On the occasion of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s upcoming visit with Pope Benedict XVI, a conservative American archbishop, Washington Archbishop Donald W. Wuerl issued a statement attacking the pro-choice Pelosi by saying that Church teaching is clear, and has been clear for 2,000 years that abortion is “gravely contrary to the moral law.”Um, no.

Last week Selise, Hugh and I watched the 3 1/2 long Geithner hearing until the bitter end, waiting for him to say something of substance and perplexed that he would be dispatched during a time of economic crisis to deliver such a muddled message. Now we know why — there was no plan.

Given all the media silliness about how the economic stimulus passing with near-zero Republican support is OMG Epic Bipartisanship Fail, I feel obliged to point out this little item in today’s NYT.
