The stimulus kabuki continues. Will children be the losers in this publicly played out farce? Via CQ: The single biggest spending cut to the original Senate plan comes out of a $79 billion state fiscal stabilization allocation that would help states avoid tax increases and cutbacks in education and other high priority services.

We really shouldn’t be calling the Senate stimulus bill the Collins-Nelson compromise bill. We ought to be calling it the Grassley-Isakson-Coburn-Collins-Bad Nelson bill, to memorialize where all the stupid comes from in the bill.

Maybe it’s hit the media where you live, and maybe not — but it’s happening all around the country right now. Revenues are down, expenses are up, and cuts to school budgets are everywhere. It’s not a pretty sight.

I guess I am supposed to alert my family and friends to the recession and further economic catastrophe, but honestly — couldn’t you have used your powerful email list for something other than a request to hold Economic Recovery Bill House Parties this weekend? Wouldn’t you like to ask us to call our representatives in Congress?

Speaker Pelosi, the spoiled boys in the Senate left a big mess to clean up: they’ve bagged up more than 50 billion stimulus dollars the addicts from coal and nukes can delay withdrawal from their Treasury subsidies. Like addicts everywhere, the coal and nuke junkies will starve families and steal from strangers to keep the fixes going. Like dealers everywhere, their Senate dealers will sell out the rest of us to keep the fixes coming: they’re planning to sell the junkies over 55 billion of the Treasury’s finest.
