My MRI on Monday was covered 80%. Huge new GE machine. $408.00 was my 20% of 30 minutes.

What it determined was that I have major nerve damage beginning, inside of L-1 through 4.

the bitch of it all is that my treatment is for the rest of my life…… if the drugs shrink or stop the tumors from growing I need to keep taking them to keep it that way….. if one drug stops working (they do) will be switched to another drug over and over again until well until nothing works anymore……. no treatment for kidney cancer truly gets rid of it.

Kidney cancer is an orphan cancer, there are only 300,000 in the US, only $1.5 million for research last year, no walks, no months/days dedicated to kidney cancer….. The drugs have only been FDA approved since 2005-2006….. there are three new ones in the pipeline in phase 3 clinical trials……. and they all are so expensive…… the current one I’m on retails for around $178 per capsule…….

the last three years that I worked acute hospital care, it was on an Orthopedic/Neuro floor. After seeing patients and responses, Orthos are for broken bones and Neursurgeons are for spinal and brain work…… just my 2 cents……

I was married to a doc for 20 years. Some doctors are wonderful and some just think they are wonderful.

My latest Costo magazine had an article about a guys business called Busted Knuckles Garage and the guys picture sure didn’t look like you……

Actually, a competent chiropractor, presented with the results of ET’s tests, would refuse to do any adjustment on that area of his spine, and probably to any part of it.

Of course, you are right though, there are incompetent chiropractors as well as incompetent MD’s all over the place.

I been workin orthosurgery for 12 years and before that I worked in the U of MN Medical School Dept of Orthopeadic surgery (as a grant administrator and bean counter) and I spent 6 months on the orthopaedic “K” team in an Evacuation Hosp in French Indochina (a long time ago)… It used ta be that neurosurgeons were associated with all things relating to spinal cord and brain injury and Orthopeadic spine docs trained and did the structural stuff. It’s still like that and the residency programs still train that way, spine specialists do a 5 year residency in an orthopaedic surgery dept. with the first year in general ortho work.

The neuro surgeons do all the work on spinal cord and brain injuries and frequently you will see both at the table for major spinal cord problems.

I read somewhere earlier today winchester or some gun co. was laying off a bunch of folks.

Glad I know how to pour and load my own ammunition.

when i hurt my back, i asked my knee doc who he would recommend in our area. he gave me 3 names as all highly qualified. it was after i had decided on my back doc did i find out that he operated on my knee doc’s wife’s back.

i’m tired and i may have phrased it inartfully. its hard to curse and type non-curses while typing.

Not just the chiropractor who caused permanent damage, but the boob surgeon [nicest of doctors] who arrogantly refused to use the ultrasound needle during surgery and completely missed the benign tumor. Explaining it after surgery in a way that made everything seem good. Until 6 months later when his office did a follow up, cover-your-ass-thing….YOU need an exam RIGHT NOW because of that thing we vaguely told you about,” the density of the tissue not being what was expected,blah,blah,blah” . He said that a mammogram would just look like a bomb had exploded in my boob, so no point going there…When I protested that he had actually MISSED the tumor and I wanted my money back,his response was to offer his services for free for the next surgery, the Is It Cancer 6 Months Later surgery. I could find no local lawyers to take my small town case. I didn’t have the fight.
I opted to go to Virginia Mason in Seattle for a second surgery.. The first thing I saw coming out surgery was a spirited young woman saying,” It’s NOT cancer. You’re GOOD! Go back to sleep!!”.
Why can’t all our medical people be like her?……you know,someone you can have faith in. Course, I’m an atheist. So maybe my longing is the longing of the nonbeliever….

I think you will find that most nursing staff, RNs, LPNs, technicians, and aides ARE like her…in fact the RN and LPN trainin’ specifically states as the nursing mission “to be an advocate for the patient” NOT the hospital, clinic or physicians. This has, in fact, been what has kept the “business of medicine” profitable until the bastrads killed the golden goose and priced everyone including a good portion of the general practice physicians right outta the business.
