The EFCA has a clear economic rationale: capital can organize in a corporation, and labor needs to organize as well. Larry Mishel and the EPI have gathered the signatures of a stellar group of economists to urge that we take this step now, as part of the process of rebuilding the country.

Durbin Sells Out to Banking Industry on Foreclosure Relief |
| By: Jane Hamsher Wednesday February 25, 2009 3:32 pm |
It’s hard to believe that bankers are writing our mortgage relief legislation, but it appears that they are: A key lawmaker is weighing a major concession to the financial services industry on legislation that would allow judges to rework mortgages in the bankruptcy process. Sen. Richard Durbin, D-Ill., the lead sponsor of the legislation, said he may limit the bill to existing subprime loans.
Mr. Cooper, He Mad |

Last night when I arrived at MSNBC David Shuster told me that Jim Cooper’s office had called. They had read that I would be on the show and wanted Cooper to be able to come on and debate me. At the time, what I was hearing in Beltway grapevine was that Gitenstein was said to be a shoe-in for the job because of close ties to Vice President Biden, a long record of great civil rights work, and his time on the Obama campaign. All that was swell, but it was his close ties to anti-individuals legal lobbying that was so troubling.

The US has successfully tried many alleged high level terrorists and Al-Qaeda operatives before and after 9/11. Yet there are many who claim that closing Guantanamo and trying terrorists in the United States is somehow a threat to national security.

Bobby Jindal’s presidential aspirations blew up tonight like a cheap condom on the end of a fire hose.
