different platforms right now? Or is this just coincidence?

I have a theory on that after living through several extreme illnesses in our family, very serious events. Compounded by 7 surgeries of my own, as the primary home maker. You know the saying, ” When Mom ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.”? It’s true.
We, as a national community, have forgotten that community health is best provided by local community clinics. We got so smitten with the concept of specialists who could save you from death. We forgot the ground roots of our own “animal social-tribe” needs. Love, Nurture,Heal,Thrive,Endure,Survive. I would add Cherish. It’s probably already interwoven within all those words.
Probably Defend needs to be there at some point.
What happened to the Free Clinics of my youth in Haight-Ashbury? Was it just too socialist to stop the rise of STD’s and end pregnancies in the 1st trimester? The fertilized egg stage? In those days anyone who walked into the clinic in need of help was helped. For whatever medical reason, even if it meant transferring them to ER.
I miss that. Can we have that back as Local Jobs?

you didn’t….. at some point the critical event will happen and there is NO public health….. not enough doctors, nurses or hospital beds…… Flu and other diseases run in cycles……. public and free clinics help patients get help but also plugs them into other services, drug rehab, clean needle programs, etc……

The piece sounds like it could have been ghost written by Larry Summers. Sanctity of contracts, the only people who understand these things, these AIG employees are being “heavily recruited”, etc. On this last one, I would like to know what fly by night Wall Street firms are interested in these guys. I would like names if of course there is any truth to this. I mean what do their resumes say? “Have experience running world’s largest insurance company into the ground, think what I could do to your company.”

The CIA’s secret interrogation of the 14 “high-value detainees” it is holding amounted to torture, the International Committee of the Red Cross says.

The charge is contained in published excerpts of the ICRC’s 2006 internal report due to appear in the April 9 issue of the New York Review of Books.

The ICRC report was obtained by Mark Danner, a journalist and professor at the University of California at Berkeley.

The 14 prisoners were visited by the ICRC after they were moved from secret interrogation sites and prisons to Guantanamo Bay naval base in 2006.

Private access to the detainees, whose nationalities are not given, was granted by George Bush, the former US president.

The neutral, Swiss-based ICRC is designated by the Geneva Conventions on warfare to visit prisoners of war to ensure countries respect their obligations under the 1949 accords.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed a systematic closing of the medical field by new “rules and regulations”? It’s pretty frightening when you get a brief inside view. My medical guy,P.A. because he went through medical school and rejected the insurance requirements for doctors. Also a Vietnam vet so he fit into our[ my husband’s a Vietnam vet, I’m a Vietnam protester] profile. I think we need a whole lot more Physician’s Assistants and a lot less Specialists.
My medical guy for 20 years just retired because of the new fascist style constraints being placed on health care people. If you say a patients full name into the waiting room you’re violating privacy. If you walk out with a patient’s chart turned the wrong way and their full name is exposed, you violate privacy. And “they” have plants that roam and collect observations. Fines and penalties, threats and intimidation.
We all know this is happening. The reason I could discuss with my health care provider was because I’d read about this shit happening.
I miss him!!!!!!

I was all figety today about why AIG jerks should get bonuses because they had ‘contracts’ — I kept thinking of the auto workers who had ‘contracts’ and got shafted, the airline pilots who had ‘contracts’ for pensions and got shafted, and on and on. Today, thank god, some NPR programs had speakers who called bullshit on the ‘contracts’ talking point. Now we’ll see if anyone has the balls to take on the greedsters. One can but hope.

And no, I haven’t noticed, been self employed for most of my adult life. Either uninsured or might as well have been because the fear of using insurance for basics… causing high rates to go higher… meant health care was only for dire emergencies.

btw, I appreciate privacy protections, but it won’t be as important when we are all covered and can’t be dropped.

Now that would be something if NPR came back into the fold. Put the Public back into NPR. Can’t quite trust them, but my heart longs to hold them in the esteem I was raised with.

I do think that PAs will be more important….and I think high quality RNs are equally important. Personally, I’ve had mis-medication twice by a certain PA who shall remain nameless (though I did tell her supervising MD.) Give me a good medic any time. It’s, I think, about getting the middle men out of the equation — too, way too!, much of our medical dollars go to insurance companies and medical paper pushers. Get back to real medical care.

I have two of them at the VA that I trust more than some of the Doctors… If they say they will do something for you they get it done! Not so much for some of the doctors. I will be giving my primary Care Doc crap as he didn’t renew all my prescriptions last visit so now I will hold him to the computer and make him renew them all in front of me so I know it gets done!!

Worked in an ER 25 years ago for a summer. Left thoroughly disgusted.. every facet of the medical business evolved around money. Patients were far down the list of concerns except in fear of lawsuits.

I really think PA’s ,RN’s, LPN’s are the real line of defense in community health care. We’ve become so specialist enamored that it affects our basic health care. Which should be prevention and check-ups. Regularly. By people in your neighborhood. With basic clinics. And cheap blood tests.
It seems to me that sometimes our fear of death overrides our value of life. It seems like our culture can’t face the reality of death. To the point that we’ll inflict horrific events on other people because we’re afraid we might die. As a national policy. As an agreed upon taxpayer expense.
