Dooo-doo-doo-do, doo-do, doo-do it’s over.
Family Research Council Action President Tony Perkins released the following statement in response to Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele’s interview with GQ magazine.
"I read the article last night so I am familiar not only with his comments about the life issue but also about the efforts to redefine marriage and ‘mucking’ up the constitution. I expressed my concerns to the chairman earlier this week about previous statements that were very similar in nature. He assured me as chairman his views did not matter and that he would be upholding and promoting the Party platform, which is very clear on these issues. It is very difficult to reconcile the GQ interview with the chairman’s pledge.
"Before making further public statements regarding Mr. Steele’s interview and what impact it may have upon social conservative support for the RNC I will give him an opportunity to respond to a message I’ve sent him regarding the matter."
As Joan Walsh notes,
Michael Steele, we’re gonna miss you when you’re gone.
Indeed.
Lots more here.

Also, from Kerry Eleveld at The Advocate:
Eleveld is wrong. It’s very clear that Steele won’t survive; the only question is the timing.
Put me down for tomorrow at 8PM Eastern.
(And as a side note, Tony Perkins weighing in on this is likely yet another marker he’s laying down in anticipation of a challenge David Vitter for LA-Sen. If Vitter comes out screaming about Steele, you’ll get a sense for how worried he is.)
Okay, which one of the Neo-Confederates who got passed over for RNC Chair in favor of Steele will replace him? Place yer bets now!
Michael Steele abortion position flow chart
The Corporate wing of the party knows the GOP will lose the next election Steele and Megan McCain are taking the hits now to ensure that they will have Cred as the party Saviors after the election.
The religious wing of the party is going to own the next defeat.
The GOP Civil War has begun.
Someone has made assurances that Steele would be taken care of if he loses his job who ever hires Steele next is part of the Corporate Wing of the GOP.
The Corporate Wing knows that they need Moderate Voters.
Bushian Belief Contra Reality won’t work any more.
Maybe they’ll go back to Mike Duncan, who had cut three-million-dollar checks for their state races until Steelio came along and slashed them all to one-million-dollar checks?
Money talks.
Or perhaps they’ll choose an elected this time, like Governor Sanford. Or Senator Cochran.
Ooh! More popcorn, please.
In fairness, Steele has followed the Bush Doctrine perfectly (”-in what respect, Charlie?”). The one regarding making all your predecessors look better by comparison.
I hereby nominate Fred Phelps. Perkins should like him!
Any seconds?
This whole “choose life = pro-choice” argument, which I first heard from Frost Lady Palin, really bugs me.
But I think the Tony Perkins wing must be seriously disturbed by Steelio’s assertion that Teh Gay is not A Choice, since that undermines an entire revenue stream of frightened parents who send their children for Christianist reparative therapy. This cash flow isn’t to be trifled with, as Steelio did.
Sayrah Paylin?
I’m thinking she’d love to get out of Alaska about now.
If the fetus you save is gay, will you still fight for its rights?
I personally don’t believe fetuses should marry…
She will be:
Seconded!!
Diaper Dave is going to have a very tight needle to thread in his GOP primary to slide in between Tony Perkins and Stormy Daniels.
Ha, Steele will be there too. Should be interesting crowd reaction.
Damn, PACing all around at the Paylin household…Sayrah’s bags are PACed, and the teenaged unwed mother daughter just sent her baby daddy PACing. Luv those family values!
I’m guessing Stormy has plenty of experience taking care of two men at once. Those two should be a cakewalk for her.

Such a circus, nothing but clowns!
Is that Tony Perkins outside the shower curtain?
you know, the dems picked a former presidential candidate, but the repukes hate mccain, they actually blame him for the loss
they wouldn’t THINK of blaming bush
The question is who will Ted Haggard endorse.
how about newt?
I think he’s vying for the job and if he works out good it sets the stage for a presidential bid
Well Mike I’m sorry or should I say I know that you are so, so, sorry you said this:Michael Steele: Abortion Is An “Individual Choice

Under the bed.
Norm Coleman is looking for work.
who will replace steele?
here’s the twitter from the republican chair of virginia…from rnc election night–starts on page 10 ends on page 9. mentions the other candidates that were vying for chair….
http://twitter.com/JeffFrederick?page=10
then on page 9 he says—
# Steele gave accept speech. He will be a great face for the Party and a vey effective spokesperson. Now co-chair election1:33 PM Jan 30th from txt
wonder who got co-chair? and even though blackwell was in last place, there are a few who want him in there.BAD. and the repubs are on a ‘we have our own blacks’ roll right now.
bet a nickel it’s blackwell. or someone who uses blackwell.
blackwell or huckabee or the guy that came in second.
he already had their contrbuters money stolen from them, they’re not too happy with him now
I think I have it;
MUTT ROMNEY!
He’s definitely gunning for 2012. He might just hand-pick someone to run the party and simultaneously grease the skids for him. However, I’m still torn between Fred Phelps and Sarah Palin. Maybe they could tag-team it?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_S._Steele
about halfway down is a chart of names and the series of balloting/votes at the rnc for chairman.
and his ‘Stance’ on issues under that. heh.
re: newt–
i don’t think would do it to become president, he’s do it to get con=trol of his congressmen again..through controlling their campaign money and legislative demands/wants and controlling the message and voice of the rnc. again.
In the closet…
Could this be the sort of banquet Jonathan Swift had in mind in his famous essay?

After all, the Right’s interest in child welfare begins at conception and ends at birth.
