War criminals, beware.

holy cow, talk about brazen indifference or criminal irresponsibly, that link documents the fact that bush actually tried to appoint john yoo to a government board in charge of war crime documents during Nazi Germany

man oh man, first get this sociopath to change our law, subvert the constitution and condone torture and then put him on a board judging previous war crimes

that sums this president’s priorities right there doesn’t it

Jane calls it right: Repubs are hypocritical on the stimulous bill. First they load the bill with ridiculous earmarks ($?00,000 for study of pig odor in Iowa!!, $?00,000 for tatoo removal program in Los Angeles, etc), then vote against the bill because it’s loaded with pork.

BTW, the video hangs up pretty often. I moved the button on down the line and finally got the end of Jane’s statements.

Thanks for the swim, BlueTexan.

Re Geithner

But even as he maintains a frenetic pace — unveiling plans, testifying before Congress and negotiating new bailouts with the likes of Citigroup, General Motors and the American International Group — there are signs that events are getting ahead of him.

It’s hard to stay ahead of events when you’re going in the opposite direction.

hmmm. Think maybe Bush/Cheney/Yoo had been studying those Nazi war crimes documents? Like maybe Bush put Yoo on a level with Judge Robert Jackson???

What brand of insanity epidemic infected that whole Whitehouse crowd?

Yoo, et. al. answered the question “How can we …?” when they should have been answering “Can we …?”

The tatoo removal program relates to gangs and trying to get people out of them.

I find it disgusting that people focus on such irrelevant items as earmarks when the U.S. economic problems are so much bigger and I’m sorry Jane didn’t refuse to talk about them at all and shift the focus to where it’s needed.

Could Warren possibly use more WWII analogies? His nervous chuckling leads me to believe he’s frightened out of his wits that the entire economy is about to get flushed.

His investment in GE was epic stupidity.

Dial-up so I can’t watch Jane’s vid to know if she talks about pig odor/tatoo removal but as someone who lives in a state that has a major pig-farming industry AND who has relatives living very near such an operation, I’d suggest people not be so quick to throw stones about what constitutes “pork”.

The stench can be unbelievable and just sometime within the last few days someone on a lefty blog had a very well written post about the health hazards of living near pig farms. Heading out on errands so don’t have time to try to track it down but the scientific information is out there for those who want to do a little research before automatically deriding such proposals.

I have a funny Buffet story. The year was 1985, and I was interviewing with the big (250+ pounds) bully who ran Goldman Sachs’ investment research dept for an internal switch from economics to portfolio strategy. He asked me whether I thought that stock picking was better than investing in mutual funds. (The right answer was stock picking of course.) I asked him why he was inquiring, as he was a big owner and pumper of Berkshire Hathaway, and wasn’t owning that “stock” the equivalent of owing a mutual fund, with Buffet as the fund manager?

Per the cited NYT article:

Mr. Richman said that would be unlikely for Mr. Yoo, who had pushed an aggressive theory of presidential power long before the administration recruited him.

“The selection of Yoo was putting in place someone where you sort of had an idea what he would say,” Mr. Richman said. “Most academics are in the center of most things, but there are some outliers. And he was an outlier.”

So it’s not that Yoo gave Cheney and Addington what they wanted to hear after 9/11. Rather, he was preselected before 9/11 for having already published such opinions. Very interesting, indeed!

Just out of curiosity, if the U.S. economy and society collapse as you predict, with only David Rockefellor remaining as ruler of a garbage pail world, would you personally feel saddened or gratified? I know a few folks for whom the ability to say, “I told you so,” would constitute their concept of heaven.

Speaking for myself, not plunger, I feel intellectually satisfied if I forecast a negative and it happens, but otherwise saddened and angry. After all, if a negative is forecastable, it may be preventable.

My efforts to out the criminals are a sincere effort to stop them in their tracks, so as to never have to contemplate the answer to your question. I would find no satisfaction in being right, just as I have found none in being right about a long list of other statements and predictions I’ve made online in recent years. I would MUCH rather have been proven wrong, but every day, new revelations align with the word “conspiracy” – for those willing to admit it.

I didn’t shoot anyone. I asked a question. You have to admit that some people make dire predictions and warnings in order to avoid catastrophe. Others just make dire predicitions. I’m curious as to whether any of us can prevent David Rockefellor’s empire any more than we can prevent a meteorite collision with the earth, a separation at the San Andreas Fault, or the coming of the Antichrist. There are some similarities.

The subject of the video clip was pork. Those topics were listed.

In our area those health hazards, cattle feed lots, turkey farms, pig farms, stockyards, etc., are regulated by the local board of health. IMHO that is where they should be regulated, not the federal government.

Same goes for the very localized Los Angeles tattoo removal program. If the root of the problem is gangs, then local authorities should take measures to clean them up, i.e., law enforcement.

It appears to me that Jane was pointing out the sly way the Repubs manipulate justifications for voting against bills – in this case by inserting items therein which are not related to the stimulation of our economy.

For my 2 cents, the bill should be trimmed to money to create jobs and correct the very unbalanced home mortgage problems so people can stay in their homes and move the bill on out and up with no more stonewalling.

No more for the banksters on Wall Street – we’ve thrown the whole herd of hogs at them yet they come back for more, more.

Are the local authorities strong enough to stand up to megaagribusiness, or are they bought off by same?

There was a big flap about the large cattle feedlots in our area some time back, resulting in regulating their size, waste removal, proper drainage, distance from water supply source, etc. The feedlot owners complied and did not go broke. This may have been a combined local (county) and state effort (can’t remember).

Guess it boils down again to whether elected and appointed officials fulfill their job obligations.
